I agree but it's more effective in situations like this to just pull out your camera, start recording, and let the wildebeest roam. The embarrassment she'd receive in the few seconds she was in the store is nothing compared to what she'll get now that millions have seen this
The problem is, and I am not defending this woman whatsoever, we don't really know what this person's situation is. Maybe they just had a family member die, or just lost a job. Yeah it's a terrible way to respond and if they are assaulting people they should be charged, but this whole "blast a small personal incident to the world and make them a target" is just not a good way to function, and it's also irresponsible. Would you want your worst ever moments forever enshrined on the internet? We are just at a ridiculous point.

She may sort of deserve it, but I think it's odd to blow this up as a "video of lady mad over sandwich".
Seems like she has mental issues. Nothing to do with a sandwich really, but it is meant to give the story some sort of levity or even shock factor.

If anything being in a tough spot should teach you humility and empathy for your peers

I just love when someone gets murdered they say the person is 'insane'.....of course they are insane they killed someone. A right thinking person doesn't murder. Here, she gets violent and has the right of mind to steal food, a drink and the tip jar and you give her a pass saying she has mental issues. Of course she has mental issues! She shouldn't get a free pass!

Ok.Just remember that when you do something royally stupid and regret it later. 🤷‍♂️

Btw. You didn't even read my post apparently. I said I wasn't defending her at all. She needs to have some kind of consequence for her actions whatever her actions merit. My problem was this propensity to blow up small individual incidents like this into global referendums on a person. What happened was between her and the people in the shop, and that''s it. None of us need to know or hear about it.

As an American I see nothing wrong with this interaction. There was a concerning lack of use of a firearm though.

You can judge someone's character by how they handle themselves in a time of crisis. I've been through hell and back in life, and at no point did I assault multiple employees at a sub shop while causing a scene and stealing their tip jar

Your empathy is admirable, but you're giving her way too much credit here

This is far beyond just doing something stupid

A guy stole the tip jar from my local Starbucks a couple of weeks ago. The Starbucks employee making my drink emphasized that the guy was black when relaying the story to me (that's not the on-brand wokeness I go to Starbucks for!). Same employee made my drink wrong two days in a row this week. In conclusion, I think the first guy was in the right for stealing the tip jar, and that I am entitled to take their tip jar today.

I don't think she should get a free pass. But I don't think she needs to go viral as the crazy sandwich lady either. I'm not excusing her actions, I'm just not sure ridiculing people online, without knowing what is actually going on in their life, is the solution.

I suppose if she murdered someone that would be different.

I remember one time at KFC, I placed my order and waited off the the side with my receipt still in hand....15 minutes go by. I know because I had a 30 minute lunch break. There's a different girl at the register now, occasionally eyeballing me with uncertainty during that whole time before finally asking me "are you ready to order yet?" and I held up my receipt and said "I already did" Mind you that I'm the only one left in the place ...the confused look on her face would have been priceless had I not been standing there with my thumb up my ass for half of my lunch break. So I walk up and hand it to her, I could tell what she was thinking like "oh..fuck" She informed me that they never started my order. She didn't even offer me a refund or any kind of coupon or nothing.

I never once so much as raised my voice or said anything smartass. How many here could honestly pull a full on Anti-Karen attitude in that situation? I'm the king of patience.

That's sympathy, not empathy. Don't make me throw a sub at you.

I agree it's kind of lame how one bad event can follow you forever, but that's just the way it is. Complaining about it is like trying to beat up the ocean.

As a former retail employee I can tell you we get shit from people like this all the time. So she does need to be made an example of as a warning to other customers that you can't treat service workers like shit without consequence. I can say with 100% certanty that if this wasn't filmed that woman would have told a pack of lies about how she didn't do anything and the workers were rude to her.

One of the key indicators of someones personality is how they treat service workers, especially if something goes wrong.

Man I agree. I worked retail when I was younger. I've been threatened with murder by customers because we couldn't take a return on something destroyed with no receipt, etc. I still don't think those moments should be broadcast to the world. Again, none of us know what a person's situation could be. They could be days away from eviction. Death in the family. Just got bad health news. Who knows? That's the point.

Again I'm not defending this woman at all. I'm just not in favor of also trying to ruin someone's life because they acted like a complete idiot, stole a tip jar and threw a sandwich at someone.

That's fast food freaks for ya. The scummiest people arguing over an $8 combo.

You'll never see that at a nice steak house or a Williams Sonoma.
