Judge orders new searches for Clinton Benghazi emails (Politico)

Nine months after the presidential election was decided, a federal judge is ordering the State Department to try again to find emails Hillary Clinton wrote about the Benghazi attack.

U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta ruled that the State Department had not done enough to try to track down messages Clinton may have sent about the assault on the U.S. diplomatic compound on Sept. 11, 2012 — an attack that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya.

However, the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch argued that the search wasn't good enough because State never tried to search its own systems for relevant messages in the official email accounts of Clinton's top aides.

In a 10-page ruling issued Tuesday, Mehta — an Obama appointee — agreed.

Trump trying to start a nuclear war with North Korea and we still have people worried about Hillary's emails. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

So it sounds like State did a search of emails it got from Hillary, emails it got from three of her aides, and emails it got from the FBI, but it didn't search its own email system. Obviously the murder of poor Benjamin Ghazi has been done to death but the judge is probably legally correct here. Also these are not the buttery emails on the private server.

The more interesting thing is that the Trump/Sessions DOJ argued against this.

This is the song that doesn't end
Yes, it goes on and on my friend
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that doesn't end...

Putting aside any partisan bias, is anything of even remotely scandalous implication concealed in Washington this well? It just doesn't happen. And it sure as hell doesn't happen after like 15 different investigations.

I suppose they're welcome to continue looking but what's the payoff given the very likely chance nothing of value is found? The general public has moved on from the matter and the people who do care would NEVER believe that nothing was found.

Just keep beating that dead horse. Consider this: emails are the worst controversy for Hillary Clinton in her entire career. Trump beats that on a weekly basis.

Can someone please explain to me why people are so obsessed with Clinton and these emails? From what I understand with Benghazi, Clinton's only involvement was not being clear as to whether the attack was because of that video.

State didn't conduct a proper FOIA inquiry. Instead, it essentially argued that anything that would've been on its state.gov servers would've been already disclosed or turned over in the FBI investigation.

This isn't news.

It's a routine matter for State's CIO.

The emails that are actually of significance and actually going to mean something are Trump Jr.'s.

Those are the ones that will be in the history books.

Republicans have tried so hard to create a scandal to attach to Hillary yet despite spending millions they've never come up with a lick of anything. You can't just will a scandal in to existance.

The ruling about the FOIA request is real.
In response to Freedom of Information Act requests, State searched the roughly 30,000 messages Clinton turned over to her former agency at its request in December 2014 after officials searching for Benghazi-related records realized she had used a personal email account during her four-year tenure as secretary.
However, the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch argued that the search wasn't good enough because State never tried to search its own systems for relevant messages in the official email accounts of Clinton's top aides.

In a 10-page ruling issued Tuesday, Mehta — an Obama appointee — agreed.
Anything beyond that is fake.

You can't be fucking serious.

When Mueller finds a shit ton of dirt on Trump, please let us not forget this and let us ridicule the ever-living shit out of these dead-horse beating mother fuckers.
