I'm questioning 10 FPS video at 260p.
It is slightly higher than that and suitable for a phone with such a camera.

I've no doubt the next iteration will look even better and hopefully not chug in poor light.

So i have been debating upgrading my sprint phone to the Pre or jumping to the Iphone. In terms of plans, what am I looking at in terms of monthly bills with At&T?

I'm interested in how much the new iPhone will be.
I still have a crappy EDGE version and need an update. Badly.

Also 32GB = kermit-fap.gif

I'm guessing it'll be $199 for the 16GB version if you're eligible for a new contract extension.

450 Rollover Min - $39.99
Unlimited Message - $20 (Or $5 - 200 Messages / $15 - 1,500 Messages)
iPhone Data Unlimited - $30

= $89.99 before taxes. Cheaper if your entitled to a monthly discount off your primary rate plan through your employer or school. Its not that expensive considering the features.

I work for AT&T

Possibly discount through school as I'm going through Grad School.

But I'm a cheapo and would go again with the $5/200 messages.
So about $74.99 without any possible discount.

And you're sure there will be no difference in prices, as this is current 3G Prices, oui?

But thanks for the help. :)

I will do what Ashong stated.
Sell my unlocked 3G and buy the new one, did the same thing last time.

He will never question Apple.

how did you go about getting the unlocked 3g? pay a premium on ebay?

fuck, you guys pay 100+ a month for a single line for that iphone? god damn...im glad that im on Tmobile so that I wont be tempted to get that. sure i get no 3g, but 100/month is so expensive

Yes, that quote was for the 3G iPhone. BTW; for those people who are bitching about the data rate feature keep in mind its the same charge Blackberry (Blackberry Personal) & Windows Mobile (PDA Unlimited) users have been paying for their smartphone's data features for a long time. Also, AT&T & Verizon have essentially the same charges for data on their smartphones.

Prices for data get higher when you want to consider Enterprise, Tethering, International Data Roam, etc.

I have to say I finally saw a G1 in person and I was really a lot more impressed with it than I was with my friend's iPhone. The iPhone has the clear edge in games and such but I really liked the screen a lot more (I think it's smaller, but it seems way crisper and sharper, I was really impressed with it). I had been figuring on just biting the deposit bullet and getting an iPhone soon but finally seeing a G1 in person really turned me around. All the photos of it make it look like a bulky awkward piece of shit, but it's actually really quite slick in person.

Am I imagining the screen difference?

(I probably should have posted this in a G1 thread but I went back like 13 pages and couldn't find it.)

are there people that complain about the iphone screen? ive had an iphone since almost day one and i think the screen is beautiful. i see no flaws in it at all, but then again i havent seen a G1. i just dont think thats really something that should push you to another phone. the iphone has a screen thats more than good enough, imo.

My mistake, I said $100 a month before, but that was just because I had just paid my bill online and forgot that I also pay for a second line for my mother.

Rates above are accurate, but I don't have unlimited messages.

Oh no that's certainly not the only thing. Keyboard is nice, cheaper, on my current provider; I think I'd just realized they were more comparable than I'd thought, considering my needs.

Like I said, probably wrong thread.

:(

Well, you can always get the 3G and unlock it for Tmobile =P I think i also read most ppl saying if you plan on getting the G1 to wait for the next wave of Google phones

I was referring to the pricing for the new model (if that info is available yet).
But yes, "you get what you pay for" and that is awesomeness.

I don't know why some people expect a top of the line phone and service to be $20 a month. Silly rabbits.

alright, lets say it dose come out next week, can I upgrade from a 3G phone while still paying the subsidized price? Also, if I can upgrade, do I get to keep the 3G phone and how much do you think I can sell it for? I live in Canada and Rogers is my carrier if that matters, sorry for all these questions, the 3G was my first phone so I'm new to this

Rogers will let you upgrade after a certain amount of time, I'm not entire sure how long it is but I think it's at least a year. You'll be paying a subsidized price but will most likely have to sign for a three year contract and if it's anything like the 3G, you'll probably pay more for it than new users. You will get to keep your original phone, it gets paid off as you pay your phone fees.

Except Sprint is $20 cheaper for the same amount of stuff - mainly because of the ridiculous messaging options on the AT&T plans.

No one knows.

Both. I bet the cheaper, less robust one comes out Monday, more feature-rich one on July 17th.
I think it'll just be an iPhone 3G price drop, and they'll keep it on the market rather than dropping the previous model like they did the first time around.

I also don't get the July 17 rumors. What happens to people with original iPhones that got them on June 29, 2007 and their two-year contract is ending?

It's 2 years now on Rogers and you aren't even given the option to buy the new iPhone outright.

I think Rogers is 18 months before you can negotiate for an upgrade.

EDIT: Beaten by above.

I bought my iPhone I think around July 6th so the new phone releasing anytime around that will work for me. I'm getting more excited to see what's coming on Monday!

they pay a month of service extra. although youre right, a lot of people may decide to move on at that point if they dont know another one is coming.

Canada and Rogers? Bad news. Of course, an exception may be made for the iPhone, but Rogers recently modified their Hardware Upgrade policy. Absolutely no HUPs until the customer is 2 years into their contract. There have been no exceptions made to this policy so far, even through retentions according to what I've read on HowardForums.

edit: wow I should really read to the end of threads before writing a reply

I just got a weird tweet from an iPhone accesory company "welcoming the new iPhone to their site." WTF? I raced over here thinking it had been announced. I looked on their site, saw nothing but I'm on my phone so couldn't look in depth. Proporta.com if anyone is interested.

I checked it out, no new iPhone. Although it has a sale off all iphone protectors until June 14

Does AT&T have an internet broadband antenna for dead zones? Verizon does, and I thought I heard AT&T would a few months ago.

Is that coming soon?

What is the best way to move applications from your iTunes to your iPod Touch? The only way I have found is through syncing it and it's kind of frustrating.

Plug your iPod in, click on your iPod on the left in iTunes, go to the Applications tab, and uncheck what you don't want to sync.

hmm, I tried that once and it didn't work, will try again! Thanks.

yeah, doesn't work. When I uncheck applications then hit apply it says, do you really want to remove this applications from your iPod?

Yeah, I'm not getting what you want to do. A list of apps appears for your device based on what you have downloaded in iTunes. Select which ones you want, uncheck ones you don't. Select apply. I don't get what could be simpler.

Are you trying to get apps from another iTunes library or something?

I'm not sure what you're asking... Why wouldn't you want to sync them if you don't want to remove them?

The list includes all the apps on my device. When I go to uncheck all the ones I don't want synced (aka I JUST want the new game I bought to be transferred over) it pops up with a dialog box and says those apps which I unchecked will be deleted from my iPod.

If I go ahead and just sync all applications it takes forever and goes through every app. I can't believe there just isn't a drag and drop method like music.

I'm still not getting you. You uncheck ones you don't want on your iPod, you check ones that you do want. Hit apply. Think of sync as "do you want this on your iPod? Yes/no".

what? it doesnt go through every app if the ipod already has it. that would be like it resyncing every single song in your library every time you wanted to add something.

hes saying that every time he wants to add a new app, it resyncs ALL of the apps, including old ones, which doesnt make sense.

Just to clear things up, I think I get you. You think 'sync' refers to 'what apps should I check?'. Like trying to keep things current. It doesn't. Thats not whay sync means. It refers to 'what apps do you want to keep on your device?'.

It won't go through every app everytime. If it's already checked and it's already on your iPod it won't put it on again or do anything.

Yeah, well there's a reason why we switch Sprint/Nextel customers over more than any other carrier. I think the messaging options are fair & on par w/ the competition.
