Finally got an iPhone today from Softbank (Japan). About to jailbreak now with Pwnage...hope it's as easy as it was to jailbreak the Touch!

Can't seem to figure out how to send text messages to other carriers though. Has anyone in the States had this problem? Sending text messages to Softbank users is fine, but I can't send anything to say, Docomo.

200 dollars on craigslist. I replied to about a half dozen people and some were asking way too much 400+, then the one ad that really didn't have a description just a stock description and stock photo from app replied back to me. At first I didn't think it was legit because he wanted 200 for it, but when I met him he said he bought the new 3G phone and didn't want his old one anymore. whoa.

it took about all night but now I have it working with my t-mobile account.
 
critter crunch is ok but I give it closer to 7.5 then the 8.5's I have seen for reviews.

oh is it technically illegal to jailbreak your iPhone according to Apple 's or AT&T agreement terms?

Yeah, but if something fatal happens to your iphone that you can't restore, you may not be able to get it serviced by Apple. Something like that would be rare though.

that's a great list but it's not for 2.0 phones, is it? Those sources in 2.0 cydia are basically starting from scratch again.

Fuck this buggy piece of shit firmware. I loaded up Critter Crunch while downloading an app and it froze up, and the phone has been stuck on the Apple logo for a half hour.

Goddammit I think the fucking phone is bricked now. Anything I can do?
 
I've had 4 kernel panics and 210+ crashes with the 2.0 firmware.

You can check in:
Users -> user -> Library -> Logs -> CrashReporter -> MobileDevice

I haven't made a backup because it takes so fucking long and I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to lose my shit.

I can get it to the iTunes recovery screen, though by holding down the home button with it plugged in. There's gotta be another way :(

Yeah, too bad MDCrashReporter itself crashes every single time I plug in the goddamn phone. The messages are annoying.

wow. 18 kernel panics and 110 crashes for me.

good god. I knew I had some crashes but I didn't realize how quickly they added up.

the vast majority of the crashes were mobile safari and the media player, though.

Well, I went ahead and put it back into "unjailbroken" mode. The stuff in 2.0 just feels like it's all unfinished; I'd rather wait until stuff like installer and summerboard are back.
 
I like running a lot and I would love to be able to bring my Iphone with me while I am running, I am looking for a WATER TIGHT case for the iphone that I can carry on my arm...

does anything like that exist?

Uh, they are.
SummerBoard is now Winterboard, and promises to be better. My phone looks very nice now.

Cydia has been there from te start and is getting better everyday, and the new Installer will out soon as well, via Cydia probably.
They both do the same thing.
 
i'm going to order an iPhone in the next days. should i get the 8GB or the 16GB model? i'm planing to use many of the apps and upload my ripped DVD movies. thanks in advance.

Why can't I use my own wallpaper on Winterboard? I installed it and got nothing but some code when I opened it. The NES emulator was screwy when it came to installing games. I dunno what it is, it just felt lacking.

The front-end interface is nearly there for Winterboard.
For now you have to use the themes created by others, or create one yourself.
So far Winterboard has been getting updates every day, sometimes twice a day, so I expect it soon.

I'm using a pretty slick pre-made theme at the moment.

You install NES games the same way you did on the old version. Not sure what you mean.
