But the sketch that was posted does look like something whipped up by a highschool kid in his lunchbreak.
 
Honestly this is probably the first game that is probably pretty damn good but I'll never play because the art is so terrible that it makes me angry

Huh? Its RareWare you dont play their games for the ''art''. Besides the style and art doesnt look any better or worse then we are used too.

No you play Rareware games for the gameplay, not talking about this gen games but Goldeneye, Pd64, Jfg, Ki etc...are pure GAMEPLAY games their art was pretty basic.

Why? I can't draw for shit.

That doesn't mean I can't spot good art like in Fable, Baldur's Gate, Heroes of M&M, Ultima, Myst and dozens of other games and shit art like in here.

When you'll take your blinders off you'll admit this doesn't even look professional.

I'm not going to try to defend that statement really, as it's clearly just a personal preference. I look at Kameo screenshots and the first thing that pops into my head is: "That looks stupid."

I'm not some casual, only plays realistic WW2 games, sort of gamer. I play lots of silly games with weird looking characters, but aesthetically, this game just doesn't interest me at all, and I don't think the gameplay will be able to make up for it.
 
To be fair, Kameo looks much better in 3d than the 2d artworks. Which is about the exact opposite of what happened with Sudeki. And I'm glad it's like this :D

I agree with this... too bad the art still looks pretty bad in 3D. And this is after playing the demo.

The lighting was excellent though. Probably the best technical aspect of the graphical engine just by my eyes. But the art style... *narf*

it's a sketch not a finished painting.

jeez all you stick figure drawing know it alls just got that magic eye don't ya?

Try living breathing and creating art for a living for 10-20 years to feed yourself and your family as well as to satisfy that artist longing to create then come back here and talk about how a sketch looks like some high school kid drew it.

jeez Gaf never ceases to amaze me.

Well that first sketch is certainly ok-ish for me, but the Elf Soldier posted a few replies later is really bad. The proportions are just wrong (IMHO, I'm not an art critic).

To be honest it looks like a drawing to show the armour design more than the character itself, but I agree that the proportions and perspective are out of whack.

Well, the Elf Soldiers are also very ugly in the game too, so...
 
I thought this looked like shit when it was on the Gamecube, and the turd's only gotten bigger and stinkier on the X360.
 
Some of the developer commentary vids intrigued me, but after trying this at a kiosk, my interest nosedived. Control and framerate were extremely spotty(it was even lagging during the opening cutscene!). I actually felt like a total fool singing it's praises to a few friends of mine before we all tested it out.

Pretty game though.

Haha, yes it's true that the cutscenes in Kameo have problems. I'd go as far as to say that they look worse than the game most of the time, since they are remains from the Xbox version.

Oh, but I understand what the guy means about the art being so bad that it renders the "technologically impressive" graphics useless. The art really is hideous. Look at those concept sketches, then re-imagine them in 3D as renders for some new Bratz playset.

Well, at least the gameplay will save this one!

That's kinda funny considering a Kameo animated feature is supposedly in the works.

Some of the concept art looks like the type of art you'd expect to see in a Ralph Bakshi cartoon.

i did not see the latter two sketches but the 1st was probably busted out in 5-10 minutes i would assume by the style of it. Not a bad sketch at all.

The other two are sorta goofy looking but i assume they too were quick and had a purpose of color study more then anything else.
