My 360 is on the way out, it keeps overheating. I can only play for about 45 minutes a time :/

Colonels don't count towards the completion percentage of an area right?

Hmm, I'm almost enjoying this but it seems to suffer from the same problem as Red Faction - the enemies end up getting in the way of the fun. I've been playing for a while and the enemies have 'levelled up' and now their numbers, accuracy and psychic knowledge of where you are at all times are really spoiling things for me. Unlike RF you can't lower the difficulty mid-game either.

That can be a pain in the ass, but unlike Red Faction it's not a serious problem for me since it's pretty easy to evade them with the hook and chute.

Despite what I said before, I am starting to find the enemies to be somewhat annoying on experienced. They've 'leveled up' as i've played through the game, and now i'm essentially skipping any area where i'll need to blow up a lot of stuff, because it becomes too time consuming. I'm killed or nearly killed everytime I need to stop to destroy something, and if i'm more careless with it and move/fly around while blowing things up, I just waste ammo and have to leave to call the black market dealer, wasting time anyway.

If i'm trying to destroy an area, I don't really want to have to fly away from heat, only to come back and have to fly away again after I blow up one more thing.

I haven't done too many missions so far but my favorite so far was the one were you have to climb the TV station skyscraper to blow up their shit. Throwing dudes off the side and jumping off the top while detonating it was amazing. It was really fun, I think any mission that involves climbing a skyscraper is gonna be good.

I'm pretty sure they do count.

Bought it on steam. Man, this game is like 007 meets Commando. So damn good.

The graphics are really, really good. Lots of colour, nice lighting and of course the draw distance. The music suits it perfectly too. I hated the first game but this is already just tons of fun and I've only just done the intro missions.

That would explain why i've been stuck at a high percentage on an area or two.

Which faction gives you that mission, and what is it called/?

The demo was fun but the full game is so much better. When you have the whole map to explore + all the missions and upgrades it's totally different.
It exceeded the expectations I had after playing the demo.

Damn game!

This one should have been the "God of War III Weekend".
Kratos is still waiting for me to try it on my PS3.

In the meantime I spent 23 hours (oh shit!) on this awesomeness on X360.
23 hours and 12% complete.

This game could least forever.

Anyway it is fantastic that Avalanche has a so big island and they used it in everyway.
Never felt this freedom before in a game.
Never.

yea the demo while decent, the full game is just SO much better. You can take your time and do anything! Same feeling i got from the crackdown demo and the full game being better in everyway (obviously)

I just did this one yesterday, I can't remember what it's called, but it's an Ular Boys mission. See where it says "West Tanah Raya"?

The mission shows up somewhere above the word Raya on the map. In that green area.

What level of difficulty would you all recommend? I picked the game up just now after watching a friend show me what its a bout on the PS3 version, game looks hot.

He had tons of trouble on the 2nd mission, the one where you escort this gambler across the freeway, carjacking rides and defending him along the freeway. From what I saw he could never hold off all the enemies as they would eventually kill him. I'm pretty sure he had it set to either experienced or hardcore difficulty. Then again once I got home I youtubed that stage and saw that you can flip cars with your grappling hook, maybe thats the trick to beating the stage then,my friend always kept trying to gun them all down, never knew that you could flip cars over. The game looks like like mad fun.

So yeah, please recommend me a proper difficulty setting,Gaf.

Yeah, running into this problem, too.

You really gotta take a hit and run approach to it. Swoop in, blow some shit up, then fly away to get the heat off.

I'm playing on Normal as i want to have fun and breathing room to experiment causing chaos and i think the higher difficulties won't allow me to do that easily until i've played more.

I'd say try Normal as Casual might be a bit too empty but i haven't tried that so couldn't say for sure. Anyone here tried Casual and are the higher difficulties no fun until you've got to grips with the game after a playing a few times on easier levels?

I'm pretty happy with Normal. I've died a decent amount of times, yet it's definitely nothing too difficult. "Juuuuuust right" as they say. :D

I wouldn't play Casual since not only would it probably be too easy, but then you don't even get a trophy/achievement for finishing the story. :p

This game is way to buggy :(
Now I can't get 100% in a location (Kampung Cicak Hitam 4447, 30319)

I've tried reloading an old save and then it worked, but I'll have to replay some hours...

I know I haven't missed anything either because it's a very small location and I've checked where all items / destructible things are.

Ok so I'll go for normal difficulty setting then. Thanks everyone.

