WARNING!! *SPOILERS AHEAD*
What the hell? Talk about a weak ending. Does anybody else think that the whole thing was rushed? Even the 3-lightsabers fight was downright ridiculous. It's like the devs simply ran out of time and simply chucked the ending right in there and took the easy way out by getting Kreia to tell you what happened to your companions. Talk about weak.
And the random-loot system in the game is awfully lame. I never did find a single Jedi Master robe in the game. And if I had not reloaded repeatedly during several key moments in the game, I would have ended the game with only TWO goddamn normal lightsabers and about EIGHT double-bladed lightsabers. And items that are supposed to be unique like the Onasi Blaster or the Exar Kun Battle Suit would actually spawn more than once in the game. I had three Onasi Blaster by the end of the game. Such a system just kind of takes away the excitement of finding a new unique weapon.
The lack of an option to play the game over with all your equipment and stats from the previous game is also quite frustrating since the loot system is random. It would have been great to play the game multiple times and finally obtain every single item the game has to offer in one single save file.
I think the reason for the scarcity of the lightsabers in this game was due to the fact that the first KOTOR threw way too many lightsabers your way and this sort of diminished the "value" of the lightsaber. KOTOR2 actually made you earn your lightsaber. I'm not saying that this is a bad thing. However, it could have been done in a better way instead of assembling three components and then having a character in a party assemble them for you. I mean, a whole dungeon or some sort of ritual could have been created simply for obtaining the lightsaber and it would have given a much better sense of accomplishment.
Also, I'm wondering if the three-character party is gameplay or technical decision? If there was something KOTOR2 did right, it was that so many of the people in your party are interesting and great to have around. The option to turn your party members into Jedi is great as well. G0-T0 was interesting. Bao-Dur was cool considering that he's an unarmed fighter and has a backup remote that could heal droids. HK-47 is as interesting and funny as ever. And then there were all your other Jedi party members. The thing is that I WANT to be able to have a larger party so I can bring more people along with me. Throughout the entire game, I usually have a full Jedi party (especially after I turned Atton, Bao-Dur, Mira and Handmaiden). It can't be helped. The Jedi kicks too much ass and lightsabers are the coolest thing ever. But I really wished I could bring HK-47 and G0-T0 along for the ride. I'm just a major Jedi whore.
Anyway, I believe that the three-member party system is a technical decision. To be able to bring along more party members would mean that the game would need to throw more enemies at you at all times to keep things challenging. The game already had some framerate issues during certain massive battles so to allow for a five or six member party would probably kill the game framerate-wise.
