Scrooged is one of my least favourites actually, I love A Christmas Carol and who doesn't love Murray? But something about that movie just doesn't feel like the holidays to me.

I would say A Christmas Carol, followed by Home Alone, then Christmas Vacation

Obligatory - DH is not a christmas movie, to quote myself from another thread:

I never put Die Hard on during the holidays. It being a Christmas movie feels like a more recent bugmanism - "Fuck yeah the best Christmas movie is the one with guns and splosions!" Sure, it is set during Christmas time, and you see a few Christmas trees here and there, and hear a Christmas tune a few times, but the holidays are basically completely unnecessary for the plot. When John references the Christmas party, the yuppie cokehead clarifies that the reason for the party at the Nakatomi building was half because they just closed a huge business deal. If that were the entire pretext for the party, the movie doesn't change at all.

Elf is pretty good. I also like a lot of those old black & white films from the golden age of cinema.

But favorite is probably Christmas Story. And if you like the movie, check out the books. They're even better (and not all Christmas stuff).

I sense a pattern here. You don't care for the darker holiday movies lol. That's cool. Scrooged is the only one I rewatch regularly. Bad Santa is a once every few years thing. I honestly forget it had a sequel. Probably a good thing.

I like ones that make you feel good about family and the holidays. Scrooged is not the worst in that regard but there's something about the overall aesthetic and plotting that I don't enjoy, I've only seen it a couple times.

It's awesome dude. I saw it at the Redford Theater here in Detroit. Really old theater where they have a live organ player who rises from the ground during intermission and everything

Anyway so after intermission (I think?) they bring out this frail old bag and shes like "I was the baby in this movie!" and we all applauded at the fact she was still alive.

Good times. Awesome movie

Hollywood is morally and creatively bankrupt, and there's only so many possible holiday centric story ideas. New Christmas movies tend to be less about traditional enjoyment of the holiday and more about cultural subversion - Bad Santa, 4 Christmases, A Bad Moms Christmas, etc.

I can't say for certain. I thought I heard one of the henson kids thought the song was to dark for the munchkins after they looked at it again. Should be on youtube. "The love is gone" should be the name.
