It’s crazy how much a similar fate Microsoft and Sega had

Microsoft won't suffer the same fate because they finally wisen up and decided to focus heavily on Fallout and that is the key to their golden age. They need to focus on Fallout hard so not just remasters but Fallout 5 and a second brand new AAAA non numbered title like New Vegas. Fallout 5 will take place in the east coast and this other brand new Fallout game would take place in the west coast. Have Fallout 3 and NV remaster of course but the big focus needs to be on Fallout 5 and the other non numbered Fallout title asap so they get both get release within the next 5 years.

I'd trade Sega's entire library for the first Halo trilogy.

Both had successful runs with there second consoles 360 and Genesis. Then they both went downhill after and slowly went into third party after there 4th console release Series S/X and Dreamcast. I'm not including the 32X, Sega CD and Xbox one X.

Sure, if you separate Microsoft's gaming division from the larger company, I suppose their console businesses may have ended up in a similar fate.

The thing that really hurt Sega was the slow death of the arcade, as a large chunk of Sega's profits came from their arcade division with the console market being a side hustle.

If I remember correctly; a lot of old Sega financial sheets always showed their arcade division raking in most of the profits for the company. That died off around 2000.

Also strange that they were kinda the replacement for sega after sega dropped out, I think the design for the controller was even based off Dreamcast controller or something
