It’s crazy how much a similar fate Microsoft and Sega had

Should I sell my Series X?

In no known or unknown universe or dimension is Microsoft capable of releasing something with the nuclear blast-levels of sheer joy and fun as Crazy Taxi.

Umm… no, not really.

The history of Sega consoles:
  1. SG-1000 (Mark I) – 1983
  2. SG-1000 II (Mark II) – 1984
  3. SEGA Mark III / Master System – 1985 (Japan) / 1986 (Worldwide)
  4. SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis in the US) – 1988 (Japan), 1989 (US), 1990 (Europe)
  5. Game Gear – 1990
  6. SEGA Nomad – 1995 (US only)
  7. SEGA Saturn – 1994 (Japan), 1995 (US/Europe)
  8. SEGA Dreamcast – 1998 (Japan), 1999 (US/Europe)

The history of XBOX:
  1. Xbox – 2001
  2. Xbox 360 – 2005
  3. Xbox One – 2013, Xbox One S / One X – 2016 / 2017
  4. Xbox Series X and Series S – 2020
Microsoft started to decline with the launch of the Xbox One, especially outside the United States.

Which kind of makes what happens to Xbox turning out this way even more embarrassing. Tons of money doesn't mean much against bad decision after bad decision.
In reality tons of money actually makes the outcome worse in this kind of scenario. When there is no penalty for failure, there is no sense of urgency, and no motivation to actually produce a good product

Which explains all Microsoft products and services actually, not just gaming

I wasn't really tied into the meta of what was happening behind the scenes with Sega in the late 90s ( I doubt many were back then), so I was shocked when the plug was pulled on the Dreamcast. From my POV I was having the time of my life with that system when it was out.

But they're really nothing alike, asides from the obvious difference in scale. Microsoft just seems so sterile and cold by comparison( and that's in relation to every other major console manufacturer the past 30 years, not just Sega), just a giant ole mega-corp whose tried to buy its way to success in lieu of the creative will and talent to nurture enduring legacy IP. I wish they'd just sell off some of their properties to someone who may actually do them justice. At this point I'm just waiting for them to announce that Fable is getting cancelled. I was a huge OG Xbox/360 fan, but they're losing me.

To be fair the Series has sold over 32M, Dreamcast only sold 9M. In fact the Series is more on par with Nintendo 64 which sold about 32M as well and 11M more than Gamecube which sold about 22M.

Y'all keep making these threads, ima keep making this same meme over and over.
I wonder why there would be so many "Xbox is dead" threads? Just when they axed several studios. After years of not giving numbers in their reports. With an Asus 3DO scheme in the horizon. And after all their games coming to the rival platform…
