I feel your pain. I waited in line for 11 hours to get my 360 on launch day.

I think you miss his point... Where as a 360 launch you will wait long, because you wait overnight... with the launch of a new phone, you shouldnt be inline for more than 2-3hrs.

When the original iPhone came out, and you can activate from home, the lines moved super fast..

I was just trying to make him feel better. You know... empathy.. ;_;

In the most messed up news of the evening, a guy who had been in line for 10 hours was just told he didn't qualify for an upgrade and would have to pay full retail.

And he could not...

Just an FYI to anyone who just upgraded and or updated..

DO NOT GET MOBILE FLICKR!!!

There is an issue when you try to upload pics taken from your phone to your flickr account. When you upload it and then go to your flickr site the picture is formatted incorrectly. It will always post upside down, and then when you rotate it, it will look ok, but when you go to the all sizes area of the picture, it is going to be sideways.

Damn! At our ATT store in Sacramento we had people out walking the lines @ 7am offering to check eligibility for customers waiting.

New Feature Tip:

When entering a web or e-mail address, you can now tap and hold on the ".com" button to get ".net, .edu, and .org".

This was the line at my local apple store at around 8:45pm

They were staying open until 11pm to handle it, and then opening at 8am again

Anybody have any ideas why no internet apps (Safari, App Store, Youtube, etc) won't connect when the iPhone is connected to my wireless network? I don't think it's a network problem as my laptop and PC both connect to the internet fine.

Forgot to mention. The apps work fine on Edge.

Wow, thanks dude... It's awesome to find out nice little tweaks like that.

I had to laugh tonight. I've been joking with the wife about getting the 3G over the past few weeks, acting all enamored with it even though I'm happy to hold off on buying a new one. She's naturally been handing me the line, "you're current iPhone works perfectly fine, why do you need a new one already?" and I've naturally responded with 3G! GPS! More storage! To all of which, she has rolled her eyes.

But then I happened to mention in passing that it happens to come in white now and she suddenly changes her tune. Total 180. :lol

So then you just rotate it on Flickr. The reason why it's the same in the "all sizes" page is because Flickr keeps the original version of the uploaded photo. The rest of the sizes will be correctly formatted.

They're probably working on a patch for it. I don't see the big deal.

Edit: I just emailed the folks who made it to see if there is one. We'll see what happens.

and here is how the story ends. AT&T has shut down their activation servers and IRU unit. NO ONE can activate or checkout anymore, everybody sent home.

I don't think there's any reason for me to buy this (original iphone owner... no 3G service in my area at all). I'm happy enough with 2.0.

I'll be getting one in the next couple months.. stoked!... It's even better since I haven't had a cell phone since 2004, and I don't have a computer right now (I'll actually be using the data features, not just because it's cool to do it portable, but because it will be my main machine for internet for awhile)

Hey another Sacramentan. Hi!

My friend works at arden mall, when I called him at 7:30 this evening he said the apple store in the mall had a 2-4 hour line.

Do Canadians not get Pandora? I couldn't find it on the App Store.

EDIT: I also bet this has been posted a million times but I can't for the life of me get iTunes Remote working.

I just got out of work and passed by the Apple store on Michigan ave and I saw 2 people waiting outside for tomorrow morning. That is crazy!

Pandora and AOL radio are pretty amazing. also that they work on edge, are these apps always gonna be free?

anyone know around how fast these apps drain the battery? (of course with the screen off)

so I been playing that Crash Racing game and the only negative I can think of is when racing and tilting alot of times you will be blocking the sound coming out from the speaker sometimes hard to hear.

WARNING for people buying at Apple stores!

If you have any business discounts OR AT&T bundle discounts on your bill (like unified billing) your account will be flagged at the Apple store because of those discounts as ineligible for purchase at an APPLE store. You can still get the phone, but you will need to go to AT&T to get it or hope that your store manager is giving enough to push the call to the IRU and get the various flags flipped.

When you call AT&T to ask about upgrade eligibility - make sure its about eligibility at an APPLE store. Apparently the retards that put this system together actually distinguish between the two.

Ok so after going through the Iphone firmware 2.0 update I lost all my contacts, webpage bookmarks as well as youtube bookmarks as well. I synced and restored multiple times already is there any other way to get all those back? =(

Edit:

Try this. With your iPhone docked, can you right click on it in the left-hand sidebar and try "Restore from Back Up". If your iPhone had been backed up prior to the upgrade (and the backup hasn't been overwritten) you might get your settings back.

Inside the mall I work at is an apple store, and this is exactly what the line looked like until 10:00pm. There was also another line outside the entrance of the mall. It will be like that tomorrow too. =X

Why did everyone mob the Apple Stores?

Wouldn't it have been a smarter move to find some out-of-the-way AT&T store? There's an AT&T location near my work (which is way out by the airport), and when I drove by today at 3:00 PM there was no line and only 5-10 cars out in front. Now maybe they just ran out of phones and sent everyone home, but you had to expect that the Apple Stores were going to draw huge crowds.

Pretty much every AT&T store in the country opened at 8AM and was out of inventory by 8:30. The Apple stores had ENORMOUS inventory. The could absolutely guarantee you could not only get a phone, but that you could get the EXACT one that you wanted. People went to the Apple stores after they found all of the AT&T stores out of stock and at best putting in special orders with a 1 week hold.

Same. I click the app, it start to load, and then I end up back at the home screen.

Oh, by 3:30 that ATT&T store was just plain sold out. I was about 30th in line at the store here (I got there at 7:20am) and by the time I was finally leaving (almost 11am) they were just letting in the last person who would actually get an iPhone.

Holy hell at how how late people and stores stayed open. This will go down as one of the greatest retail clusters of all time.

I feel proud that I totally called it months in advance of the 3G announcement, as soon as it was evident the phone would get subsidized (and therefore, activations would have to happen in store).

Yes. Absolutely. I'm on a Touch so obviously all I have is wifi and both safari and mail and all the others have been having major hangs. It took me several attemps to post this. There is a problem somewhere.

Honestly I much prefered jailbroken 1.14 to this so far.

Man. With all the bug and hang reports on 2.0, I think I'm going to hold off on upgrading my Touch.

I wish i had.

Had to restore my Touch 4 times so far this morning, 3 of those times the restore crashed out.

Finally got it to work, but now it wont sync. Itll sync about 15 tracks, then stop as the device has "timed out".

Going on a drive today, so iPod would have been useful. :(

The sons of bitches at carphone warehouse are now telling me they are out of stock when yesterday i had a guaranteed phone for delivery this morning, which i paid an extra £10 for.

Great. Seems like ill be waiting a week for delivery.

edit: Literally 3 minutes after i posted my doorbell rang and i have my new iPhone. CPW staff do not have a clue what is going on with their stock. Either way im now happy!

Seriously guys, the Remote, how do you make it work? My phone is connected to the same wi-fi network as my laptop. I open the remote, I get the code, I open iTunes...then what? Where on earth do I input this code? And could Apple ever include a user's manual with anything?

I figured it out. I have to completely disable my ESET firewall to get it to work. Even allowing iTunes full access hasn't helped. Hmmm...

This is officially driving me crazy. No matter what I do I cannot seem to get it to work at all without completely disabling the firewall. Ugh.

Woot...I found a newspaper with a picture of me in it!
Asahi Shimbu in Nagoya ran this photo, I'm the dude looking directly into the camera.

It says right on the page with the code: Put this into the Device section of iTunes.

WITH THE APP STILL RUNNING go to your comp running iTunes and you'ree see Devices: iPhone on the left side where it normally is when sycning, click that and enter the code.
