Currently, it's only available for Mac users via Software Update, though I suspect Apple will update the iTunes webpage shortly with 4.9.
Let the podcasting begin.

Fucking fantastic. That sounds great.Nash said:Podcasting seems very well implemented. It's integrated into the store, but instead of buying the podcasts they are free. You just subscribe to them and iTunes will automatically download them when they are updated. It's like radio shows on demand.
Like the idea of a podcast for the new music releases each week, and looks like it's easy to publish your own podcast. Also talks about 'enhanced podcasts' with images and links while a podcast plays.
Apparently the language files for iTunes4.9 includes lots of messages relating to an iPod phone, so looks like the Motorola iTunes compatible phone will finally be getting a release next week.
Edit: Just been listening to the New Music Tuesday podcast, and if you have Show Artwork turned on in iTunes the artwork changes as the podcasts plays, showing you the cover and name of what's being played. And a link to buy it if you want. There's a book button at the top of iTunes that lets you jump to the different parts of the podcast, complete with icons for the different chapters as well. It's all very well done![]()
they have a directory in the music store. www.twit.tvJackFrost2012 said:okay, recommend me some podcasts like now plz
They will come. I don't know if it's nessesarilly a good thing at the moment, considering a gaming podcast show I've heard, which was downright embarassing, but I'd love to see a truly good one pop up. I'd certainly subscribe. Shit, we should start an official GAF gaming podcast.sp0rsk said:are there any gaming podcasts?

That doesn't appeal to me, because I have no desire to listen to any radio programming anyways. And I don't really care about non-radio stuff , because then it just seems like blogging-turned-broadcasting, and blogging is another thing that I don't really get.
So, are there more practical uses I'm not aware of? Or is podcasting just for people who never sit still, have no free time and need easy access to the type of stuff it offers? I just feel like I can just get my news online, by myself, without having it fed to me through my ears.

It's "revolutionary" because it allows anyone to broadcast their own show and have an easy way for people to access it.Why is it "revolutionary"?

Now, for people like us, there's probably nothing revolutionary about the technology behind it. It's more about the idea of podcasting itself becoming mainstream that makes it revolutionary...basically because there's a lot of quality content that is being tracked and made accessible by PodCasting sites and, now, iTunes.

Come to think of it, I'm suprised there isn't one out there already.
Macam said:Don't worry, I'm sure IGN is working on an Insider-only broadcast where you can hear Matt wax poetic about armchair designing classic Nintendo franchises, Douglass Perry trump his own horn about landing a gig in the slave-driven game industry, or Craig Harris voice his laughable opinion on all things portable. Right after these messages of course. And these messages. And these.

It redirects you to the iTMS and makes you subscribe in that manner. For those of you not in the know, iTunes doesn't use the normal RSS mechanism, but instead uses a variety of proprietary tags - in essence creating its own bootleg proprietary RSS format.
Not liking that at all. Everything they needed was supportable by the RSS spec.
I had the same problem. Go and download a specific episode from the store and the show will be added again. Then delete the original and subscribe to that new one.Mrjellybeanct said:Anyone having problems with the Al Franken show? I subscribe, but it won't dl the recent show. It says there is a url problem or something when I try to update.

I have no idea what difference that makes, but that's what I did.
