Finally. At the eleventh hour I got
Amatsukaze from map E-1. She took four days, a few hours of playtime and I don't even know how many attempts to finally get.
I guess it's to balance out the fact I got
Ooyodo as my first drop for the event. My very next run I S-ranked E-1 and I got
Urakaze. I knew she was a rarer DD to get and was pleased but it wasn't until looking at a couple forums that I saw that she was really sought after by people. Next couple of runs weren't really that special but I got another
Haruna for completing E-1.
Right after getting Amatsukaze I went back to E-3 to try and get some of the submarine girls. Only three goes or so in I had a really good run and audibly thought "That deserves something good". I ended up with the new DD
Takanami. I had actually completely forgotten about her, haha. I was playing right up until just a couple minutes before maintenance and my last drop was finally an SS but I got I-168 who is one of the two who I have aside from a couple of I-8,haha.
I wasn't really sure how far I'd get since people were saying it would probably be difficult enough just to get to E-4 even on Easy when commenting on others peoples fleets who looked comparable to mine. Thankfully I was able to complete the entire event on the Easy difficulty. Hard would have been too difficult with its fleet locking since I had to level up about three girls just to even make one combined fleet, haha.
Thank goodness I was able to craft three AP shells and two Type-3 shells, or sanshiki, during the event to help with things like the level E-4 boss. When a girl got a critical hit on both shots she could do about 380 damage!
I think E-5 might have been the most difficult for me since I didn't really have the ships that were found to guarantee you a path to the boss. They were either really low level or I only acquired them in the event itself. Like getting
Kumano for example. I used the Fubuki and Sendai combo then.
E-6 was annoying because of the flagship girl in the node right before the boss. The one run I actually had perfect health on everybody but then just one of her shots sent one of my ships to the read and that was it.
Multiple times having a really good run and then the Random Number Garbage suddenly having me miss or just do scratch damage at the end so that the boss survived with just 20 hp or less was really annoying. It really makes me wonder if I might have actually gotten
U-511 or
Roma if it weren't for that.
Honestly the difficulty was all over the place. Things would be the same with no T-Cross and my morale being the same but one run the boss of E-4 for example would just one shot three of my BB into the read. They wouldn't have a turn during the night battle phase and such then making it more difficult to get an S-Rank. The next run she would miss, do minor damage and then miss again making that go so much easier to S-Rank.
I much preferred the map setup in different ways during the event. Getting a choice of which way to go and having enough LOS guaranteeing you access to the boss node for example. I wish more of the regular maps had that. I was stuck on map 1-3 for an entire weekend because whenever I got to the last node before the boss node it would send me to the other node you could go to instead. The next day after I finally got there and S-ranked it, I got to the boss node four times.
As far as other notable ships I acquired during the event I got:
DD -
Yuugumo,
Kiyoshimo,
Tokitsukaze
BB -
Mutsu.
I already had all of them but I got
Kongou,
Hiei x2,
Haruna x3 and
Kirishima x4.
CV -
Shoukaku
While farming seemingly endlessly on E-1 I got the DD's
Hamakaze,
Tanikaze x2 and another
Urakaze.
As well as two of the CVL
Zuihou.
Overall it was interesting but left a bit frustrated regarding E-6 and the amount of time it took to get Amatsukaze.
