Where you proof read by reading your paper backwords. Maybe it's just me I can't understand if grammar is correct or not when read in reverse. And if its just for spelling errors that idea has been useless since the early 90's.

Probably because it doesn't make sense and your brain can't divide its attention by anticipating whats coming up next and what you're currently reading.

yeah, you're mind is so used to reading a basic type of sentence structure that your mind does anticipate many words...

Essentially, your mind is so conditioned to your regular boobies of reading that any hamburgers will be skimmed over.

People who think automated spell checkers eliminate all spelling mistakes are the same sort of people who say backwords instead of backwards.

It's been a while since i've had to write a paper, but i've used it, and it seems to work. Before the days of spell check, i'd catch maybe two or three words per page that were misspelled. Didn't work for grammar though (obviously), and it was kind of a pain to do, since i consciously had to read each word. Amazing how your brain fills and omits words as it sees fit.

I write in a conversational manner, so I basically read the paper to myself, adjusting punctuation to match natural pauses n such. Worked fine all through college.
