Kameo Renders & Concept art

I guess I'm just not seeing the art advantage Nintendo has over Rare and no, going from 8-bit to 32-bit is not a character refinement. The character has the same basic design just espressed with higher tech.

anyways, kameo looked better on the back of the GC box =(

Got any images of the GC version of Kameo. I hear she looked sexier, and they had to tone it down a bit (oddly enough).

Damn, I really can't understand the hate for the art. Funnily enough, I hardly hear people complain about Zelda: WW's style. In my opinion Kameo definitely looks better than WW's deformed designs anyway.

Personally my favorite character would be Rubble :

I know it's just a pile of rocks, but there is something about this grin that just makes me laugh when I see it.
:lol

I don't believe you'll be saying this if Rare's still Nitendo's 2nd party

And I am gald they are not, if these shots were released a few years back when Rare's still with Nintendo, dude all hell would break lose about how nintendo's holding Rare back, and how nintendo's forcing rare to do kiddy art.

and comparing bowser to that generic dragon dude's like .... saying you don't think Master Chief looks any better than the wallguy.

Are you the guy who also hates Ubi Soft and all of their games?

I'm an American, I have that right. :D

But seriously, Twilight Princess is some US Grade A ugliness. I much prefer the look of Wind Waker if this is Nintendo's take on "realism."

Bowser looks terrible, really, really bad. The previous poster is right, if Mario was released for the first time this year, everyone would be saying how shit the Bowser design is. The red dragon isn't exactly fantastic either, but at least its colours don't clash.

The blue knight looks like shit, Bowser looks like shit, Master Chief looks like shit. The other Kameo designs are average, typical designs for a kids game, as someone else was saying. And whichever fool posted a Metal Gear Solid sketch in the thread, I mean really, that's just blatant stupidity. :lol

I think what is getting many people about Kameo's concept art and stuff is that in terms of mechanical technique, it looks like dead average Internet fan art. I have to admit though, I remember seeing concept art from back when Rare was developing stuff like Dinosaur Planet (before it was SFA), and it was quality, professional looking work even in the rough sketches. While many people may not like the style of something like Wind Waker's art, *within that style* is is perfectly professional and highly skilled work.

Also, while I don't want to sound like the now stereotypical "bad art police", my honest opinion is simply that Rare's art direction is in the toilet with both Kameo and PDZ, in direct comparison to most all of their previous games... except perhaps, for Jet Force Gemini, which is what the Kameo look most vaguely resembles to me.

I mean, WTF? Come on really, did half of Rare just leave the company sometime over the last 5 years or something?

How is the "art" in perfect dark worse than the "art" in perfect dark zero. I never played the orignal.

PD looked extremely realistic. The style was extremely clean and refined.
PD0's sci-fi settiing has an amuterish comic-style

imo

your opinion doesn't count since you don't like PD0's style, and you must be biased.

I'm not even sure that the elf warrior or whatever isn't some fake sketch publicized to smear Rare

Personally, I think they just put that stuff in their official marketing materials and community website in order to make you look like an ass. Seems like a lot of work, but what other explaination could there be?

Regardless of the art, what I saw at the kiosk for this game didn't impress me all that much.

It looked like Xbox 1.5 to me. :-(

I want games that truly take advantage of this hardware to its full potential.
