the new Owarikara album is fucking fantastic. Their first major album, an they are retaining what made them so good in the first place. the wired accentuated vocals, the fun guitar, Their playful composition and their high production sound, with plenty of value (13 tracks!!!)

One of the best records this year.

This video is some art shit. Love it!

Awesome City Club's 3rd album once again pushed the boundaries of their sound. What an amazing release. The 7 tracks format of every album might seem not enough but I'm starting to think it's perfect. It's enough room to experiment and you never get filler tracks (フレデリック do the same thing, though I assume their next release will be a full album). This time they got a song with lyrics by Leo Imai, interesting to see other artists contributing to their work. Anyways, it's yet another great album by these guys and gals, one of the best releases of 2016 so far.
I still can't get over how hawt Porin is in their latest PV

2 weeks and 2 days away from the HIATUS's 5th album
I can't take it anymore
Release a PV please, throw me a bone. At least I have Suiyoubi and MY FIRST STORY's albums coming.

It's the first time I get albums by the HIATUS and KANA-BOON the same year. God bless 2016.

  15. *Epilogue* ~Just LOVE~

This could be her most boring album, ever. I'm not that excited for it but I have a bit of hope the album tracks are decent.

Tentenko has signed with Toy's Factory.

the best part is that I have no friggin' idea what that entails or what it means for her music. if they let her keep farting out weird demos each month, that's funny. if they have her make something more serious, that's funny.

at least I'll be able to buy whatever it is off Amazon

The new Suiyoubi no Campanella album feels like an extended version of the Triathlon ep, with only 3 of the 7 tracks produced by Kenmochi. Of those three I think Chupacabra is my favorite, Unico sounds like it belongs on the first album.

Phoenix is fresh as hell and Baku is a fucking trip. The closer Kraken is pretty much Yuta v2 and kinda boring.

Fun and different release overall.

Funny thing about the Suiyoubi album is that it's actually around the same length as all their other albums, but it's referred to as a ep and a mini album. It's 50 seconds shorter than Zipang.

Well it's still 7 songs, so yeah EP/mini-album is right imo.
They treat it like Triathlon, which is why they chose to have other producers on it (that's what they said on Twitter). They want their EPs/Minis to be different from the rest of their works.

Fffffffffuck, I missed Sakanaction's LINE LIVE with Boku no Lyric no Boyoumi, and it's not available on demand :(
30 seconds from it :'( So good :'(

As much as I enjoy her album releases, Triathlon is fantastic and I was obsessed with the title track for a while, so this is great news to me.

Alright finally listened to it and this post basically sums up my feelings.
Favorite song is definitely 雪男イエティ. Great album.

Just found out that the new member of Avandoned is the daughter of underground mangaka / Jim O'Rourke album cover artist Mimiyo Tomozawa. You can tell from her Twitter that she's a proud mom.

In case you missed it, this translated interview with Especia is maybe unusually candid and definitely worth a read.

Exciting that OTOTOY has posted an English article. Hopefully the first of many.

Boy, that Especia interview. Lots of real talk in there.

As a totally random but related aside, the Especia Memoria vinyls that sold out on HMV a while back appear to be back in stock, I just bought one off HMV.

Man, I randomly bought Rekishi's newest album cause I liked one the PVs. This is soooooooo great.
Some killer upbeat tunes, always about Japan's history (that's his whole shtick), sick collabs with Chatmonchy, Kyuso Nekokami, Gotch... No wonder why he's getting more and more popular.

I'll definitely get his other works, I'm in love.

Favorite comedians-hosts : Bakarhythm (my favorite owarai dude, his バカリズム案 are always hilarious. I need to see him live someday), Terumoto Goto and Atsushi Tamura

Atsushi immediately won me over on his show with Paruru. that was a great pairing. and his attempts at trying to wrangle all the guests on that idol summit thing last year.

New Kana Nishino album - Just LOVE / 07.13

Personally really like Instuction Manual but hopefully the other songs are good too.

Also went looking for the new Awesome City Club album today... city is a freaking waste land for music cds, might need to buy on amazon (I WANT IT NOW!)

He's my favorite comedian in Japan by far. Cool guy too, seems really down to earth and likes to interact with his fans on twitter and random meet ups ect. He does a new show now with the Ex-NMB girls as guests, Riho Kotani and Nana. Though it's been getting heat for its subject matter, stuff like people with open relationships, or other "that ain't standard womanly behavior." It's always funny to see Nana's reactions to people having sex though, and Riho's usual "pft w/e" to it haha.

Get on that ACC asap! The album is incredible <3

And yeah Atsushi is great.
He's been encouraging teens to vote recently, cool to see an entertainment figure doing this.

Awesome City Tracks 3 obtained! Now I just need to go to another show and get them to sign this one too! Also came with a free poster! I thought it would have been for EXILE since I bought their new CD too (And for fucking 4,000 yen why the shit din't it!?)

I like EXILE and all, and was sold on this CD because of the featuring artists like Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, VI, ect. and I get that they are the #1 act in Japan, but I had a real debate in the store if I would get his or not lol. I buckled and got it lol.

Great post. Another new Japanese band to discover. Getting their album off Itunes for sure.

Ahhhhh this song/vid makes me wanna travel to Japan right now. Wanna hang out with some chill homies.

Saw a pretty big display for them at the music store today, might need to check them out too.

Doesn't seem like it was mentioned recently but Boom Boom Satellites released a EP for Lay Your Hands on Me, the opening for the anime Kiznaiver, a couple days ago.

100_SMN4988009130286.jpg

1. "Lay Your Hands on Me" 6:01
2. "Stars and Clouds" 5:18
3. "Flare" 4:35
4. "Narcosis" 6:47

It be their last release as one of them, Michiyuki Kawashima, has had a fourth brain tumor relapse, and been having partial paralysis after it.:( I just recently notice that the EP actually gotten a international release least on Amazon even digitally, so bought, and I think it a great send off for this duo.

Shock of the new lineup/positioning aside, the new Especia doesn't actually seem too far off from their old material spiritually. I like that they're angling for a more mature/jazzy tone, but this EP might be a little too low-key for a reintroduction release.
