Y'all thought Hillary was too far to the right and now you want Biden? He is the definition of a centrist establishment politician. He also was the author of the crime bill you guys tore Hillary down for supporting.

It would be better for the party if he stayed out of the way. His chance was this election. He opted out.

We need a clown car and let the voters sort it out

One presidential loss??

State governerships? Senate? House?

Are we going to ignore the fact that the party got slaughtered by Trump and a dysfunctional Republican party? Looks like it.

If you really want introspection, attributing the Democrats' loss across the board to anti-establishment sentiment isn't helping because it isn't accurate. Obama neglected the 50 state strategy and the state of the party since 2012.

Bernie lost to Hillary, while Ted Cruz barely qualified as competition to Trump in the Republican primary, so anti-establishment candidates aren't the surefire win that you think they would be. Sure, it might be a good way to go, but the DNC going back to the 50 state strategy is more important.

I'm not saying that there are no lessons to be learned from this election but you do understand why paying attention to margins is an important part of figuring out what went wrong right?

Extremely.

If you want to talk about margins, she lost states that Obama won by more than 5 points in one election. Those are the margins that matter. I don't care about the total vote count and you shouldn't either.

Clearly, this party has a problem with messaging *and* the messengers. It's time to move on, I never want to hear from the Clintons again. They had their chance and her defeat was resounding and clear- Time to move on from the old guard.

Biden would have steamrolled in this election.

Unfortunately he would be getting up in age by then and I ultimately don't see it happening.

An ant-Hillary smear campaign combined with widespread voter suppression and a poorly run campaign by Clinton. That's the most concise explanation for what happened.

Or to sum it all up, Hilary was a terrible candidate.

Listen, I loved Hilary, I thought she would've made a great President, I loved her WAY more than Sanders but her loss can be placed squarely at her feet. Hilary is and always will be a terrible campaigner. She lost to Donald fucking Trump, any politician worth their salt should have been able to easily trounce him. She let this man explain away sexual assault at a national live debate, just stop.

Hilary is the sole reason for her loss, not the establishment, or Alt-right news, or Russia, or anything else. Shit happens during an election, a good candidate is able to adapt to these changing circumstances and push forward. Hilary was never able to adapt, up until the last debate we were still talking about her fucking emails. Trump managed to deflect his recorded bragging about sexual assault in less than a week and push forward with a new narrative. This being after the Khans, his purple heart comments, birtherism, general comments about women, Iraq war opposition lying, etc. Trump ALWAYS managed to change the narrative if he didn't like it. Hilary couldn't change her hair color without taking five months and a committee to decide the best option.

I'm thinking this is liberal "meme magic" at work.

Joe knows he is the hero of a popular meme, and that's the strength he needs to run.

Sell Pepe memes, buy Biden memes!

It would be deeply hilarious if 2020 democratic list is Biden, Clinton, and Sanders

Clinton ain't running again for any office. She's done.

Actual policy is of no concern to many on either side of the aisle, sadly.

I am all for him running in the primary, and if he makes it to the general, then I will vote for him, but I would like to see the other democratic candidates before revving up his coronation as YASSS KING.

Literally any damn person serving in office as a Dem is part of "THE ESTABLISHMENT".

This.

People crying about "teh establishment" are first time voters I'm sure of it.

Pretty much. You can tell policies mean fuck all to people. Gut feeling just like republican voters they look down upon.

On the flip side, and at the risk of going against my opinion already expressed in this thread: if gut feelings and Biden's stardom is what gets people on the left who don't give a shit about policy (and his political history) out to vote the same way their counterparts on the right do, so be it.

But the general response in this thread and by many liberals reacting to this news sort of makes all the complaining from the Left wrt/Clinton sound incredibly hollow in hindsight (especially in her relation to Sanders).

More proof that to most people policy doesn't actually matter.

Remember, these are the same people that pretended that Bernie and Hillarys policies were super far apart during the primaries.

So the Office of President for now on will just be who is charming enough and hope they can carry their party in?

Can we just forget about normal rules and conventions

Let's drop all the assumptions of who can and cannot win based on whatever random reasons we assert because clearly none of us have any clue what the fuck we are talking about
