new megumi wata is a letdown, however. the album cover is the best thing about it. the four songs are fine but i don't expect the release to be looked back on as anything but 'inessential'

it's ok to be wrong, I just want you to know that

it's a fine album, just not as distinctly 'megumi wata' as the first one. the songs tend to melt into ambience rather than blossom whimsically which, again, is fine just not as original

also, the interludes worked way better in the debut album which felt conceptually 'complete'

it's the definition of a nebenwerk so i can't be too harsh on it

Not easy to take the temperature with short extracts like that. The couple of new songs from the album we can hear (3 out of 8) in the trailer sound promising but haven't really caught my attention that much. But it was the same last year when ダイバー's 30sec version was released and it ended up being one of their best tracks so yeah, I'll just wait for the album! We'll see if they can top TIME (kinda expect it to be a TIME 1.5 though).

Put Boris at 90%, Merzbow at 60% volume. Actually quite good, which is surprising to me because I don't enjoy much of them when they're by themselves.

Well, actually, some time ago, after I discovered XINLISUPREME through I am not Shinzo Abe, I was curious to see what Noise was, so I decided to check Merzbow. I listened to Requiem (which later I found out is a cover), and i actually liked it. It has kinda the same noise "aesthetics" of XINLISUPREME's noise, and it has a structure. I listened to some other songs by he, but didn't like them as much. I imagine Noise in general is more like these, which don't have much of a structure. I whish it was more like XINLI tho, love the noise with structure and vocals.

And speaking of XINLISUPREME, I literally just checked them again and they just uploaded I am not Shinzo Abe (a new version) on a new channel. The Seaside Voice Guitar (with english lyrics) is still nowhere to be seen, and they're still missing from VB's Bandcamp.

wtf is up with this version. not a fan.

I halfway suspect that the only reason it's different is because they don't have the rights to the original version or something anymore, whatever fallout they had with Virgin Babylon

and yeah I thought Boris at 100, Merzbow at around 40 worked pretty well.

If you're in the US you'll be happy to hear that Suiyoubi no Campanella will perform at SXSW in March.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass oh my god. And here I was thinking they couldn't get good artists again this year. Man, this legit has me so pumped.

The thing with something like Live Aid is that in theory everyone at least cares about the reason for everyone getting together in a room and recording a song. What's the reason here, soft drinks? No one gives a shit and it shows.

Coke has definitely been on the forefront of "who gives a shit" songs recently

It's for the 5th anniversary of the label (and a bonus tie-up)
EMI Japan did something similar when one of their historic studios closed.
