Oh right, Ling Tosite Sigure announced today (or was it yesterday) that they'll perform at Perfume FES!! this year. It's gonna be a great event!

Does anyone here like bands/artists such as MAKE-UP, X-ray, Blizard, Vow Wow, Mari Hamada etc? Essentially melodic rock from the late 70s-80s?

Anybody listen to any Ska Punk like Star Fucking Hipsters or some other kinda rough Melodic Punk?
WANIMA is the closest thing I can think of, but they're not very heavy.. I'm looking for something less garage-like than, say, Guitar Wolf.
My favorite (still active) Western Punk bands: Star Fucking Hipsters, Sonic Boom Six, Modern Life Is War. So, I typically like Hardcore Melodic Punk.

Japanese Punk I listen to: Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Uplift Spice, Nicotine, 死ね死ね団, Balzac, GAGAGA SP, Wrong Scale, Anti Feminism, Sobut, Odd-Bowz, 忘れらんねえよ, as well as more poppy stuff like Rodonrats, Scars Borough, Four Get Me A Nots, Unlimits, and Scotland Girl. Also, obviously I like The Blue Hearts.

Any other recommendations?

For Ska: Streetlight Manifesto, The Planet Smashers, and The Mad Caddies. So, I typically like Melodic 3rd Wave Ska with complex melodies and instrumentation.

Japanese Ska I listen to: DAD MOM GOD, Hey Smith, Ore Ska Band, Pistol Valve, Yum!Yum!ORANGE, Kemuri, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, GOLLBETTY, MINI SKA BOX, SHAKALABBITS, Witchery SKANK, Your Song Is Good, midnightPumpkin, Ska Ska Club, Skull Candy,
I prefer stuff like Kemuri, Dad Mom God, and Hey Smith—heavier on the horns, guitars, drums, bass, and not so Pop oriented.

Recs?

Yup. She was smart about it though, got a solid footing in the sportscasting gig for about 2 years before dipping out. Always wonder about the ones who graduate into the ether with seemingly no prospects ect. Guess some just want to live the normal life.

Speaking of Perfume I hope we'll get an album this year... And while I loooooved LEVEL3 I hope Nakata will not do album versions that double the length of the original singles... Magic of Love's remix wasn't nearly as good as the original.

Other things I want this year : full albums by ドラマチックアラスカ (major debut would be cool, but maybe in 2016/2017), ゲスの極み乙女。, Galileo Galilei, Yonezu Kenshi, WANIMA and Hoshino Gen.

The Spring of Life mix was the worst offender tho.

I already got most of the stuff I really wanted this year (new té, new tricot, new イツエ, and even non-Japanaese stuff like Lucy Rose, LukHash and pinkshinyultrablast). What I really, really want tho is full length from chouchou merged syrups. New Perfume and new ゲス would also be great. I believe COgeNdshE and me-al art are still doing shows, so a return would be good as well. And I also hope Melt-Banana didn't just came back for Fetch only and keep doing new stuff. And maybe I'm wrong, but looks like KPP won't release a full length this year?

I'm so excited for the new Susumu Hirasawa, 61 and he just keeps getting better, for the last month or so on Twitter he's been talking about recording nearly every day. The album's almost done, just needs to finish mixing. The majority of people only listen to his anime soundtracks, while they're amazing, his solo stuff proper is even more amazing. People are missing out big time. I don't say this often, but he's a genius.

A new KPP album looks unlikely yeah. I'm almost certain Melt-Banana will release more stuff.

I would also be surprised if melt banana called it quits. If being reduced to just Agata and Yasuko didn't do it, not sure what would. Plus honestly I think they just get better with age.

I wouldn't rule a new KPP out, the last one only had like two months notice. But it also kind of sucked, and she hasn't had many singles since. We'll see. Another "ring a bell" and I'd be done with her for good probably

Mondai Girl was alright. Invader Invader is the last song I really liked from her. Sophie was supposed to have written her some songs over a year ago, guess that's not happening now, unless they're being saved for a new album.

Nakata's moved on anyway. :p

Perfume's World Tour 3rd arrived in the mail today! It came with a sticker and a small booklet with photos. The Blu-Ray audio/video quality is good for a concert.
