Is there any future in a PSVR2?

So I browse Facebook marketplace a lot, and sometimes I just jump on things cuz I think they might be good deals. Someone was selling a PSVR2 on there for $100, and I snatched it up. They were just looking to get rid of it, and I've already tested and played it, and it works great. Rez Infinite is still a hell of an experience.

That said, we all kinda know Sony probably doesn't give a shit about the PSVR2 anymore. Do you think even after my bargain price, did I make a good investment? I was browsing the available VR games on the PS store, and it really is slim pickings. I got RE4 and RE8, so I'll probably give those a go sometime. Being the Weeb that I am, I saw that there's some title called Dyschronia Chronos Alternate on sale right now. Might get it just to have something else to try. I think Hitman also recently got it's VR2 add on which I should probably try since I love that game.

Still, the future does look bleak for the peripheral. At least in terms of how Sony might support it in the future. Maybe I should get the PC attachment and a bluetooth adapter? What do you all think? Other PSVR2 owners, what are your current feelings on the device?

Nobody knows what the future will be for niche products, but imho on psvr2 there are already so many great games, on a very high end shape, to be worth of an entire gen. And still they are coming.
And I really hope to see a psvr2 mode for Light No Fire. I would probably play it for years.

No, at least until Sony does start selling replacement Sense Controllers separately.

Right now, regardless of whether the platform does have enough games or any kind of discussion along those lines, the truth is that if you get drift on the controllers or damage them somehow, you're fucked and your half-a-thousand bucks purchase is worthless.

I'm guessing this will happen when Apple starts selling the Vision Pro 2 but who knows when/if that will happen with all the tariff stuff.

I don't think there's a mass-commercial future for VR in gaming in general, not just PSVR2. It'll be a niche platform, get some support, mostly from indies, and stay that way.

GT7 on VR2 with a wheel is amazing
As enticing as this always sounds, because I just love the idea of it...having a wheel setup just always seems like something I can't justify the space or money for. I'm not a uber racing sim player, but I would just enjoy the idea of playing a car game and being immersed in it. Just too pricey to get the right seating and wheel setup, and too much space needed.

I don't regret it and I paid full price. Go back and play some games that have released.

GT7 will floor you. The reaction videos are real. The amount of fun the family had with beat Saber and even kayak VR was worth it.

I don't know what kind of games your into but I'm sure you can find something since you already own it.

Do you have the PS app? Go check out the PSVR2 section, it's bigger than I remember and I haven't been for a while. Then again I've played 1 game this year.

You can also race using the Dualsense, which actually has fantastic feedback to how your car is interacting with the ground.

In that case, I probably look for a copy of GT7 at some point...

Ya know, one racing game series I have had a lot of fun with is Forza Horizon....god, it would be amazing if they added PSVR2 support to the PS5 version FH5, but we all know that ain't happening.

I bought it at its temporally reduced price kinda recently, knowing that Sony does not support it much. There are several bad decisions they made, but not getting easy stuff like EA WRC VR support were alarming pretty early and finally Astrobot ignoring it proved that Sony does not give a shit anymore themselves. While Bethesda supported VR1, which stopped with MS leadership naturally, so only Capcom understood the assignment with VR2. That's not enough games from the prime developers. VR can't be sold decently, when all it has is GT and RE to receommend ..... two games .... and stuff practically no one outside of VR enthusiasts circles cares about.

Hell I thought it was worth at full price on release let alone for $100!! You got yourself a proper bargain tbf, that's a lotta tech for buttons, sure Sony have abandoned it like an ugly ginger kid but we still get the odd trickle of games plus there's the hope that the next Resi Evil supports VR and let's face it VR is the single best way to play the resident evil games

Started with HL2 VR yesterday

Its great additon to ps5 library as some games are just awsome. Re4 remake, Re8, Gt7, Hitman World of Assasination and No man sky proved that hybrid approach is the way to go tough sad we only have few titles like that.

In my opinion no. Not only its overly expensive but also not everyone can use it without getting sick.
You shouldn't be allowed to post.

To answer the ops question. Yes. PSVR2 has a great future. Devs are still developing for it and there are some great VR conversion titles like Hitman. Well worth it. The current catalog is stellar and offer the best VR experience you can gave on any VR platform.

It's a great device that is unfortunately collecting dust for me... While I liked some of the experiences I do not currently feel the urge to get back to it often... But I still have not tried HL:Alyx.. and never understood why it's not on PS5+PSVR2.....That could have been a great platform for that game...

Yeah, Sony should have really knocked on Valve's door for that. That seemed like such a no brainer when VR2 was announced, to get that game in front of more people.

This is their last VR headset.

They stopped all first party development.

The best you're going to get out of it are some of the usual deals and exclusives like Capcom RE games, and some other third parties.

Sony believes just because of their dominant position in the market, VR devs will line up to apply for devkits and submit their code to publish, like normal games.

VR is an entirely different platform than traditional games. They had an installed base of <10 million consoles with PSVR and now with PSVR2 it's <5 million and that's why you're getting PC driver support to recoup the R&D and the manufacturing costs of the first batch of these headsets.

Absolute delusional approach to a niche market just like what Apple estimated the MR market with the Vision Pro, with no support from 1st party or even the biggest market in video games, AAA 3rd party and indies.

VR's future entirely relies on Valve and OpenVR, and it will be driven purely by indies. Even though they are ahead now, not even Facebook and Oculus can stop OpenVR.

The only Console manufacturer who has the IP, budget and dev teams to compete in a closed VR space, is Nintendo. Then again, Nintendo would not release hardware if it isn't affordable, think less than the Switch 2 MSRP with tariffs included.

No. It's just barely ok device.
Wire, bad head strap, uncomfortable, small sweet spot, wired film on oled that ruins black levels.

It's ok but. It enough compared to oled gaming on tv

You just see slim pickings because you're only looking for the big name stuff. There are plenty of great indie games on the platform and a lot more coming this year. I'd recommend you browse some VR youtuber channels like Without Parole, Matteo311 or even Beardo Benjo. They cover most good indie games (aside from the big name stuff)

How many of those indies aren't also on the Quest 2/3 which could still work on a Quest 4? Those are also compatible with PCs while remaining fully wireless.

It's unfortunate that the developers won't go all in. The software has to come before you get the numbers in hardware. I had hopped that Sony would make more of a push, but it seems like they gave up on this one before it even launched.

I don't get why people just can't accept VR just being a smaller niche market.
I think PSVR2 is a great option for a PS5/PC headset.
I also have a backlog of great VR games including a few recent bangers like Metro and Behemoth.
VR is fine, it is what it is.

There will be new games but beyond that there is no future for PSVR. Meta and PC headsets are the future.
I do love my Q3 so I agree with that. All about them trophs for me with psvr 2 😅

But all In all I just think vr is in such a sweet spot, batman shouid convince anyone. Its almost nuts that its where it's at even now, sometimes it's mind blowing
