Is this the cringiest scene in the MCU (Spiderman 2017)

I was watching it the other day. Mediocrity aside, I locked up on this:

What is the purpose of this scene other than baiting? How did the city even approve this?

Wow she right, I need to buy a Spiderman comic! :messenger_pensive:

I watched this movie once and did not like. I watched FFH and did not like.

Anyhoo... This made me want to go learn something! Would have been nice if the teacher engaged in a intellectual debate...

Doesn't this behavior dismiss the work of their ancestors though?

Slaves or not, they built it, it should be a reminder of how disgusting is slavery but also a reminder of the great work the people who built it were capable of doing.

It's a monument built with sacrifice, it has meaning and wonder and should make you evaluate the past to understand what's right or wrong.

This cunty edgy sjw behavior is so stupid and dumb. Fucking assholes.

They hate their ancestors for being slaves.

The Feminist March was way worse than that throwaway scene that is easily ignored. Having a timeout in the final battle to show how strong wahmen are was just groan inducing.

You saw it as baiting, I saw it as an interaction between a student and teacher that reversed the roles in a way that was nothing more than a little joke (which is where the security guard came in). Harmless.

The women's march was more on the nose, but it was so minor and inconsequential. Outside of Ms Marvel, which of them actually make a difference? They needed to band together to stand a chance.

If you're looking to be upset, you'll find something to be upset about. It's not healthy.

comic book movies are generally pretty dumb, yeah. Except for Tim Burton's Batmans. Batmen?

Almost everything about the MCU is cringe, including the name and it's sycophants.

But yeah, that does take the cake. I wonder how many people watched that and developed a worldview off what a Spider-Man movie told them? That's why they do this.

Its to build her character. I'll allow it. "Women Assemble! and Goop Girl in Iron Man 3 were pretty bad. I'm sure their are cringy male moments as well. I remember rolling my eyes a bit in Avengers, Ultron and the first GOTG.

Can't get enough moral grandstanding presentism in my superhero movies. Pretty sure MJ there has an iPhone that's assembled by MODERN slaves and will some day have the precious metals extracted by acid baths and fire by MODERN slave children in India who will die early and horribly from the experience, but Transatlantic slavery is the only form that's ever mattered.

Bravo, MJ.

Yea, this one for sure. Honestly, if I was a feminist I'd be even more pissed off because it basically says "none of these women can really inspire or be powerful on their own in their own screentime, so let's do a cringy montage followed by this group shot to get women off our back"

It was so egregious and stuck out like a sore thumb. This actually was worse for me than the spiderman 3 dance scene.

Pre-program the mind, prepare it for perceptual changes in reality.

How many snapchat filters, for years, covered your face in a mask?

I remember watching that scene and thinking "bitch can fly through spaceships, what the fuck are you going to do".

Nothing about that movie made sense and honestly the whole movie was pretty cringey.

Hulk dabbing
America's ass
Cap giving Falcon the shield after betraying everything he stood for
Giving the throne of Asgard to a recovering alcoholic and former slave trader you've known for like a day in Asgard years because your mom told you were never capable of becoming more than you were.

the list goes on.

Like do u think this was put in to appease extremist liberals or the Chinese govt? Lol at movie studios cutting out gay and black people for China and then they go around and trash America.

Lots of people are pedants about "censorship" and whether the government is directly doing it or not. If the incentive is there to appease the wishes of a foreign nation it kinda doesn't matter if the govt explicitly makes a law against speech. These cowards reap great rewards from the American corporate system who are they of all people to bite the hand that feeds?

Nothing is worse than the Spiderman 3 dance scene. Ok, maybe the Fantastic 4 dance scene.

I don't know how a script written back-to-back with Infinity War, by the same people, turned out so bad, and missed or outright contradicted so much of what made that great.

It's like they put everything they had into Infinity War, then completely burnt out and phoned this in.

I guess I'm in the minority I enjoyed this scene because when I looked over at my daughter she was smiling seeing some female heroes that she loved get a cool scene . I guess it depends on how you look at it
It's a cool shot. You can almost miss it if you're caught up in the climax in general since so much is going on.

Silly that there was ever a fuss. People need to suck it up sometimes. Female superheroes are badass.

Slaves built the pyramids. Is she too far up her own ass for that too?
I bet a 40 year old fat white guy wrote that line too.
Fucking sad sacks.

Agree I was more annoyed by captain marvel because you didn't have me line than that scene

I bet that Your daughter would smile too if they were men..

I wonder, why did you need to mention this line at the end? You think women are so insecure they need someone to spell it out for them? You think they can't just be "badass" on their own, without anyone mentioning it? Have you ever seen this behavior when referring to male superheroes or characters? It's basically the same thing mothers do when they mention how perferct or beautiful their own children are. It's called pandering.

You nailed it. Funny how much the "other side" gets shit on for making mountains out of molehills yet here we are, constantly.
