What does this mean? Bigger focus on PSN services? More GaaS games? Fewer SP games? What does this mean for hardware?
IIRC, Andrew House picked the final design of the PS4. I would imagine he had a big hand in getting Cerny to design it, and then letting him add 8GB of GDDR5 which turned it from a mediocre PC to something that could produce incredible looking games without sacrificing texture quality.
He also likely greenlit the Pro which IMO was a fantastic decision. $399 was also probably his call in the end. But then so was PS+ requirement for online play. Probably not fair to blame him for Amy henning and Stig's departures but Evolution Studios was most likely his call too.
Overall I liked him because he did not want to chase the kinect casuals and focused on building n impressive array of exclusives. While MS was busy cancelling games left and right, he went and got Kojima and had Insomniac make Spiderman. While Phil was forcing Black Tusk to cancel their new IP in favor of another soulless gears of war game, he went through with TLG, Horizon, Bloodborne, Days Gone and for some reason didnt cancel Dreams after 6 and a half years.
Not sure if its ok to give him credit for all those things but as the head of Sony's game division, the buck stops with him so he gets all the credit or the blame. That's fair i suppose.
I just hope this new guy continues Sony's latest tradition of making powerful yet affordable GAMES FOCUSED consoles. they havent acquired any new studios this gen despite making billions in profits which is something i hope this new guy does something about.
