No, it's not. it's, simple, easy to read and elegant.

Once again: if you really want to have a custom background, you can jailbreak your phone and have it in less than 5 minutes.

I see custom backgrounds as being an order of magnitude less important than all the current crashing and memory leaks, copy and paste issues, plus push notification additions that Apple needs to deal with first.

Maybe Apple will have resources necessary to allow for skinning in a 6 months to a year, but I'm glad they're not bothering with that now.

Why should I have to void my warranty just to have a wallpaper on my phone when most other phones allow me to do it. I love the iphones functionality and that is why I purchased it but I wish Apple would give on just this one feature. It makes all kinds of sense. Other backgrounds can be "simple, easy to read and elegant".

Very unlikely. But, hey, they allowed a bazillion 99 cent flashlight apps in the app store so anything is possible :D

I pray for teh day we have an iPhone 3G with OG iPhone-like battery life. Maybe in 09, if we're lucky.

Hopefully firmware updates help address it because right now it is the single biggest strike against it.

I jailbroke, but after seeing that the only APP I found appealing was NES, I decided to restore back to the original firmware. WinterBoard is nice but I didn't find any of the themes any more pleasing than the default theme. Guess I'm glad I did go back to the original with the 2.0.1 firmware update being put up

Oh shit!

I'm glad I didn't Jailbreak. I don't think you are able to grab this if you did. :/

That's a question i had actually. If i jailbreak what happens when Apple releases updates? Can i not jailbreak now that i updated my iPhone is probably a better question.

Does this do a complete restore or just flash the firmware? I did another update a couple of days ago to the different version of 2.0 and it did a complete restore.

I believe you have to wait for the JB community to catch up. It might only be 2-3 days.

Does Apple have a changelog/changelist somewhere?

Oh, and another shout-out for 3-tuple. Awesome free game, especially if you're a previous fan of the card game "set"

That is because the touch sucks!:D You can always update to the new firmware, you just won't be able to jailbreak it right away...

Shit, that is what I meant to say. I'll edit my post.

You can upgrade, but your phone won't be jail broken any longer.

You have two options: update and lose your jailbreak and wait for an updated winpwn, or don't update and wait for an updated winpwn that works with this new firmware.

Updated. It will take me about a day to determine whether or not this is an improvement. Have to see how many crashes occur over the next 24 hours.

Hmm.. Update completed fine. But then it comes up saying there's another update for carrier settings. Which fails with an error.

Hopefully that's not bad.

how did yours finish so fast? mine is still backing up the phone.

Just initially, the phone does seem to be much more responsive. But then, that could be because it just rebooted. So I guess the real test is whether it stays this fast.

man, it'll be hard knowing i'll miss out such indispensable apps on cydia as 'MyPootz' and the steve jobs fortune cookie machine. but this thing needs to be upgraded, damnit.

The responsiveness on the device is a huge difference. This was my number one problem with it since I bought it. I'm very happy to see it's (at least for now) fixed.

Ack. Something about this update seriously screwed up application installs from iTunes to iPhone.

I had about 20 app updates queued up to install to the phone and am doing so now after the 2.0.1 update. The first app freezes indefinitely until I cancel the sync, try again, and then it goes to the second app and freezes indefinitely, ad nauseum.

Ughhhh
