Unity really killed the franchise for me. This one doesn't look much better. Maybe if we could've played as a Templar again.
I gave up after AC3, that game was terrible beyond belief. I'll never touch another AC game ever again, if it dies with Syndicate it's already 3 years too late.
If they want to save the franchise, they need to do something unique to seperate the games from the past iterations. Something like AC in the future -- I'd take one in a Blade Runner like world. Packed steets, rain, crazy architecture.
Then when they return to historical settings, it would feel fresh again.
I didn't buy Unity but I'm looking forward to Syndicate.
Then again I enjoyed Revelations, so what do I know?
I'm on Gaf all day. Everyday.
I'm on Gaf at work too.
I had no clue this game was coming out this week. Holy shit no one really gives a fuck.
It's not the setting that is the issue but the way the gameplay is still exactly the same. Map filled with repetitive (and shitty) side ops that don't tie to the main game in any way. Lots of people including me liked AC4 because with the ship battles it had something other than the usual Assassin stuff. It was also fairly light on the future bullshit.
Syndicate doesn't interest me at all because it does seem like yet another game in the series. Nothing I've seen of the gameplay excites me even though Victorian London is a good setting.
I'd rather see them make a better game every two years than having one every year.
Its not even on top 20 on best selling Amazon.com list
And game comes out this week? Its going to bomb hard.
I actually agree. People who are down on the series have such low expectations that there really is no way for them to be let down by Syndicate. I have a feeling most of those people still aren't going to play it even if it gets great reviews, but a lack of negativity around the release of Syndicate could make selling the next game much easier.AC is usually an automatic purchase for me. The games are always at least ok and they're nice to look at.
Maybe it's for the best that there isn't a lot of hype because people are less likely to be disappointed. AC:U was one of the first non cross-gen multiplats and they talked up the new engine and blah blah blah, so people were let down when it came out. Not the case this time.
For me, it is.19th Century London is boring? Ok then.
19th Century London is boring? Ok then.
It's SUPER boring. It baffles me how anyone can look at a trailer for this game and think "oh man, I want to explore THAT world!"
It's the beginning of the end, I'm afraid.
Modern day in Unity is actually an interesting beast. On one hand there is practically zero story progression for the modern day setting, but on the other hand the modern day elements are fused into the actual game a lot more than any other game in the series. In most AC games it is easy to forget that there is a sci-fi element until it pulls you out for story reasons, but in Unity it is everywhere. So I guess it depends on what you want out of the modern day, story or gameplay/atmosphere.I only realized it was coming out next week earlier this week and I generally enjoy the franchise. I never played Unity due to the reception it got but if Syndicate continues the trend of reducing the modern day aspect then I might be done with Assassins Creed. Black Flag handled it in a really cool way and it is the reason I went back to them each year.
Thank god. The first one was innovative then it became the cash grab call of duty became. Let the team work on something new
They took the sword(s) away, that's foolish. Who wants to get into fist fights with drunken Brits.
I'm looking forward to it the same way I find myself looking forward to new AC every year somehow. Unity was really lackluster, but they've yet to make two bad games in a row.
