Should have ran this year, he could have saved us. Trumps not even in office yet and he's already provoking China, who knows if we'll be around to vote for Joe in four years.

i think a lot about what would have happened if he ran this year.

even eliminating the factor of sexism might have put him over the edge. we probably overestimated america in that regard.

he'd be pretty old at that point but man at this point sure.

I love Joe Biden and wish he would have run this year, he probably would have won. The problem is, he might be a little bit too old. I mean, if he ran in 2020 he would be 78. He still seems pretty healthy though.

Joe had other plans.

Then his son died.

And Obama asked him not to run.

"The DNC" is not some shadowy cabal. It's an arm of the administration.

I stand corrected.

Anyway, Joe Biden is a solid guy. I can see him standing up well to Trump.

People live so long nowadays i would think it would be a non-issue.
plus if he does croak the vp just takes over.

um, no thanks.

like, joe's a cool dude, but bernie is the hero america needs.

joe is 100% establishment, and it would seem [from my canadian perspective] that america very much voted against the establishment in 2016.

Lol no. Biden especially after his VP run has become really beloved.

He would have been able to win because he can appeal to the disenfranchised white working class that Hillary lost, basically maintaining the Obama coalition.

I like HRC but the average person just doesn't like her.

They need to do their research, but we have to stop Trump in 4 years. Surely he will mess up and get impeached sooner, but he can not last almost a decade.

Why? Trump is like 70. We just need a populist, or star. Politics don't matter anymore.

Trump lost the popular vote by millions and narrowly won the electoral college against one of the least popular candidates in history. That's not a strong case for arguing that politics don't matter anymore.

So you're just making assumptions. Got it.
Also, plenty of reports during the run up to the primaries on the subject. I'm not pulling anything out of my ass here, all this stuff was crystal clear in the lead up to the primaries. Joe's family wasn't high on him running after his son died, Obama didn't want a nasty primary battle. Had they known Bernie was going to do what he did I suspect they would have wanted Joe in the mix, but hindsight is 20/20.

I don't think age matters that much when you've been through it all and are still going. If you get 4 years out of him, better than nothing and it can always lead into a successor.

It would be hilarious to see people who claimed Hillary wasn't liberal enough support Biden.

Hopefully Democrats have lots of capital come 2020 and I'd like to see them spend it on someone further left. Joe's cool though so I wouldn't be that disappointed.

Yeah, it kinda is... When you lose to Donald Trump.

Narrowly? He won 306 to like 232, that isn't narrow. Maybe in like 3 states.

Yes, Bernie poisoned the well. The vile fiend.

Literally any damn person serving in office as a Dem is part of "THE ESTABLISHMENT".

I'm telling you man... It's like, people are slowly starting to view having experience in the field as a bad thing. Nevermind the part where folks were happy with Bernie, but now are looking at Joes age.

It would be hilarious to see people who claimed Hillary wasn't liberal enough support Biden.

This too. Bidens not terrible, but hes to her right. I would honestly prefer someone more left than him.

We have an ex Goldman Sachs' guy as our lead Treasury.

Have you followed who Trump is assigning?

I love Joe, but running for a first term that would begin when he's 78 is a no-go. You'd effectively be voting for his VP.

For comparison, Trump just broke the record for oldest president elected to their first term and he's "only" 70.

Is it wise to run another Establishment candidate in 2020?

And this would be the line against him in the primaries. Joe is very different than Hillary in personality and style of politics, but he shares many of the same weaknesses that hurt her with progressives. Namely, that his very long career in Washington means that he's held positions in the past that would complicate efforts to reach out to the Democrat's leftward moving base.

Neither Bernie or Joe should run. Old people are the reason America is in this terrible situation.

Booker, I'm assuming? He'd have my vote.

I'm sorry, who gives a shit?

This election should have been a cakewalk. She lost to Donald Trump.

I don't want to fucking hear it.
You don't want to here what? That this was a super narrow loss? That policy was NOT what lost the election? That no one in their right mind would nominate Corey Booker (or any NJ politician for that matter?
