Absolutely. I really enjoy video essays on youtube but so many have become self-indulgent and pretentious lately. Jacob is probably the worst for this. He tries so hard to intellectualise any game he does a video on and just flat out reads into things that aren't there.

It has become insufferable and is turning me off watching them in general.

Fair, but Jacob Geller could make a video essay about Astro Bot and it'd probably be the most dreary video about it for the next 20 years.
