Is A Projector Or A TV Better in College?

Most of the guys in dorms seemed to have projectors instead of TVs.

Maybe those are better for the parties? Lots of visitors?

I mean the circumstances in college are different than the standard.

A projector may give you more flexibility, but its usefulness will really depend on the circumstances in which you find yourself at college. I at least never needed one, but it would have been nice to have one for select occasions, not really for parties, but for study sessions and group projects when we couldn't use the ones at college.

Wouldn't know, haven't been inside a college dorm in 10 years and when I was a college student most people still had tube TVs. I can say that gaming on most small projectors is kind of... underwhelming.

I was in college 30 years ago.
The only use of a TV back then was for Mortal Kombat, two hours a week.

I have no idea what college is like now. I suspect it sucks.

Two things you always need to consider with a projector:

1) They draw power like crazy
2) You need to replace the bulb every 10k or so hours, depending on the projector. Now this sounds like a lot, but depending on how you use it, it's really not. Need to buy another bulb every 2 or 3 years or so, bulbs being highly specialized/customized/specific items for specific projector models (aka a hassle to find later on)

And then there's all the obvious stuff, ofc. Also, shy away from anything below 3000 Ansi Lumen. Mine has 3400, which is ok, but you really don't want anything lower. So there goes basically anything out to the trash is below like $500.

I played with the idea of getting a short throw projector. But I prefer TV's. Just going to wait until micro LED's become more affordable.

This a short throw projector.
