second time it didnt work. Yeah this is a weird.

I had a few not work until I made sure the file was 30 seconds. I had a few at 40 seconds and sometimes it worked and sometimes not. But 30 seconds seems to always work.

Now... I need my custom SMS alert sound. Looks like there's no way to do this other than to jailbreak the phone. I'm not too keen on that.

Yeah. I'm pretty annoyed by that. I miss my "mail mother fucker" wav.

It was 26 seconds and said it wouldnt take the file. I'm just gonna pay for this program, so much easier.

Guys, I set up my apple ID to dowload some webapps but it doesn't get recognize. I am able to log in using my PC, also it shows my apple ID on the Itunes store. What could be happening here? Thanks

Must my Iphone be connected to my PC in order to download any web apps? Thanks

You just bookmark webapps through Safari, tap the + button and choose "Add to home screen."

If you meant regular Apps, no you don't because you can download them from the App Store on the iPhone.

Damn, that sucks.

So that's why Tap Tap Revolution wouldn't allow me to pick from my library.

I used to be able to play Queen and others when it was only a jailbroken app called Tap Tap Revenge.

Glad mine is jailbroken.
The 2.0 compatible apps are coming in. Just downloaded a Pac-Man clone with pretty nice graphics, and over 300 levels. Not to mention the NES emu.

You could do it with a custom application on the PC that loads the mp3s into the file system of the application itself (at the expense of having 2 copies of the song on 1 machine)... That's it, really.

That is true. OpenSSH ftw.

One thing to note is that the headphone jack has a sensor/indicator in it to denote that it has been in water. This will cause them to not honor it for warranty work. You might want to find some reason to get that baby exchanged for a new phone sooner rather than later.

Is this sensor in the old phones as well?

I think he means without synching with your computer.

Yeah, I have a Touch and every time I sync it to my computer it takes a bloody age to Backup everything. If I could get my Touch to download new Podcasts over my wireless network (exactly like iTunes already does) that would be a huge timesaver.

I downloaded the free Moonlight Mahjong game yesterday and have to say that I'm really impressed. I've always liked Mahjong as a simple time killer type game, and this one works really well. One of the better free apps I've seen so far.

Also, Shazam is awesome. Great for impressing the ladies! :)

I think I got that one also. Sometimes my touches dont register, but it definitely is fun.

There is really no reason it shouldn't do this. Especially when you can buy songs directly from itunes.

Hmm... only time I've had issues with this is when I'm zoomed out too far. Works fine when I'm in close and more easily touch unique tiles.

So I went to one of the two local AT&T stores to put in a fulfillment order for two iPhones.
I was told I can only order one. I explained I wanted two and have them activated in-store on a family plan.
I was told I would have to bring the other person in. Naturally I said, "Uh no," and walked out.
WTF!?

Now there was a "one per customer" AT&T policy that got leaked in mid-May and was reversed a week later.

Save a 30 sec clip of a song to wav format using audacity.
Open the wav in itunes and convert to AAC
rename the m4a to m4r
drag into the ringtones part of itunes.

Thank you so much.. I've been trying to figure this out for the past week. :lol

and Moonlight MahJong is pretty cool, you can play Mp3s while in game.

Holy shit the water thing happened to me today.

Fell out of my hands face down in a puddle of water. Submerged. Once I got it clear and dried it was giving me the "This Accessory Doesn't Work" message and flickering off and on and wouldn't shut down.

SOO PISSED.

Left it alone, let it dry out. Four hours later and it appears to be working fine.

I'm leaving it alone and see what happens.

try not using it for about 2 days if there is any water left inside the phone... if you turn it on, even a drop of water is enough to permanently damage your iphone...

leave it turned off, and use a vacuum with a narrow sucking thing on the outer sides of the phone to suck out any excess water and then leave it in a bowl of rice so that the water is absorbed...

just avoid using it and it should be fine... the longer you wait to use it, the better... like i said.. any moisture inside may be enough to permanently damage your iphone... although you may not notice it right away... it will become apparent sooner or later.

Apple has seeded v2.1:

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=530430

"According to the site, Apple has included new Core Location features that might suggest that turn-by-turn GPS could become a reality. Core Location can reportedly track your direction and the speed at which you are traveling.

Besides Core Location speed and heading additions, Apple has also included early Push Notifications APIs that allows applications to process notifications in the background. Apple promised this feature by September."

I wonder if we will be seeing the Telenav app shortly after 2.1 is released..

Actually, Apple and AT&T have been selling them 1 per person since launch day.

I hope this addresses some of the issues in 2.0 - some things are unusually slow and unresponsive. Camera takes freaking 6 seconds to load from Springboard. Backups can sometimes take 30-120min.

And holy shit, Apple needs some sort of QA assurance for apps that get allowed on the App Store. Some apps are just BAD, and others either crash or kernel panic (I assume), causing the phone to immediately reboot.

My sister installed that. I installed midomi. midomi seems to do whatever Shazam does, and more.

got a link to where all the icons (and how to mod) came from?

and what did you use to switch which icons are on the dock?

I walked out of an Apple store with 2 of them a couple weeks back and on launch night a guy purchased 5 - Atlanta, GA Lenox Mall. So I'm not sure that there was a 1 per person limit in effect.

That's not the problem with turn by turn directions - its GPS resolution. Anybody with an iPhone do this, go outside turn on the location services in Google Maps and just stand there for 10-15 minutes. What you will notice is that the GPS location moves around a bit. There will be a circle of uncertainty that will appear from time to time. THIS is the problem with turn by turn - its a good bit of approximation to know that you're in the general vicinity of the turn.

I'm really tempted to jailbreak my phone. Anyone do it and have any regrets? Will i continue to update my phone when apple releases firmware updates?

i just did today, but i don't see any real advantages at all at the moment since there aren't really any apps written for 2.0

Huge number of apps just got updated including some biggies like Pandora and Last.FM (NetNewsWire has a very nice update too, if you're not using it you should).

Sweet. They updated Phonesaber with the number one thing i wanted them to do. Fill the whole screen with the lightsaber.

Yep, there's no real point to jailbreaking 3G yet, especially given that the 2.1 beta is now out to devs. Wait until 2.1 comes out at least or until more of the useful stuff get ported over to 2.0 and Cydia, I'd say.
