Agent Dormer

Dirty Drinking Smoker
So, I just saw Cinderella Man. Let me tell you, it was a great film. It's not like Wilco would lead you to believe, SEABISCUIT WITH BOXERS. It's much better than that. It's got moxie, kid. There's plenty of great build up that gets you really caring about Crowe's character, and then when the boxing action starts going at 100% it's golden. They've got the old time cameras with the bulbs going off all the time for a really cool effect - every now and then they'll sorta freeze frame for one. Anyway, make plans to see this movie. Crowe is fantastic (as always), Giamatti is fantastic as his manager, and Zellweger wasn't annoying!

Anyway, no good thread about a movie is finished without a link to the trailer:

Also, check out this hot boxing action:

AWESOME!! HE'S FIGHTING AROUND THE WORLD FOR FREEDOM!

Saw this with Agent Dormer. It's hot, that's for sure. I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as him. It seems to me that there is no tension until the end of the picture. It's sort of obvious that he'll make it to "the final fight." There is tons of tension as to whether or not he will win it though. The final fight is really amazing. Ron Howard does a pretty good job directing. Clint Howard has a cool cameo (of course). The kids were all excellent. Crowe was damn good, but Giamatti was AMAZING.

See it.

Yeah they had a sneak preview in my town too so I went tonight. Not bad at all. It has enough development in the right areas to make you care about what's happening and the buildup to the climax is pretty good. Not quite as good as Crash and not nearly as powerful as Million Dollar Baby, but still right up there in that same bracket.

And Giamatti wasn't "amazing". I mean he did a really good job but you guys make it sound like he carried the movie on his back. IMO, Crowe was the reason to watch, but together they really pulled it all together.

It occurred to me while watching previews of this movie that Rocky killed boxing. I've rarely, if ever, seen a real boxing match deliver the type of action in a Rocky movie.

Watch ESPN Classic. They can make ANY fight seem awesome. They made the Tyson/Douglas fight seem amazing. They had these experts on there that were like, "And you knew, when you saw Douglas get up after Mike laid his power punch on him, that Tyson wasn't going to win this match."

Especially when they go back to like the Ali/Foreman fights, and they'll interview Foreman and have him do some play by play. "Oh yeah, haha, he used the rope... and I was a dope!" Awesome shit.

Anyways, I'll definitely see this movie.

Yep, ESPN Classic is awesome to boxing. They helped me form my opinion that Rocky basically killed boxing.

And the Tyson/Douglas match was awesome in real time. I'll never forget watching that. The Tyson knockout gets better with each viewing.

just got back from seeing this movie, and HO-LY-SHIT. I didn't know anything about the Baer/Braddock fight going into the movie, so it made this movie incredibly awesome. I don't think it'd be as good on multiple viewings, but this definitely is the best film I've seen all year. Blows away anything else I've seen, though I haven't seen Crash yet so we'll wait to make my opinion permanent. But yeah... PHENOMENAL movie. This is one of those movies that actually had my adrenaline going near the end. Definitely recommend this movie for anyone else here.

I extremely enjoyed it. Great film. You really care for the characters and really understand the importance of every single event. Way better than Sea Biscuit.
