Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

Darkflow, your posts seriously lack substance. Is this all you intend to do? Make sarcastic snide remarks to every other person? You're not saying anything. Every comment you're making here is just another little nothing meant to make you seem like you're too cool to care. Theres a good chance you'll just continue with a response to this, but you should know the act is pretty transparent.

Two Words, arguing with you is like arguing with a anti-vaxxer. No mater what anyone says or does, you will always feel strong in your opinion. That's fine, but you then keep pressing and trying to make the other person feel dumb for having there own opinion, that is not fine. So whatever man.

He's an 11 year old kid. His brain is not fully developed and many kids his age don't fully understand the consequences of such actions. There is a reason 'stranger danger' become so well-known, kids are gullible.

Man, what's with all the harsh people in here? Ever heard of empathy?

Brain not fully developed and not understanding consquence by 11? Are you serious? He not underdeveloped, he's just stupid.

He wasn't trying to have a friend or family help him with a tough part, which is what Shareplay was actually designed for. He was trying to have a stranger cheat for him in a multiplayer game because he was too lazy to put in the effort to be lazy on his own.

Have you played Destiny? Its a fucking grind fest, good on the kids for not wasting his time

None of that makes sense considering you have made no attempt at a real argument, but whatever.

Bungie is free to remove any exploits they wish. Anything left in the game is fair game. "Against Bungie's wishes" is a laughable transgression.

Yeah this mentality that it is somehow the players fault that the game is breakable is unreal to me. I think the whole campaign of blaming the consumer finally pays of.

I use glitches and exploits all the time to quickly level and make builds in Souls games. Feel bad for the kid, hopefully he learns not to trust strangers. But, I ain't mad at him for glitching past a grind, especially if he has already done it before. Just trying to build a character to Raid with it seems, then he got duped by a random douchebag.

Some awful comments ITT.

Saddens me when people talk about karma. Hypocrites. Victim blaming. Cheating? Give me a break. It's abusing an exploit at best. Any decent MMO just fixes these exploits. Punishing the player is a weak decisiom imo. And by the looks of, this glitch wasn't even legit?

If this is karma, you guys have a weird sense of morals. The kid didn't lose his characters by fate or coincidence. Another person did it. Intentional. Because said person is an asshole. Has nothing to do with karma.

Stealing is illegal. We have laws to deal with that. So that part isn't comparable to this.
The kid didn't get reported to Bungie, he had his work destroyed. So that part isn't comparable either.

I did not say it was a perfect comparison, just a better one. Not like asking a stranger to watch your stuff (which, you should also not do and I hope this kid learns from this experience not to do that) I bet if the stranger told him he found a glitch that made him have 2x as much health as everybody else he would've done the same thing and you would still be defending him because he's just 11.

I bet the person that did it was just like the people in this thread. Trying to justify his actions by saying, "He was trying to cheat!!!!!"

God help them.

You come off like a sanctimonious asshole. You know what I would do if I was this 11 year old's parent? I'd tell him to stop crying over a fucking video game. Holy hell.

Meanwhile you have people wishing physical violence on the person who trolled him and somehow the people laughing at this video are morally bankrupt?

Wow, so many assholes in this thread..

Poor kid, I hope Bungie does something.

Is 4chan working on ruining the other guys life already?

It's a video about a kid crying over a video game ffs. This is not a philosophy discussion.
I never said it was. I don't get how the context here changes much though. Its pretty obvious when people want everybody to know just how damn indifferent they are and that's what you're doing.

My melons will crush your puny potatoes!

Yeah blame the gamer and ban their accounts! It is much easier than fixing and patching the game. What an asshole anti consumer thinking.

Judging by this post, I am going to assume you have never played a MMO before Destiny.

People cheat in MMO's all the time, and usually get caught, and it ends up in an account ban. The person ends up having to buy a whole new copy of the game and starting over.

That's fucked up. I hope he at least reported them to Sony/Bungie.
And say what? "I am 11 and using a game rated for teens with unrated online interactions and handed full control of my system over to someone willingly"? Sony and Bungie will, righly, tell him he's underage to use a Master Account.

Reminds me of the time an older kid came up to me when I was skateboarding, asked to let me see him do a trick, ended up snapping the deck on purpose. Sucks, but lesson learned.

Dude, come on. I'm not saying he's underdeveloped.

So when teens engage in risky and/or foolish behavior, it's not just that they don't have life experience to know better, but that their brains have difficulty assessing consequences

It occurred as a direct consequence of trying to cheat the system.

