I do agree that I find it far fetched he did it with intent. His father has stated point blank about Elon's spectrum troubles that he does not know what to do with his hands and feet.

What gives me pause on the latter bit - the least likely explanation- is that he, right now, supports far-right parties in Europe who follow Nazi ideology, and he likes and responds to actual neo nazis on twitter. And also his family were Nazi sympathizers and apartheid supporters. And he posted racist Nazi ideology to a point he was asked to travel to Germany to see the death camps to rehabilitate his image.
