i actually like the felt stuff. earbuds are so damn uncomfortable without them. :/

also the ksc series are like 15USD at best buy. highly recommended for cheap portables.

I thought the ones that came with the Zen sounded really good. Are these KSC ones you're talking about worth spending $15 on? Because if they're just decent quality, I can get some for $1 at the dollar store.

So don't take our advice, go buy the $1 headphones and plug them into your $400 audio player if you think that makes sense.

what i'm saying is, if you won't take our word on the ksc's being a good buy for 15$ or you do take our word on it and the 14$ ends up bankrupting you PLUS you don't think they're any better than dollar shop earbuds then all you can do is trust your ears. i really don't care how you in particular would go about trusting your ears, but whatever, if the money is worth more to you than the sound do whatever the fuck it is you want to do.

You're really confusing me. I'm just asking if, in your opinion, it is worth spending another $14 for the one type of earbuds rather than the other. Because if you don't think it is, then I'm not going to buy them. That's all I'm asking.

oh, well first off the ksc's aren't earbuds. the 50s are clip ons and the 55s have one of those behind the headbands. the senn px100s are closed with an over the headband.

the senn mx series tends to be the only earbuds people regard as being worth spending money on. that doesn't mean they're good, just that they're tolerable. the mx500s go for about 20 bucks, give or take. for the most part though all earbuds sound like shit. if you really want earbuds and want the best sounding earbuds you can get for a reasonable price though, the mx500s are a pretty good bet. some people also like the sony ex71 (pseudo in-ear) which i think run about 30 something.

right now i'm using the mx series-sound-alikes that come with the iriver for portables, but this is mostly because i can't afford a pair of canalphones and i have senn HD600s (200+$) at home.

if you ask me, 15$ is nothing to spend on a pair of half-decent headphones if your alternative is using freebie bullshit. i'm not so sure about spending 15$ on a pair of earbuds though. you should look into the ksc's and px100s though. those are definitely worth a few bucks more.

So would you recommend the 50 or 55s? I did a quick google and saw that some people thought the 55s band thing was uncomfortable but that the 50s could fall off easier.

the band seems really badly designed. i don't know how well that would work out for me, and those clips are really uncomfortable on my ears at least for extended periods of time. doesn't bother everyone though.

what i haven't heard is that many people have trouble with them falling off. it's usually more of a comfort thing. do you wear glasses?

you may be ok with either one then.

these are really cheap headphones. it's pretty natural for something to get screwed up in the design phase.
