I once got 3 warning points for posting a pic of Phil laughing. I also got 3 warning points for posting a Marty Mcfly gif in a thread made by the user 'Marty Mcfly' lol.

Sometimes the mods get it wrong, but overall they do a fantastic job.
My only worry is that there are a few posters where it must be 90% of their posts are console war posts, yet thye are still here. I mean many on here know who they are, and the mods arent stupid so.

it's not that straight forward either. I always get accused of being an Xbox fanboy for example, as soon as I say anythbad about anything Sony related... but I shit on Microsoft stuff for days on end and get no such accusations for the opposite... it's weird.

so I wouldn't trust anyone's opinion on here either when it comes to classifying someone as a console warrior.

I think I get that label often because I am very direct with that I think about certain games and I also often do not align with what the mainstream thinks.

example, I absolutely hate Naughty Dog and anything their game design philosophy stands for. I think their games are a joke... terribly designed mainstream fodder for 50yo casual gamer dads.
that got me into hot water at times...
yet I also fucking hate 343i with every fiber of my being, and make no secret of it... that somehow is way less controversial even tho I say even worse things about them.

Let me preface this first by saying...

I do own an Xbox Series X, despite what others might claim.

And I dislike the series S in the same way I dislike Sony's new love of "Cross generation games," now currently the series S has not held Microsoft back, that's because the Xbox One/S/X has currently been the one to do this. Essentially when you design a game you have to design it for the lowest common denominator.

As a PC player it's why I have to buy £4000 PC's just to achieve slightly better than console preformance, because when you have to design a game around weak hardware it can only effectively scale so far. I know I know, PC's have thousands of variations the Series only has two, and your right, however there is still a demand on publishers that if they want there game on Xbox it has to work well on the series S. That will inevitably effect how specific games are designed, a load wall here, lower textures there etc, and instead of making games for the Series X and getting them to work on the S, it is far far easier to design games for the series S and get them to work on the X.

It's why I was happy with Sonys choice to essentially just release a disc vs no disc version as at least then they have the same console running the games. However yeah now we have essentially PS5 titles hamstrung because they need to work on the base PS4, something I don't like, however I know eventually it will go away... with the series S, that's hamstrung for the entire generation.

Honestly it costs more to buy a digital only Series S + a 1TB memory card than it does to just buy a Series X and with only 400GB of usable storage space unless you upgrade your going to want to. That's my personal thoughts on it, and I think it's many peoples they just don't voice it anymore incase they get smacked by the ban hammer, hence why I prefaced this with a picture of my actual console.

You have provided a more thoughtful perspective than most. The idea that the XSS would 'hold the generation back' was never a serious concern. The XSS I'm sure you know has the same CPU as both the XSX and the PS5. So things like AI, physics and anything not related to resolution should need no compromise. No one can point to a level or game design element that had to be removed on XSS.

In addition every game hitting Xbox will hit PC which means a multitude of even lower speced devices will need to run those titles. Those games will have a bigger impact on game design than the XSS will.

Third parties have shown no interest in making XSS version of games run well currently. Games like Dying Light 2 came out missing the 60 fps mode and much hay was made about it only to later be patched in. This indicates it wasn't given any more consideration than the last generation systems the game also ran on.

A developer choosing not to optimize an XSS title doesn't mean the system isn't capable of better performance. I'll look to MS released titles to get a real gage of what the XSS can do.

The storage on the XSS is easily mitigated with an external storage device. You don't have to buy the proprietary device at all and it supported those external devices day one.

In the end there has been no evidence that the XSS has hurt customers or negatively impacted the industry. It has allowed people who didn't want to spend more money an option to play current generation games and it has also allowed MS to give more people access to their ecosystem. The same cannot be said of the 'paper' launch of the PS5 DE which clearly wasn't made in the same volume as the XSS.

If people don't like the XSS why not ignore it and not buy one. Perhaps it will just disappear and MS will end it's support. Speak with your wallets, snide comments on message board forums does little.

I think there is a bit of a split between the campaign and the multi-player. Big fans of the classic campaigns seem to like the campaign a lot. I've just barely started it, so, can't really make a judgement myself, though I was never the biggest Halo player.

ok that explains that, but it doesn't explain how "I hope the sequel is not as mundane" is even remotely something to delete ot send a warning message for... like... what?

The reason could be that everyone and their mother bash 343 so bashing them is kinda the norm, but nd are considered some of the best devs by many people so when someone heavily talk shit about them it could be see as some hate\troll speech.

It was really funny the other day when I was shitting on Sony's gift card fiasco and then a poster in another thread accused me of never finding fault with Sony "no matter what". The timing was a bit hilarious. Obviously I am a fan of Sony games and I love Naughty Dog every bit as much as you hate them. Ideally that should be fine. Just opinions.
