Just Wait, Watergate didn’t become Watergate overnight, either. (NY Mag article)

This...is amazing

Yes, its a slow trickle. I get that. But there are two important things that wont change.

1. Democrats aren't taking back the senate any time soon.

2. Republicans won't impeach him, no matter what comes of the investigation.

Anyone who thinks he will be impeached is delusional. It's not the 70's anymore.

I don't really expect impeachment; I expect resignation (under some false pretense).

The logical side of me thinks that Trump wont resign because the presidency is the only thing likely stopping the Feds from immediately coming down on his ass for a bunch of crimes. The side of me that tries to think how Trump would think would likely resign because then Trump can say he was never impeached and can say he never lost the election.

Presuming the AHCA passes, the budget goes through, and Breitbart has a permanent seat at the press table, it won't matter if he's impeached or not.

I still maintain that the GOP is going to turn on Trump the moment they really start feeling the 2018 heat. I mean, we almost saw Georgia flip blue for the first time in almost 3 decades.
No, they won't, because turning on him would only lead to an even worse loss. Imagine the Georgia special election, only this time 50% of the R voters refuse to vote/vote third party to punish the establishment shill for impeaching their God Emperor (assuming they even make it to the general and don't lose in a primary). And that's assuming his base doesn't get violent, possibly at Trump's request. All bets are off and they have absolutely no base left to fall back on.

On the other hand, they stick with Trump. They lose bad with independents, and have to deal with an enthusiasm problem with Rs who don't like Trump, but at the end of the day they won't vote Democrat and 97% of R voters come home. It's still a bad election for them due to turnout and losing independents big, but they keep their base to mitigate losses. They keep the Senate no matter what, and possibly even hold a small majority in the house still, despite losing a lot of seats.

Does anyone seriously believe the GOP will vote for their own annihilation?! Trump's impeachment will only come about when the Dems take both houses......and even then I wonder if they really have the spine to go through with it.

I'm slowly coming around to the idea that Trump is going nowhere before 2020.

It can happen depending on who gets annihilated.
