Push Square "Death Stranding 2 Is Causing Some PS5s to Overheat"

My man ArtHands ArtHands catching strays for just reporting what the PS centric website "Push Square" is posting.

His reputation is known at this point. A troll who gets happy posting negative playstation news even if the source is pure crap and the story is nonsense. So cut the innocent act.

Euyden Chronicles was doing this on Xbox. If true, probably a glitch that needs to be patched.

If you're on PS, you should want this corrected. Instead everyone shits on the OP. Of course.

I've had quite a few long sessions on mine and haven't had a single issue.
Never cleaned it either... base PS5 from early 2021.

Have like 20? hours in the game on base ps5 and never received a heat warning evne in a 8 hour nonstop session, but I also dont spend 10? minutes on the map? wtf are these people even doing so long on the map screen? just open it to check your destination and thats it, even planing your route thoguh pointless since you can just build roads and railtracks, is spent like a minute max. I swear some ppl really can't play games, but then again considering I keep seing bridges built in empty fields, ladders in the middle of the road and a million requests for weapon or tool aids as if it wasnt easy enough to craft a ton of them, i'm not surprised some ppl spend an eternity looking at the map.

Poor OP getting a lot of overheat just for sharing some news lol.

They probably forgot to limit the framerate while on the map sreen and the console goes ham. Sounds like it should be easy to fix.

Realistically, that might be most people's "pause screen."

Push the start button, which defaults to the map screen, whenever they need a quick break for the restroom, attending the door, responding to someone talking to them, attending to the baby, etc. etc. If those breaks become longer than intended, and if the frames are bugged on the map, it could potentially cause the issue.

I'm surprised it hasn't made the disc eject at high speed, decapitating someone's grandma!
Freedom Gate was right all along!!

Important for people to please dust out their PS5's! It can sneak up on you if you aren't thinking about it.

So, I've used my launch PS5 today to test this crappy nonsense.
Leaved my game on a map screen for 30 minutes. Nothing, the fan was dead-silent (NIDEC).

That being said, I'm blowing dust out of my PS5 with a portable air blower every 2 weeks and my console is standing vertically near my TV with a lot of room to breathe. But it's a launch model that is mercilessly used by my son ever since I've bought a Pro.

You're right, I forgot the pause screen is in fact the map. My bad.

The OP's recent history post...i don't know...maybe there's some agenda and obsession going on?

The funny thing with Arthands was that he thought he was being subtle.

My guy was either one of those always enraged dudes that has to shit on things he doesn't like, or, just a plain ol' troll baiting for replies and engagement.

I did notice that playing the game caused my PS5 Pro to make more of an audible noise than usual. That being said, we're having a heatwave in the UK and it was around 30°C in the house, so I'm not surprised. I moved the console out of the unit it usually sits in and it seemed to sound less loud.

You call 30°C a heatwave? It's currently 42°C here. People go picnicking at 30°C here.

Looks like my guy Arthands flew a bit too close to the sun and ended up overheating himself. 😅

*laughs in 40°C*

Edit: No wait, that's not funny.
Oh come on, you must know us Brits do nothing but complain about the weather, everything is so close together so it feels way warmer by default. We also don't have AC here, just a bloody desk fan 🤣

Anything over 30°C can fuck off in my opinion, way too hot to do anything, I've no idea how people cope in 40°C.

When I went to London it was ridiculously cold and I was freezing yet I saw a guy wearing shorts. I guess it's the same way our bodies get used to temperatures over 40°C here.

Ace Combat 7 caused my Jet Engine edition PS4 Pro to shut down in the very last explosion of the last DLC mission. I only finished it on the PS5.

Could be true if the console is not clean and being kept in a closed environment with poor or no air flow. Having unlocked frame rates on menu screen is stupid and it could cause a crash due to overheating

That said, it is still unlikely. Modern systems usually throttle power before temps exceed a certain amount. And even after all that, there are still various mechanisms to prevent overheating and especially to prevent burning. Seems weird all around, especially if true.

Also, would just like to mention that all this is making me miss my launch ps4 and it's attempts to take off. There was a certain charm to playing games near what sounded like a jet engine.

Ah, the usual "unlocked framerate on pause/map-menu-problem".
Why can't they set an fps lock to the pause menus?
