Is there even a confirmation for stardust crusaders? I couldn't help but feel worried after
not seeing a "to be continued" sign at the end...

People dismissing the OVA's outright don't know what they're missing. For all there changes they make to the material they're still extremely entertaining and very well made. The animation in the 90's OVA's is particularly god like.

The OVAs are awesome (especially the 90s)
But its lacking JoJo's quirk and funk.. And its feel they trying to make it edgy and such.

Part 3 does have horror atmosphere, but its like... "Scooby-doo" atmosphere and not like Hannibal Lecter atmosphere like in the OVA. You'd be surprised if David does remake it how much different it is aside production value, I can't see they top the last two episode of 90's OVA though ;_____;

I'll argue part 3 OVA were great action anime, but lacking as JoJo's anime.

If you haven't read the manga before, be aware they only chose some highlights to animate, but there's plenty more gold in the full part 3.
I could read the manga too and I'm probably also watching David Production's Part 3 JoJo anyway.

You'll be missing a lot, including parts that many people love.
Roadroller > oil tanker

+
Actual good animation
Still awesome anyways
You don't know what you're missing anyways
Aren't the parts that were cut mostly just MOTW antics and mostly misable? Shame about oil tanker/road roller, was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing animated.

Join me in backlog season. Thirteen weeks of actually animated Jojo! :D
I probably will but I'm probably gonna fall into temptation and marathon in instead.

Do it for Iso.
Sold.

So how's the show so far. I stopped after the mansion was burned down and the blonde guy "died" but he didn't. Should I pick it back up?

Either way, we live in a world where you can watch an OVA or read a manga or wait for a possible TV adaptation. Heck, you can do all three! There's nothing that says that you enjoying one version of the story excludes enjoying the others.

Haha, yeah, they you said it its does felt like mega luxury.

Later we can even pick various part from various adaptation that we like or dislike as the whole experience.

God.. I hope japan release the remaster BD-Box for the 90's OVA or hell the whole of it.

I willing to spend console price money for that.

Uhm... is OVA discussion (obv with spoiler tags) a good fit for this thread?

Well, on one hand, discussing it is spoilers for what they'll be adapting next, but on the other, some are pretty much two decades old by now so...

Also is that SNES ad just added by the subbers for shits and giggles?

It wasn't for shits and giggles, there was a link there for a translation patch of it that should be releasing any moment now.

The OVAs are brilliant, particularly the '90s ones. Top tier production values that make for some amazingly brutal fights. Don't skip just because they're not 1:1 with the source material.

I think it's important to note that it isn't just what's been cut out, but overall tone and how it doesn't really match what Araki set out to accomplish. It was fine back when people's only experience with the franchise was the PS1 game, but now that we have an adaptation that isn't only faithful in content but also presentation, it might feel "off" to some people. Sure, the animation is A LOT better, but the nagging suspicion that "this isn't JoJo" could appear at the back of your mind. Even with the switch from Ripple to Stands, it never lost what made it fun in the first place. The OVAs do.

Of course, I'd be lying if I wasn't a bit biased since they cut out one of my favorite fights in the franchise :(. Still, I think all of this is something people should keep in mind if they choose to watch the OVAs.

For sure, it'd say it shouldn't be about watching them or not, but about when to watch it (before or after reading the manga/watching the inevitable more faithful adaptation)

Seriously the
Dio's
fight in 90's OVA are fuck awesome.

The bit scenario change even improving what there in manga IMO

like : nothing too important
Polnareff not showing up, its make the showdown pure badass duel of Jotaro and Dio

And sorry guys #teamoiltank

Thing like D'arby fight though, while its great on old OVA. I'm confident David can take it to another level.

I hate to keep using the word but it's fabulous people, get on it.
the old OVA more badass than fabulous though.

So do you guys want to keep this thread going as a place to discuss the OVAs, or should that be limited to the community thread while we wait for David Production's part 3?

It's probably more fair to newcomers to discuss it in the community thread, even if the OVA is old.

The community thread is filled with spoilers from the later parts, though.

Btw, today the gf made some awesome stone mask cookies:

Thanks for the input, I'm planning on watching the OVAs soon and wanted to hear your thoughts on them as well as everyone else's for that matter.