Ergo, if he had not tried to cheat the system, he would still have his characters.

It's sad but it's par for the course with MMOs (and MMO-like's, like Destiny). If you trust someone you don't know with your account the chances are they will fuck you over. It's certainly happened to me.

Stupid? Cmon, he's only 11. Naive would have been a better choice of word.

When I was 11, i would happily hand over my gba to a stranger if he told me he knows a way to catch mewtwo.

Meanwhile nothing. One or two people made single comments wishing violence on the asshole. Don't try and rope crap like that together.

Some sick people in here laughing at an 11 year old kid crying, just because he cheated, as if nobody cheated at games when they were a kid. If he was an adult then you can talk justice. Yes it's just a game but that's irrelevant. You're still an asshole if you want to hurt kids feelings or enjoy their sadness just because you're a hard ass who has been through it all before.

Something like that happened to me when I was a kid.

I had a high level character in PSO and I was playing with my friend online. I can't remember the circumstances, but this guy joined and basically started attacking me and saying that he'll use hacks to delete my character. It was my first ever experience with griefing, and I burst into the tears and was typing through the clumsy controller interface begging to not do it.

Nothing happened. A few days after there was server maintenance and I tried logging on but couldn't play for obvious reasons. When I checked the day after my character had been disappeared.

To this day I still don't know if the griefer managed to delete my character, or if it was the server maintenance. Basically ruined PSO and PSO V2 for me either way though.

I'm sure the asshole who did this was doing it for the sake of justice and karma, guys.

I can't believe people are defending an asshole who did somethong cowardly and then proceed to use the word karma while saying an 11-year old kid "deserved it" in the same sentence.

Way to understand how much time and care they've put into something.

When I was this kid's age I lent my Gameboy with Pokemon Red in it to a school friend of mine. Never saw it again. I cried and cried. I wasn't even trying to exploit anything, I was trying to be nice to someone I thought was a friend.

Know what my parents did? They punished me for being so dumb, and definitely didn't get me a replacement. Guess what? I learned my lesson, never did anything like that again, became wiser for it. Better than if my parents coddled me and told me it wasn't my fault and got me a new one like it never happened.

so cheating as a kid is acceptable? If you have kids, please tell me you are not teaching them that...

no its not but neither is having everything blown up in return. if you teaching a kid a lesson the punishment is in proportion to the crime. otherwise youre just treating them as full grown adults. There is a reason ppl are protective of children and give them second chances. they are kids. not adults.

That's some shitty parenting. Lending something to a school friend isn't some innately stupid act and no kid should be made to feel like they are stupid for doing so.

That's not shitty parenting. If I kept doing stuff like that, I would've kept getting my shit stolen with no recourse.

Being a good parent is not just about making your kids feel amazing and special all the time, it's about getting them prepared to deal with the world.

I don't think anyone is saying that the dude who deleted the characters is an otherwordly agent of karma. Just that this is always a potential consequence to this kind of behaviour (cheating, trying to game the system).

It happened to me when I was probably his age or younger with Runescape. You can't expect to operate in this imaginary ecosystem where there aren't assholes. Allowing someone access to your account is inherently risky, otherwise everyone would do it. It's a gamble, and it won't always pay off, and sometimes brutally so.

As a parent of a young child, this makes me both furious and sad. That's not how you want your kid to learn a "life lesson". People saying this is funny are pathetic.

im just super glad some of the posters in this thread werent my parents. hard parenting is one thing and i got whopped when i did something wrong. but some of the replies are just assuming kids know everything. innocence is one of the best things about childhood (and yes this kid tried to cheat but some of the other examples like the kid lending something jesus christ)

Kensuke

Whether the cheat existed or not is irrelevant. If he didn't TRY to cheat, his characters would be intact.

Dude...he's a kid. Did you watch the video? Around the 11 minute mark the other guy joins the kid's chat and apparently tells him he has a way to level up his character instantly. He convinces the kid to share play and he explains how to do it. It was malicious intent from the start and the poor kid fell for it.

If you say 'he should have known better' then I don't know what to tell you.

They could teach you a lesson while still sympathizing for you. No need to punish a kid for making a mistake for which they already have been punished for.

I don't give a crap about how old the person is. It's about whether that action deserved that response. I really don't see how skipping grind warrants having your work destroyed. Or even having double health (that diminishes other players' enjoyment, but doesn't destroy their progress).
