Just be happy that this is likely the last time we'll see Triple H, because if Hunter wants another match with Taker, he'll request the same thing from him that he asked of Shawn.

Punk doesn't have anyone else over enough to face at WM28 though...

Actually it'd be so awesome if the crowd just blew up and walked out or something, super low attendance for Raw following WM.

It'd be amazing.

This is how it SHOULD go down:

Cena beats Rock.

The next night on RAW, they both come out, shake hands, and as they're holding hands, Punk comes out and drops a pipebomb calling them corporate ass kissers and Dwayne a sell-out. He'll then say that he wants Austin at WM29 because unlike Dwayne, Stone Cold is a tough son of a bitch who doesn't kiss ass for nobody.

Dwayne and Punk can go at it all the way to SummerSlam until Austin comes out and Stunners both of them. Puts the Rock's KO'd body over Punk's for the pin and then roll on legendary feud.

Raw on 1/23 did a 3.17 rating and 4.61 million viewers, showing a little bit of signs of the usual January bounce back. The show was fourth for the night on cable and was the first Raw in months without any nationally televised sports competition.
That would explain the Male skew being 68.1%, the highest in months, and increases in the key demos with a 2.6 among Male teens (up 24% and being the highest rated show on TV that night in this demo which had been struggling), 2.9 in Males 18-49 (up 4%), 1.4 in Women 12-17 (double that of last week) and 1.1 in Women 18-49 (down 8%).
The show opened strong doing a 3.49 first quarter with the set up stuff with C.M. Punk, John Cena and John Laurinaitis. However, Punk & Cena vs. Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler lost 528,000 viewers. That's not unusual for the time slot, but you would think with Punk & Cena that people would have stayed past the first quarter. The Chris Jericho Highlight Reel segment lost 287,000 viewers. Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler which ended with the big sell stretcher job gained 601,000 viewers, which did well for the strongly sold angle. Sheamus vs. Jinder Mahal lost 490,000 viewers. Brodus Clay vs. Heath Slater gained 35,000 viewers. Miz vs. R-Truth lost 19,000 viewers. The tease of Punk vs. Laurinaitis and ending angle gained 761,000 viewers to a 3.54 overrun. That's normal level overrun growth, but better than usual for a segment anchored by Punk.
As far as the overrun growth, Teenage Boys went from 2.7 to 3.0, Males 18-49 from 2.8 to 3.4 (so this Punk/Laurinaitis was very strong in this age group), Teenage girls went from 1.1 to 1.2 and Women 18-49 stayed at 1.2. Basically a strong Punk anchored final quarter only hit males and women didn't care, whereas with Cena you usually get across the board growth. Although with the two of them
together wrestling you had drops across the board, with Teenage Boys dropping from 2.6 to 2.3, Men 18-49 from 3.0 to 2.8, Women teens from 2.0 to 1.9 and Women 18-49 from 1.4 to 1.2.

Raw on 1/16 drew what has to be considered the most disappointing rating in months, doing a 3.02 rating and 4.29 million viewers. This was the first weekend with no football competition, and while the rating was higher than the prior week, it's still in the same ratings range they were doing against football.
The show finished fourth for the night on cable. The leading sports competition was an NBA game on ESPN that did 2.36 million viewers. The show had a 65.3% male skew. They did a 2.1 in Males 12-17 (down 16% and the lowest I've ever heard in this demo), 2.8 in Males 18-49 (up 4%), 0.7 in Girls 12-17 (down 46%) and 1.2 in Women 18-49 (up 9%).
In the segment-by-segment, the opening segment with the return of Mick Foley, plus Dolph Ziggler and C.M. Punk did a 3.23. Primo & Epico vs. Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne lost 522,000 viewers. The Jack Swagger U.S. title win over Zack Ryder gained 207,000 viewers so Ryder finally had a segment with a meaningful gain. Kelly Kelly & Alicia Fox vs. Bella Twins with Perez Hilton lost 169,000 viewers. The Miz, R-Truth, Wade Barrett and Sheamus Battle Royal gained 526,000 viewers at 10 p.m. which is solid for that slot, and better than I would have expected. The John Cena/Jack Swagger brawl and Brodus Clay dancing and wrestling JTG lost 365,000 viewers. I'd have expected better with Cena. The Daniel Bryan/A.J./Big Show angle and Bryan interview lost 372,000 viewers. The main event with Punk & Bryan & Chris Jericho vs. Mark Henry & Ziggler & David Otunga, plus the ending with Punk, Laurinaitis and Foley gained 817,000 viewers, which is strong growth, and was the highest point of the show with a 3.32 overrun.

Matt Hardy is taking regular indie bookings starting in several weeks. One interesting booking is for Pro Wrestling Syndicate on 3/9 in Rahway, NJ, where he'll face Sid Vicious.

