Keeping your PS5 vertical might cause some issues, as reported by some users, with specific faults. Sometimes.

Mines vertical, and its advertised that way. looks like it was designed to be that way too...but I dunno. Day one and no isses but its not like ive super binged on it. Now im thinking I should maybe lay it down...but I have no where for it to go so....hey ho.

Good thing I've been a horizontal boy since launch day.
It's liquid, it doesn't matter if it's vertical or horizontal. Gravity will still cause it to leak out of the broken part of the seal when hot, and conduct on the mobo.

People either broke the seal messing with it themselves, dropped the 2 they discovered out of 30+ million consoles out there, or a super rare manufacturing defect.

Tried mine vertically. Was fine, but made everything in the room look small in comparison

It was like a behemoth, that dominated the room 😂

Horizontal fits in better with my setup anyways 👍😎

Wait.....what? We aren't supposed to pop out the APU and spin it like a top?

Who wants to buy a PS5?

I don't usually judge people by their looks but this guy doesn't look believable to me.

If this would be a widespread issue we all should already know about this problem.

He looks like the dude in arcades back in the day that would do a move in a fighting game, and when you asked how he did it, he wouldnt tell you

Chances of this happening are probably just barely under Sony buying out Nintendo yet we'll see god knows how many people changing their set ups because of it.

fuck you gravity. i doubt this is anything to worry about. seems like it's only affecting a few people. this is just clickbait to make people panic for no real reason.

sony need to hurry up and release a PS5 Slim that ain't fucking huge and doesn't look silly as hell especially when horizontal. every console i've had i've sat it horizontal except series x. if i had a PS5 i'd be sitting that vertically. it looks stupid with those curves when lying horizontally. it still looks stupid standing vertical but not as bad.

Thank God I never used my PS5 vertical. Always horizontal. For the record, this thing claims all existing PS5 models are affected, so to be safe I would only use my PS5 horizontal from here on out. Doesn't mean every PS5 owner has had this problem, but what they're saying is that every model, if something should ever happen to the seal keeping in the liquid metal, is at risk of something bad happening. But if it's horizontal the risk drops significantly or is gone entirely.

I don't even use the stand. I also jump a 100ft gap on a dirtbike while on fire after I brush my teeth every morning.

Translation: Every console that has a defect is defective.

I think we can make some money together. How many times have you accomplished this feat?

Let's see, 365 times a year since I was 6 years old would be over 12,000 successful jumps.

If you're serious about getting something going on the side though we should talk about alligator wrestling in a straight jacket, which comes before I brush my teeth.

Excellent. You sound like a pro then, so I can just forget about that million dollar liability insurance I was going to get. Looks like it really won't be necessary with your type of experience.

But they're saying that you COULD be at risk should something go wrong or that seal weakn in some fashion. I would go horizontal to protect that PS5. They say that all existing PS5 models are affected.
That's the thing, COULD. Based on some French dude. The first pic doesn't even look legit, since when does metal turn into treacle.
There will always be failures in products and nothing will change that, doesn't matter if it's a PS5, Series X, Nintendo Switch, your TV, your phone.

With the 360 red ring you could do nothing. You were either lucky or you weren't. In this case this seems like a pretty straightforward way to protect one self, horizontal. I know I'm not risking my PS5. So I guess people can choose to do what they feel is best.
