Just used body wash for the first time. Or, why doesn't the soap wash off?!

I've been using bar soap all my life. Irish Spring Classic or Lever 2000. It always left me "squeaky clean". It did leave soap and white residue on my skin after the shower though, and left my skin dry, so I would use lotion afterwards.

I've seen people use body wash all my life so I decided to give it a try. Holy crap, it feels like the soap doesn't wash off! My face gets pretty oily and greasy and combined with the "lotion" feeling of body wash, I never feel like Im getting cleaned. Just spreading the grease/oil around. Yuck.

I get out of the shower and I feel like Im toweling off soap. It feels disgusting.

Does anyone recommend body wash that leaves that same "squeaky clean" feeling that Irish Spring or Lever 2000 bar soaps leave? Also, tried using one of those lathering sponges, and it doesn't give me the same lather as bar soap. It likes a thin layer of lather. Anything that gets me a great lather?

You put body wash on your face?

Jesus.

I use a dove for men gel body wash and it washes off just fine.

Are you sure you didn't use sunblock or something by accident?

Putting body wash on your face is not a good idea.

Edit: get a facial cleanser. CeraVe is cheap and works.

Well my face is oily, and all of those makes it feel like Im spreading the oil instead of washing it off. Bar soap has alway left my skin squeaky clean (as in, no lotion feeling, and all the soap washed off), so I've always used that.

did you use one of these?

as it's best to use body wash buy applying some to one of those, and then working it so that you just have suds to rub across your body.

I did that. The lather is so thin. I feel like I have to reapply to get the suds I want. Bar soap's suds is all over. Im trying to find something similar.

Teach me your ways, sensei. I am but an ignorant fool to the art of hygiene.

Don't put body wash on your face.

Unless you're suffering from severe acne and using something for that, you should't really be putting anything on your face.

Here's how it goes:

1. Hair
2. Body
3. Pits
4. Penis/Balls
5. Ass

Shampoo for hair and body wash is fine for everything else. But no face!

I feel like you're associating the feeling of dried out skin with being clean. Most people prefer body washes and facial cleansers because they don't dry out their skin so much.

Also, you're doing something wrong. A small amount of body wash in a loofa/sponge/whatever is pictured above lathers forever in my experience. Takes forever to wash out at the end of the shower a lot of times.

Been using body wash for decades now...

I used to use that Dove stuff posted above but it tends to dry my skin out.

I've used this for awhile now...

I use Suave for men shampoo/conditioner, shower WATER only on my face scubbed with my hands and then a loofah with the Nivea for the rest of me. The more crap you put on your face, the worse you will break out. I have used water only once a day in the shower and my face has never felt better.

Try a foaming cleanser - not one of the lotion-y ones. Those work better for oily skin.

Does anyone else squirt a bunch of body wash gel on their finger and then stick it up their ass, while rotating?

It's the next evolution in cleaning yourself

Works great for me. And I leave the shower smelling like a pina colada, which I consider a bonus.

Never use any products on my face, just a washer. I guess my skin dries out too much or something if I use soaps.

For many people this doesn't matter. I don't do it because I get really dry skin and I have special skin stuff for my face... But if you're not using anything and you don't get dry skin, soap is fine.

Hell, you can even use soap as shampoo if you want to ... It's all soap. For most normal shampoo vs. body wash vs. bar soap vs. whatever, most of the ingredients are pretty much the same, with a few small differences that don't really matter.

I'm on the Dove Men train, never going back to bars.
Same here, love the stuff. Clean Comfort is my favorite scent, smell clean and fresh and its not overly powerful scent wise like old spice or those shitty axe ones. I think op is mixing up dried out skin with clean like theepicoftyler said. I've used irish spring and hated it for that very reason. I left me feeling dry and my skin tight.

It gets oily cause your face is out of whack. You're drying it out with body soap each day so it's over-producing oil to compensate.

I always use bodywash on my face. Unless, you are experiencing some kind of irritation or something like that, then just use soap like people have since it was invented. Don't waste your money buying something you don't need. Again, unless you are experiencing something that might require facial soap.

Anyways bodywash should get you clean just like barsoap. Try a different brand.

Those things are totes 👌👌👌

Also, I use body wash on my face on occasion but make sure to use facial moisturiser afterwards. I don't get that oily skin dry experience as a result. Although I swear no matter what I use there's no way to totally get rid of dry skin around my nose (just in general) - just gotta keep that moisturised I guess.

Ok I'm talking about being past oily skin/acne. That's why I said "Unless you have acne..."

Totally true, but my point is: unless you're an oily-skinned teenager, you don't need to wash your face with soap or anything else.

I get you, OP. For some reason when I use body gel, my skin doesn't feel right, so I stick to bar soap.

did you use some cheap body wash? I cannot use bar soap, that squeaky feeling gives me the same cringe that a hand to a balloon or grinding teeth after warm cola.

A nice body wash should leave you feeling nice and not oily, though some body wash dries my skin unless it is dove or dial for men.

Body wash left my skin dry until I started buying a kid's brand shampoo + conditioner + body wash brand with a suave dinosaur on it. That shit works wonders.

Use a face wash for your face.

Use a small bit the first time though. This stuff totally burned my face one time while on accutane. So if you take meds or are skin sensitive it might do stuff. Before that though this stuff is a good face wash. I use dove sensitive now though.

How the hell do you have soap or still feel soapy after a shower?

Are you having a shower under a single stream of water or something?

For reference, I use shampoo, conditioner, body wash and an exfoliating scrub in the shower.

You just need to use the water to get it off your skin.

If you're looking for a full body wash and a face wash there are some that do it all. I highly recommend the Jack Black All-over wash. It's really great and my gf who is a skin care freak recommends it as well

I used bar soap till I was 18, and now if I ever use bar soap I feel like it never comes off.

You are doing it wrong. You have to lather it up before you shove the finger up there.

You're not supposed to use the body wash directly on your skin...

You're supposed to use a loofah.

1. Pour the body wash onto the loofah.

2. Create a lather on the loofah by rubbing it around with your hands

3. Now the whole loofah has a soapy lather, use it on your body. Pressing hard with the loofah also exfoliates your skin.

why are you putting BODY wash on your FACE..

just squirt some on a sponge and scrub it on your body, then rinse it off.

is your water pressure really low or something?

when i use body wash i have to scrub myself twice- once with the body wash, and one time without in order to remove the residue. I really do prefer bar soap.
