Kanye West Splits From Jay Z's Tidal (Tidal To Sue Kanye For Breach Of Contract)

What timeline is this where Yeezus is classic? 808, not for me but sure I get it however, calling it a classic? Like 5 Mics classic? ( Yeah I know but as reference )

Life of Pablo would be a god danmed drink coaster if it was ever pressed to disc.

I'm not saying this to rile up the fans but being as objective as a hip hop fan can be, no way.
I love vintage Kanye but Pablo and the other recent shit he's done is garbage tier.

The only validation I need is from Jays biggest fan of GAF!!!!

Nah but fr tho. Lol. Somewhat trolling but I personally enjoyed his trilogy, 808s and MBDTF more than the same 3 classics people say Jay have.
People forget that I love Kanye/his music as much as Jay's.

I agree. MBDTF was pretty god damn great I thought. I really enjoyed 808s oh well, and even if it wasn't a classic, you can't deny that it influenced the whole hip hop industry.

How did 808s influence hip hop?

MBDTF is a classic and the last great thing Wr. West has put out. 808 felt like he was happy that 3000 made The Love Below (the most influential rap album of the last 2 decades) and artist in the genre could move in bold new ways. I spoke on TLOP already and Yeezus...I did not understand Yeezus at all. I felt like the genre had past me by. I kept making that face that people make when they try to read fast food menus without their glasses.

MBDTF is a classic and the last good thing Kanye has done. Yeezus equally as trash as Pablo.

I am not an island? Lets build a fort!

Yeezus is like laser focused in terms of cohesion compared to the sprawl of MBDTF tho.

Yeezus is like Yamcha!

Good for Kanye. Beyonce and Kanye are the only reason why Tidal even still exists. Jay should be less of an asshole.

jay put yeezy on & tolerated a great deal of his fuckery post WTT

and id prolly have bailed on that wedding too so ionno

You mean Dame? Remember, Jay wasn't feeling Ye and didn't want to sign him, in any capacity. Dame ignored Jay and signed Ye anyway saying if he flops he can be Roc's producer at the very least. Despite that, when Jay and Dame broke up Ye went with Jay.

Biggs (the third founder) was the one who put his weight behind Kanye, even Dame says so.
Also Jay put Kanye on by virtue of using his production, giving him a feature spot on TBP2, and by creating The Roc which Kanye carried on the legacy of to boths benefits.

Ehh, I don't really see it that way. Yeezus is mostly great until the halfway mark. Then it takes a shit. If Blood On The Leaves wasn't in the second half of the album, I'd never listen beyond the first half. Songs like Guilt Trip and Bound 2 are absolute turds in comparison with the first half gems like On Sight or I Am A God.

TCD / LR
MBDTF
GRAD
808
YEEZUS
TLOP

Petty much this but I keep College Dropout, Late Registration, and that glorious MBDTF (Album get's me going somedays! Great Energy!) in rotation still with Grad, 808, Yeezus/ TLOP much less.

So:

TCD - Mayonnaise colored benz, we push miracle whips!
LR - We Major!
MBDTF - This album is a sonic journey imo
GRAD - Champion is sucha fun song!
808 /YEEZUS /TLOP - These albums flow in and out of contention depending on how I'm feeling lol!

You all already know the real ranking

1. Late Registration
2. (tie) College Dropout/Graduation
3. MBDTF
4. 808's
5. Yeezus
6. TLoP

Anyone saying otherwise is a liar! Don't believe their lies

Well, ok, but you said cohesion. As far as production and cohesive flow goes, outside of bound 2, the album definitely is better at those than MBDTF.

I think MBDTF is a better record too, it's just a sprawl that would benefit from some editing. Album has some dreadful guest spots (JAY being the worst) and interludes and outros that hurt it after multiple plays.

Late Registration #1....I see you.

Drive Slow homie lol!

My homie Marley used to stay, 79th and May
One of my best friends from back in the day
Down the street from Calumet, a school full of stones
He nicknamed me K-Rock so they'd leave me alone
Bulls jacket with his hat broke way off
And walked around the mall with his radio face off
Plus he had the spinner from his Daytons in his hand
Keys in his hand, reason again to let you know he's the man

They should have a rap battle against one another as the undercard of the Mayweather Vs McGregor fight.

I don't particularly like either guy, buy Jay is definitely the better rapper of the two.

I'd set the odds at like -1500 for Jay on that one.

I actually think Paul Wall had the best verse, I get flak for that sometimes, but his style perfectly suited that beat. LR is the perfect combo of lyrical Kanye and excellent production. MBDTF is the closet body of work that resembles that while Graduation is a collection of Kanye's best beats imo

Late Registration
808s
MBDTF
TLOP
College Dropout
Yeezus
Graduation (Drunk amd Hot girls...blech)

And none of these are bad albums

Drake, J Cole, Gambino, just a few names who's style or in Gambino's case, past style, was HEAVILY influenced by the sound of 808s and the themes
If you say so. J. Cole has always been rapping like he was on some backpacker, women respect yourself, stuff. The warm-up came out like 7 months after 808s so I doubt it had any big influence on that or anything thereafter. Drake had a pretty established style in mixtapes before 808 came out. I don't follow Gambino outside of select songs. Haven't listened to an entire album beginning to end so maybe you're right on that account but I doubt it.

I don't know man, WTT and Run This Town Kanye stole the show. I'd say in terms of lyrical ability they're neck-in-neck

Probably true overall. I just like Ye's cadence on those first few bars. Paul Wall mercs the song though I think his drawl just rode the beat so well.

For comparison sake

Now if I fuck this model
And she just bleached her asshole
And I get bleach on my T-shirt
I'ma feel like an asshole

Yeah the pen game went from Cross to BIC. I might usually play TLOP before I leave the house for a night out to turn up. Typically with intentions of meeting a model with a bleached asshole.

Yeah. This is such a sensitive topic on TLOP lyrically is did not show growth like his first few albums you could see the grown in tandem with production. On TLOP the beats would throw up an oop' but the lyrics would often miss the dunk. Just my opinion.

He literally said 808s inspired him but okay lol

Drake's popularity came after 808s for a reason

Jermaine's popularity the same

Shit, you aren't lying. Idk, I hated Yeezus but listening to TLoP made me like it more. Damn Kanye, just release Good Ass Job and call it a day. I really like the theme he had going back then because it was pertinent to my life but the man has lost his mind. His antics and behavior towards people who respect him made me dislike him and his music.

Just to add Drake's style on Room for Improvement and Comeback Season are far removed from what he's on now. I loved Comeback Season and you can see the backpack, semi-conscious rap trappings but he's no longer like that. If we're talking about singing and shit in your songs then yes, I definitely agree that 808's heavily inspired who he is including and post So Far Gone.
