Is anyone else addicted to hot sauce?

No I've picked up the pace a bit in the past year or so but I've been eating hot sauce since I was a little kid and my step-dad would trick me into eating it so he could watch me suffer.

lol, sorry I laughed at the step-dad tricking you part. it sounds like you are addicted, some of the food is literally drenched in it? Is it for the heat or for the taste? If for the heat, then I'd say find something hotter rather than adding more of your usual stuff.

I like Cholula original for everyday. Sriracha on pizza and Pho (of course). I cook with Franks Buffalo sauce (posted previously in this thread). All of these are not really that hot though. Well the Sriracha is but I use less of it. Not a sauce, but crushed red pepper is always within arms reach as well.

I feel like I've heard about that Aardvark sauce a bunch. I think I need to try it, something about it looks good.

It's great as a regular addition to most restaurants here in Portland and there is a buzz about it. I'd grab it over tabasco, cholula, or tapatio. I don't know if I'd put it over any of the heavy hitter Caribbean sauces but only specialized restaurants are gonna have those.

At most Thai places they usually have chopped bird's eye chili soaking in some fish sauce or something and that is another good way to add some heat.

It's actually not for the heat at all really. I mean it's nice to have the little kick, but it's the peppery/vinegar/salty taste that does it.

I use sriracha too when i need more of a kick. I'm pretty versed in the ways of the sauce.
Some might say I'm lost in the sauce.

please don't do it.

cause one of us goes in and we all go through it.

Haha, no problem if you enjoy it! I just think its the worst; would much rather have Tobasco or Sriracha if I want a light spice to it.

The aforementioned After Death is really good, not too hot (50k SHU, although I guess that's like 100x hotter than Franks). I only have some Grace Habanero stuff in my fridge right now, kind of like a spicier Tobasco but not that hot.

We had a bottle of Black Mamba before (1m SHU) and one drop was enough on my sandwiches and wraps most of the time. Good stuff.

Noooooooooooooooooo

I like my food swimming in hot sauce. My quesadillas for example:
- Hot sauce inside the tortilla
- Hot sauce on top
- Hot sauce on bottom
- Dipping hot sauce

10/10

I dunno man, maybe in some sort of hot dip with sauce mixed in but the sauce itself? Seems odd to me.

Hot sauce and very spicy foods in general are amazing to me!

In fact, I'm paying for my love of spicy foods right now in a bathroom stall at school...

I love hot sauce and put it on a lot of things but not like my fiancee and my mom. Both just drench their food with it and can eat the hottest sauces without any issues. It's honestly disturbing how much they put on.

I encourage all hardcore hot sauce lovers to try this: http://www.pepperpalace.com//v/vspfiles/photos/N185-2T.jpg

It's more a novelty item than actual flavoring for food because of how hot it is. I went to the physical store of the website above in New Orleans and tried some. It was...an interesting experience.

Calm down, it was just a joke, are you really taking a comment about pepper sauce as a serious insult?

Sauces are srs business mr!

Will pick it up.

Not sure how well it fits in this thread but Spicy Chili Crisp is my current addiction:

This stuff is sold at Chinese markets for less than $3 a bottle. Amazing on anything and even straight out of the bottle.

The guy on the bottle looks like he was ordered to make a delicious chili sauce against his will

I can't eat pizza without this

it's not technically hot sauce though

Tapatio is good and cheap. Tabasco is the GOAT. Don't forget Gringo Bandito, it's not that hot but the flavor is fantastic.

tapatio is so damn good

I toss that on everything. one of my favorite snacks is cheese and crackers drenched in tapatio.

I pretty much need hot sauce to enjoy most food. It's ridiculous. I used to drink cholula. It was a running joke with my friends. Too much sodium so now I just put a few dabs of habanero tobasco on everything and it does the trick

My body lets me know when I have had enough. I can't have hot sauce too often.

I'm Mexican we put hot sauce on everything and then we eat it with tortillas. We even eat tortillas with tortillas.

I put it on everything and have a collection of sauces from all over the world. Use everyone of them too.

Franks and el yucateco are my favs. But the past few years my go to has been crushed red peppers on everything. (Or crushed caribbean habanera's when I make them)

I've only just started getting into the hot sauce craze and this thread is sure making me crave some right now.

I love making fried rice, adding some veggies, and rolling it up into an omelette covered in siracha or another sauce.

Man, I like hot sauce but I can't handle the heat. The Tabasco green pepper sauce is good. Adds flavor and not too hot.

Anything similar? I think I have a bottle of Crystal too that isn't too hot for me.

weird this thread came up just now.

what are they putting in hot sauce these days? i was having dinner with family and people were commenting on my obsession with hot sauces.

i mean, real, deep, obsession. i can no longer eat food without it.

I went through a phase years ago. It started with the first time I had sriracha sauce at a Vietnamese place. The proper brand at that. From there I was going to expensive, trendy markets to purchase all kinds of hot sauce, researching different kinds on-line, etc.

I don't even remember when I stopped being such an enthusiast. Now I just keep a bottle of the rooster sriracha, Tabasco, some Texas Pete, and some Yucateco (green chilis).

If you're looking for a verde sauce, Lucky dog Dia del Perro is the best verde sauce I've ever had. Mild heat, awesome flavor. Here's a review, kind of annoying, but his reviews are on point