Btw-has there been a patch out for this game yet for any of the console versions? I saw some some strange stuff going down last night, like an enemy bullet sponging a whole clip of gun fire directly to his face and nothing happened,oops.:/ This isn't too frequent I hope, just an occasional bug, right?

Need to go and move my 360 closer to my router and see if there is a patch out I guess.

No patches yet, and I don't think the game is that buggy, though it's hard for me to say because i'm 14 hours in and have yet to experience a single glitch. If you read around this thread and elsewhere you'll get a gist of what kind of issues you could run into, the biggest of which is probably where all NPCs and traffic disappear.

I've had a few problems like this, INCREDIBLY annoying. (may contain minor spoilers, but not storyline spoilers:)

On the mission for the Reapers where you have to destroy an off shore rig, the damage meter got stuck on 50% even though I had destroyed everything. My theory on why it happened, is because I was firing off the quad rockets and miniguns simultaneously with the G9 Eclipse before I'd even reached the rig. I think the rockets hit and destroyed most of the rig but it hadn't acknowledged it since I wasn't near it yet.

It makes me a bit cautious in destroying important looking bases and stuff, if later on down the line there's a mission involving destroying something I've already destroyed in Free Roam, I might never be able to complete it.

I've noticed at times hits don't register if you're too far away sometimes, usually moving a little closer fixes that. Haven't seen anything like that up close though.

On the first level and I'm doing my thing moving along pretty well when out of the blue I heard this....

"He is taking heeeavy demige"
:lol

Ok the tone in which its said in the game sounds exactly like a Arnold parody. Totally.
The first time I heard it I was on my ass laughing so hard. Seriously some of the voice overs in this game out worthy of ultimate cheese.

Fun game and the enemy dialogue voice overs continue to be laugh worthy. Throwing a guard off a building sounds like he's been eaten be a shark more than falling to his death also. Hilarious.

I'm two hours in on Normal and i'm thinking about restarting on Casual because im sick of the endless spawn of dudes that take my health down enough so i'm pretty much always flashing red. Had the same problem with Red Faction and I know its much easier to deal with here but it still takes away from the fun.

Anyone here playing on Casual?

How long is the day/night cycle in this game? Seems longer than some other games.

I might be crazy but it seems to me that it is very much influenced by where you are on the map. Like, if I'm taking down a big settlement it will stay night the entire time. But if I fly across the map in a jet it will go from day to night and back again very quickly.

hmmm we had a ps3 patch in europe on the friday it was launched (1.01)

No idea what it does though

I don't really have any objective observations on the day/night cycle but I will mention that if you fly to or near the mile high club, the game will transition to 3 AM, even if it has to go backwards in time to get there faster.

There's a few specific areas that change the time/weather.

The LOST island will change the weather to thunderstorms, but the time seems unaffected, although it seems like night because it's a heavy storm.

The Mile High Club will change the time to 3:00AM no matter what, I think someone said.

Then, there are missions that "lock" the time at a certain point. I just did a mission where I had to go to a laboratory and it was night time the whole mission - about 10-20 min. The clock showed 10PM the whole time.

I think when you're free roaming though, (aside from those specific locations) the day/night/weather are unaffected.

This is honestly one of the most fun games I have ever played. I'm playing on hardcore to get the platinum trophy so it can get a bit frustrating with swarms of perfectly accurate enemies (I was actually sniped out of a moving helicopter), but as long as you have an attack strategy, it's doable. My favorite strategy is to use the level 6 black market attack chopper to destroy every piece of government property in a few different settlements. Then I wait for the heat to cool down and collect the various resources settlement by settlement. That way the heat stays at a low level while you're actually in the town or military base.

Quick question, Where is the third faction located? I've done a bunch of Reaper and Ullar Boys faction missions, but haven't come across the third gang at all.

They should have an icon on their map that looks just like the other factions icons, only blue. Have you done their first base takeover mission, or whatever it's called? if not that may have a different icon and I don't remember what it looks like.

Thanks, I'll check. My map is so cluttered I probably just missed their icon. I haven't done their first base takeover mission yet, but I'm hoping the icon is there somewhere.

Just 100%'ed the mile high club. It was so cool running into that place randomly in a chopper, landing on the helipad, destroying shit and picking up the packages and then getting the fuck out of there on the plane. This game is so awesome.

If you look right at the center of the map, its going to be on the edge of the landmass to your right, the side closest to the center of the map.

You'd think a guy blowing up huge oil silos while ghost riding a frickin fighter plane would crack a smile every now and then...

Oh yeah, the puns are the worst. They should have gone with cheesy instead of lame.

The cutscenes (so far) are pretty awesome, though.
