K-on! Community |OT| Never Ending Talk About Never Ending Girl's Talk

Complete opposite of me, first thing I try to do is make friends in a class. If somebody sits next to me or I sit next to them, we usually end up becoming friends.

Ya

OH YEAH, I REMEMBERED SOMETHING
not
AWESOME FROM EARLIER TODAY.

I randomly checked out the KyoAniShop link for the artbook set because I wanted to show my supervisor at work who loves cute shit and now wants an Azusa nendoroid after I talked to her about wanting to get it a month or two ago, AND THE SET'S SOLD OUT!! Now I have no idea what's the status of my CDJapan Special Order Request. Hopefully it managed to skate right under and secure me a set, but my mind is leaning more towards the unlucky scenario that I was too late.

Though really it WOULD be best for me to not get it because my credit card would then be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Exactly, you understand!
I hate people like you!
just kidding, I love people like you, even if they bug me a lot. <3

I don't think this is "OMG BEST GAME OF ALL TIME" material like the internet makes it out to be but it's pretty good. I think I prefer Twilight Princess though.

Put in the context of the time it came out, it was most certainly something special.
Modern time: Completely serviceable, but not extraordinary.

I JUST checked my CDJapan order history, and the order was unceremoniously removed from my records so methinks it's safe to say that things didn't work out.

My favourite part of that scene is her muffled weeping

Much like Super Mario 64, OoT was completely revolutionary when it first came out. Today it's impact is dulled by the fact that it has spawned many sequels most of which do absolutely nothing new the way OoT did but have better graphics.

I'm not even sure what you're sad about now anymore...
That is largely it, though I'll confess to some irrationality in my collecting, such as getting the 360 and PS3 versions Bayonetta. But the more I think about it, there is usually something different between different releases that I buy that justifies the purchase. Handheld vs. console, for example, or exclusive content.

If it was originally a console game then gets ported to handheld system, I have an easier time justifying the purchase. Though I guess it's just the collector in me that wants it more than anything.
That said, I've never went out and bought the same game more than once on the same system, it's always rereleases where I end up buying them again.
Sometimes I find the console to handheld or vice versa annoying. I was thinking of maybe getting Metal Gear Peace Walker for PSP but was glad I didn't as it came out as part of the PS3 anniversary package for consoles. I don't have a 3DS but I just found out the Resident Evil game for that system is coming to Xbox and Playstation consoles. If I had bought it I might be upset. You're losing the 3D I guess but I'm not sure how much you would use it anyway.

It's like Muramasa for the Vita. I already have the game but then there are new characters or something. On the one hand I kind of want it but sometimes it also feels like some companies are just milking things for more money by adding just enough to make it seem worth it.
Funny enough though, the Master Quest Water Dungeon is easier than the original version. lol
In the 3DS port, Master Quest also flips the whole world like how the two versions of Twilight Princess are. Like West is East and vice versa.
I honestly never really understood why so many people seem to have such a hard time with the water temple. The only part I really got stuck on was
inside the center column area when you raise the water you might forget to check under the moving block later as it just looks like just a bunch of spikes at the bottom but there is actually a hallway connecting to a room.
Having to pause to often take the iron boots on and off I can agree is annoying but I never really found it that difficult.
Well, a lot of them aren't that good to be honest. lol
You can find them places, but I don't think I can talk about them here on GAF. If you're actually curious, you could always go over this in PMs or on IRC.

i wont go into detail because it probably straddles the line of nsfw, but there are plenty of great doujin sites and also, i find some doujins to be better than the work they're based off, lol :3
Okay, maybe if I get curious enough I'll bring it up in the IRC or something. I haven't really looked around due to knowing the general nature or content of many doujins and don't want to wind up at some less than reputable website.
you guys are gonna flip when i list how many copies of OoT i have.

1- original N64 version i got in 1998 (version 1.0 gray cart. way rarer than gold carts)
2- used gold cart in 2001. i found it cheap for $20 in EBgames (i imported stuff even back then)
3- OoT/MQ wind Waker bonus disc (free since i pre-ordered TWW)
4- Zelda Collector's Edition GC disc (free again because i had the correct games for registration)
5- VC version
6- OoT3D
7- OoT3D (got another cart for extra save files)
8- OoT jp version 1.1 (i wanted this because it is faster for speed runs)
9- OoT jp version 1.1 (i got this because i thought the first one was lost but it arrived later)
10- OoT3D digital download (i got tired of switching the carts and wanted to see if Nintendo edited this version. no edits so far)
Wow, all I have is the gold original. I might have got the GC disk but I didn't pre-order Wind Waker or whatever it was you had to do to get it again.
Hyouka is number 1 ... really? Jojo's and GuP I can understand being so high up, but Hyouka...? Why? I just don't understand the appeal. With Jojo's and GuP I can understand the appeal because Jojo's is pure action and GuP is "moe," but I don't see what Hyouka has going for it in any way.
Girls und Panzer is more than just "moe" though. The show has really good and suitable music and is light and classy on the fan service for the most part, like K-On. For having such a large cast the show does a pretty decent job of giving a lot of them a fair share of screen time and giving them their own unique looks and personalities. The show looks good and the battles are actually pretty exciting and interesting. The staff really comes across that they're interested in and knowledgeable about the material while still giving it that lighthearted and fun feeling.

Out of what I've seen of it so far, it's ok, but not anime of the year caliber. Even visually I don't think it's as great as many have made it out to be. The background art is nice I guess.
Only 2 of the shows I voted for made it in the top 10 anyways.
K-ON! Movie and Girls und Panzer

Really? The background art is Ok, I guess?! Hyouka looks amazing! It's probably the best looking show KyoAni has done up to this point. I love K-On as well but Hyouka clearly looks better visually.