People have been heavily praising Jeff Hardy, in the sense that he has been clear headed 100% of the time on this run and while he's not the same in the ring because of injuries, it's like he's a different person. A lot of people are skeptical, because the number of times someone with bad drug issues from the past is said to have cleaned himself is many. The number of times in this business that it's true is a small percentage of those times, so whenever you hear that the response is to be skeptical. And the percentages are greatly on your side. Whatever the reason is, whether it's seeing what Matt was and realizing he was on the way there at one point, or serving time, or having a kid, who knows. The idea it's because he knows it's his last chance, well, that's less likely to be the reason. He's been told before it's his last chance and it never was, and this wouldn't be either if he screws up.

There is nothing on how the company is going to handle the Flair Hall of Fame situation. Flair was in tears all night as TNA was doing a taping in Orlando the day after Genesis when he got called by HHH and told they were going to announce it on the show. The taping was already over before Raw started, so Flair was at the bar with some people watching the LSU vs. Alabama game, when John Laurinaitis texted him to tell him what segment they would show the feature. Flair was in tears when the thing was on, saying how happy he was for the other four guys and vowing that he would be there, but also noting that he knew he would be hearing something from TNA about it.

Right now the plan for WrestleMania includes Rock vs. Cena, HHH vs. Undertaker, Punk vs. Jericho, Shaquille O'Neal vs. Show, a Smackdown title match, some sort of a womens' match so that doesn't leave a lot of spots for a multitude of people including Sheamus, Rhodes, Ziggler, whoever is on top from Smackdown not in the title match, Del Rio, Miz, R-Truth, Christian and Kane. Sin Cara also claimed he'd be back for the show although we haven't heard anything about him at all of late. The fact that Money in the Bank was removed from the PPV scheduled in the past week would seem to indicate MITB will be on the show as a way to fit in eight guys and have a hot match. Actually we were told this past week that the current Mania plan does include one Money in the Bank match where the winner would be able to challenge either the world champion or the WWE champion at any time.

They are looking for some surprise Rumble entrants like last year and the announced line that anyone on the roster is eligible to enter said on Raw is to set up at least one planned storyline. I'm guessing that if a title changes on the undercard, say Ziggler beats Punk, that Punk would then enter the Rumble type of scenario. There is said to be a major twist planned that necessitated that line being promoted. At press time, all that has been announced besides the 30 man Rumble is Punk vs. Ziggler for the WWE title with Laurinaitis as referee, Bryan vs. Show vs. Henry in a cage match for the world title, and Cena vs. Kane. Unlike in other years (although it wouldn't be the first time, although it's not normal procedure), the idea seems to be that several of the guys working the undercard will also be in the Rumble. Also, completely unlike the past, they have done very little to promote who actually is in the Rumble. I mean, we know Miz is entering No. 1, and Sheamus and Barrett have cut promos about it. Jericho said he's in it and I guess R-Truth is sort of confirmed. Foley is confirmed as well but the manner in which it was done made that as completely insignificant as it possibly could be. Nobody else on TV has seemed that concerned about winning the Rumble and headlining Mania. Really, the hype for the Rumble was at all-time record low levels until the go-home show where they did the updated annual Rumble statistics video and Lawler & Cole pushed it hard in commentary. The Rumble and Mania are the two shows that even when PPV business is down still do well.

The Cody Rhodes vs. Dustin Rhodes angle which was at one point set for Rumble, which they started and then stopped, is now said to be being looked at for the Elimination Chamber PPV.

The update on the make-up of the WWE audience by age. 22% is between the ages of 2-17. 23% is between 18-34. 26% is between 35-49. And 30% is 50 and older. Right now, half the WWE television audience is above 38 and half is below.

Rock is also at this point scheduled for the 3/12 Raw in Cleveland. They are also advertising HHH for that show, but I'm thinking HHH will be on most shows building up his match with Undertaker starting next week when he returns to do the job review segment with Laurinaitis in Kansas City.

Punk is the last person to drop the term sell out anymore. After all he became the COO's buddy during the walk-out. He, and the entire angle, is dead. Move on.

Kane vs. Zack Ryder which ended with the big sell stretcher job gained 601,000 viewers, which did well for the strongly sold angle.

I hate everyone.

Jericho loses, and that shit Kane/Ryder angle gains? Sigh.

Nah

Dwayne has disney things to do man.

Man, if I were in the E's talent relations, I would do whatever possible to get prince devitt to sign a contract. And non of that fcw sinkhole bullshit either.

Enjoy The Rock as a motivational speaker while I get to see the great one in the ring.

I'll take a Rock promo over a Rock match. Especially a match featuring John Cena. It's all about the charisma with that man. Then in a few weeks I will be sitting ringside for the CHIKARA/ROH Synergy event. So I will enjoy djsandman... I will enjoy... :)

I'll make sure to think of you when I sit ringside for Dragon Gate USA twice and what will probably be ROH/Noah.
