Not really a known name, but was in a lot of movies and TV shows over the years. Was Carrie's dad on Homeland and the Secretary of Defense in Independence Day. R.I.P.

I always referred to him as "That Guy" whenever I saw in something since I didn't know his name. But I always enjoyed his work. R.I.P. James Rebhorn

RIP good sir.

Saving for retirement kinda scares me sometimes. Save up for 40 years only to enjoy it for 5. At least my kids get whats leftover if i croak at 65.

Damn shame, he's done a lot of great supporting work and stolen tons of scenes.

I'll always think of him when I think of plausible deniability. I hear it in his voice. That little bit introduced my young mind to that dreadful concept.

Edit: Wow, beaten.

I wonder how they'll work his death into Homeland. I doubt they'll recast him. Recasts are always weird.

I imagine Homeland will jump forward a bit to Carrie set up as station chief, so they could opt to write in that her father died in the meantime.

Yeah, probably.

Oh Christ, we could totally be subjected to that once again.

RIP, 65 is way too young.

Yeah. For me, 70 is the point at which dying would be acceptable. At 70 years old, you pretty much had the chance to do everything you wanted to do. You can still do stuff, depending on how healthy you are, but you should be more tired than before. At 80, though, that's the point where I would have zero qualms about dying.

70 is way too young at this point as well. 80's and up for me.

Damn, he was a great character actor. One of those guys who, sadly, I never realize were in as many things as they were until I'm reading their obituary.