I definitely know how that is.

I was just trying to simplify it and pick out one of the things in the show that might appeal to people. I know there's more to it, I've been watching it with Chet and Gravijah. That was more to dump on Hyouka than anything.

What happened to you Uraizen? You used to be cool...

I was never cool nor have I ever claimed to be! Even if I were cool, that would not change the fact I did not enjoy Hyouka. Maybe I exaggerated my dislike for Hyouka, but that's because I wanted Jojo's or One Piece to win!
Or the K-On! Movie, I swear.

I still sometimes screw up on that part now and again. It's such an easy thing to pass on.
And it's not so much that the original Water Temple is really hard, it's that they made the Master Quest version really easy.
Okay, maybe if I get curious enough I'll bring it up in the IRC or something. I haven't really looked around due to knowing the general nature or content of many doujins and don't want to wind up at some less than reputable website.

Have you ever read the K-ON! Anthology Comics? They're basically officially licensed group of K-ON! doujins mangas by various artists. Some of them are really good.

Uraizen has actually watched GuP. I actually got him to watch it, and I'm pretty sure he likes it.
I guess you probably noticed a while ago but my tastes are more in line with those who are considered part of the monocle crowd.
Oh there's nothing wrong with it, just some of them seem to come off as holier than thou when it comes to anime, which is just weird.
Really? The background art is Ok, I guess?! Hyouka looks amazing! It's probably the best looking show KyoAni has done up to this point. I love K-On as well but Hyouka clearly looks better visually.
Oh, I guess that came off wrong. The backgrounds are the best thing about Hyouka's art. It's the character animation I've not been too wowed by yet. Though most of it has been them sitting around a table for the most part.
I also want to say that I wish the show had more color in it. It's colors sometimes make the scenes come off as more boring than they ought to be.
So you're one that acts opposite on the internet than in person? You seem pretty friendly and outgoing here at NeoGaf.
Yeah, I've said it quite a few times that I'm very close to Mio personality wise, which is probably one of the main reasons why I love her the most.
I also can't stand scary stories and such, but I don't quite have the reaction to them like Mio does. lol
Here, I get to be more relaxed and hang loose, like being in the light music club.

Ok, I guess we're just going to have to disagree on that show. Have you started watching Tamako Market?

Being able to play Star Fox 64 on the bus is pretty great though. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this.

I can still see the appeal sometimes or to some people. If it's only on portable I don't mind and I can still love the game, I just prefer console versions with a bigger screen and possibly better controls. I also just personally don't like potentially having to buy a game all over again just for a few minor additions.

None of it is pornographic, but it can stray into lewd territory. Though no more lewd than the K-ON! manga is. It's also still ongoing, so there's still new ones to be read.

Tamako Market? Hmm... it started out boring, but I'm slowly warming up to it more each episode. I'm not fond of Tamako herself, but I like everybody else in the show so far. To be honest, that stupid bird is the reason I keep watching, just to see what dumb thing he does/says next. I'm starting to like the show for more than just that, though.

Some episode 2 impressions while they're still fresh.

I loved Ritsu's reasoning for why she plays drums. Not just to look cool, but such smaaaaall fingers. xD and the flashback of Ritsu threatening the salesman to get the price down on her drum. haha.

Also lol @ Yui imagining the guy with four arms when she saw the Guitar with two necks. =D

You sound too awesome for words.

I'd not sure which gal I like best yet, Ritsu's currently in the lead. Mio is just so purdy though.

Nothing wrong with loving both, they go great as a pair.

Some episode 3 thoughts:

Pretty funny episode, Yui and Ritsu shined a lot.

Love the little messages they sent Yui. Do your best! Plenty of sweets for you if you pass! Then the funny video of Ritsu wiping out.

I love how Ritsu kept getting popped in the head for interuptting studying time xD The best was the bump on top of the bump on her head. Also liked when the bumps sucked themselves down. lol.

Question, I didn't quite understand the reference when Yui fell asleep. Calling her Private Ricchan, and Ritsu was in a separate Igloo cooking and there was a Snowman named Yui? Maybe a reference to something else?

Very enjoyable episode though, Episode 4 impressions next time. :D

Eh, most protagonists are rendered boring by default. Though I do like Tamako, she is surrounded a pretty eclectic and crazy ensemble. Kanna!

It has the bonus of being strong on all fronts too, what with the visuals looking great, and probably amongst the most colourful and varied KyoAni have done. Hyouka looks spectacular, but it was a clearly a more muted show. And that music...

There is nothing wrong with asserting your own taste, definitely not. I think the complaint comes with how some can then impose their opinions upon others. Though I'm not going to lie and say that everything is equal, though there is something to be said against those who aimlessly tear-down whatever they don't like.

Not that I've encountered much of it myself, and if we're referring to the Anime thread specifically, I find that the level of discourse in there is typically balanced quite well. Probably a little too much talking about Idolmaster, though!
If only because I feel left out.

And you want some Irisu fan-art? Sure.

I do share your opinion on taste assertion. I recognize that my tastes can be wildly different from others, but if anything I prefer to use that as jumping point for discussion than anything. I don't think it's a reference to anything specifically. It's just a dream of Yui's where they're all stuck in a cabin during a big blizzard and Ritsu gets cabin fever and goes nuts and builds an igloo outside and makes her own Yui.
