Right, it says that the application cannot be installed to my phone. As far as I can remember, it does reference some sort of issue, I think it was my login. I log in to iTunes store as my wife and it still won't install. I'll try it when I get home and let you know the exact error message, but it gives the impression that I cannot install it to my phone because I was not the one who bought it. Which is weird, because no other app does that. I always thought it was some sort of flag that the devs put in there that other devs don't bother with.

Try doing Store-->Authorize Account on your iTunes library.

My wife buys stuff on her iPod Touch under her account all the time and it drives me crazy, because the combination of iTunes and iPhone OS suck terribly at managing multiple accounts.

How is that looking under 3.0, with the ability to sign in and out on the iPhone itself?

My phone is flying from the FedEx hub in Memphis to Lexington right now. I leave for the Grand Canyon tonight. I've been bugging the piss out of the FedEx call center ladies all day, as I'm doing everything I can to pick it up from the distribution center instead of it being delivered to my empty office in the morning. I gots to have my 3 MP autofocus.

So nervous.

Progress!

There's no doubt in my mind that it seems very impressive, but it's also entirely excessive. I have no need to take picture notes or group my notes by location, I'll stick with the Apple note app. Simple and does the job.

yeah, my concern is the same as yours. that evernote might be too complicated. what i need to test is how quickly i can enter a simple text note compared to the bare bones apple app.

if it requires more taps or takes longer to load the app, then all the other location features aren't worth it for me.

picture notes can still be useful, though.

:D Cnet did a cool speed test video , Pre vs iPhone vs iPhone 3G (S)

3G (S) takes only 19 seconds to power on! Holy ****. Compared to 48 seconds of the original iPhone and 1:46 (:lol ) for Pre.
I'm mighty shocked that the Pre beat the 3GS in that rendering test. Wonder if it would've made a difference if all were on wifi instead of their respective (spotty) networks

I wish there was a decent scribble app - and a good stylus to go with it. I much prefer writing to using the software keyboard and I carrying my notepad along with an iPhone is getting redundant

To be fair, the Pre then went on to beat the 3gs in loading a site and sending the picture message.

True, I guess I could have added that in, but in my mind Sprint's network is a lot better and faster than AT&T's so I think everyone expected that. I'm more surprised that the 3GS managed to keep up so well, I was expected a slower result (not looking forward to leaving Sprint for AT&T but that wasn't too bad).

lionelhutz said:
That's to be expected. AT&T won't allow MMS.

They did it via email.

Lastly, did everyone already know about the 3GS having CalDAV? Definitely handy to sync with your Google, Yahoo (etc) calender. It's cool to still be learning things.

Yeah, how stupid was that? At least use wifi so we can how the units match up.

Plus the regular 3G lost it's 3G halfway through. Given one could argue that it's a "real world test" and the network/dead spots are part of it, but still, it doesn't bode well for the 3GS having a good connection where the test was done.

No not to be fair..

That just goes over the celluar provider in that area.. not the actual devices.

Thats a retarded test. (God you can even tell its about celluar providers when the other guys iphone goes on EDGE...) :lol

In practical terms, your phone is still only as good as your network. Don't poo-poo that off.

No shit but I can tell you Sprint sucks ass down here where I live.. so if I did a comparisson test because I'm an 'awesome media site' then it wouldn't seem fair for Pre users.

They should have used fricken WiFi.. You have to agree with that.

Man I am so so so fucked.

8 days outside the eligible upgrade window and I'm getting cockblocked by every AT&T store and customer service representative I can get a hold of.

None of them are willing to budge on this...

So it's 700 dollars or nothing with this release...

EIGHT DAYS!

Hey guys, I just tried downloading a podcast over 10mb with 3G, it didn't work! Is this article a lie? Have Apple commented officially in any way about it?

Limiting downloads to under 10mb is the only thing making me jailbreak, because I like to grab podcasts while I'm at work (with no WiFi access).

Hot-diggity damn, sounds like the MMS is going to solve my problems!
How do I remove the Jailbreak?

So uh, is anyone using any iPhone with the gophone/pick your plan options? I hear that they're cutting out the gophone option, but am hearing differing reports about the pick your plan.

I really want a smart phone, but I'm not willing to pay 70 dollars a month for one.

edit: after doing some research, this is kind of the average rate for smart phones per month. Fuck.

So for anyone who's tried tethering via USB how do u make the computer recognize it's a network adapter? U need iTunes?

Ya, I'm having trouble with this on my Asus 1000HE netbook running Windows 7. Not sure what the problem is. Might be a driver issue but not sure what driver I may be missing. Any insight would be great.

So, are the 3GS's predicted to completely sell out tomorrow? I won't be able to get to the store until 2-3PM.

I believe so. AT&T's said if you pre ordered after the 12th you should expect yours up to a week after tomorrow. If you have Apple stores or Best Buys in your area you may wanna try those, though.

It takes the same number of clicks to get to a new text note in evernote as it does apple notes app. It's really not complicated if you don't want it to be. You could go crazy separating things into various notebooks and tagging everything, but you don't have to. Keep it all in one notebook and don't bother tagging and you can have essentially the same experience as apple's notes app, but with the added benefit of being able to access those notes from a lot more places.

I'm in Austin, so I have 2 Apple stores, lots of Best Buys, and quite a few AT&T shops. I'll probably check them all.

I imagine the contracts will bar a lot of previous owners from upgrading (Fee), increasing my chances a bit, while lots of other new casual buyers take their time and go for the $99 3G. I hope. :D

I just need to find one 16GB 3GS.

Somehow I doubt they will at Apple Stores. Maybe Best Buys or AT&T locations, sure. But those stores aren't getting very many units and never seem to at the launch of a new iPhone. The 3G didn't sell out at most Apple Stores at launch and you can still order a phone from AT&T or Apple online. I am sure though that Apple will probably have a system just like they did with the last 2 iPhone launches where you can check to see if your local Apple Store has units the night before.

Try Best buy, from what they told me when I pre-ordered is that by putting 50 down that guarantees you an iphone. The clerk says that best buy holds it for 24hrs for you.

My iPhone is shipped! Too bad for me that I'm out of town for the weekend.

Damn, now I'm just going to be worried about it being hypothetically on my porch this whole time..

Please don't find my apartment and steal it, GAF

Woooohooooo! Thanks Vodafone, for letting us use tethering :)

iPhone 3.0 update is awesome, I now have very little desire to upgrade my 3G to the 3G S.

I was mighty surprised to see that tethering doesn't cost any extra here in NZ, I guess it's because none of our iPhone plans have unlimited data so it's not like we'll abuse it (only 250MB per month data allowed).

Bluetooth'ing my iPhone's 3G connection to my MacBook (everything wireless) in the middle of nowhere = heaven. I can watch porn in the middle of a wide open field.
