Kiefer Sutherland Involved in next Mortal Kombat Game

Okay quick, would this be a bigger deal than he was in Brawl?
No, it would be smaller, because putting Snake in a game where assassinating opponents with various weaponry and kombat skills is the norm makes a lot more sense than putting him in a cartoon-styled slapstick high-flying arena brawler.

Very interesting. When I saw Konami land Keifer for MGS, I assumed it was because he was film-trained, and thus would be able to do mo-cap. But if he's also doing less cinematic stuff like Mortal Kombat - now I'm really curious. Maybe the guy is just trying to break into the Voice acting biz?

But also - cool, new Mortal Kombat. Seems like an inevitability, but we're one step closer to an announcement.

The last MK had a better cinematic storyline than most story driven games that year, especially considering it's a fighter.

This is the start of a lot of big name Hollywood actors getting into gaming in my opinion. Keifer and Ellen Page are showing there's money here and that's incredibly attractive to others in his leagues. Less voice work than a cartoon, no physical parts like a show or movie, pays well enough because of the name you'll attach to the product, etc.

At least that's what I'm hoping for.

I think Keifer is more willing to take on more projects after most of his post 24 stuff tanking. Which is why he's also probably doing 24 again.

I'm not sure how I feel about a future in which Keifer Sutherland is the new Troy Baker. Not sure I like it very much. 'Kept you waitinghoh.'

As for MK, where do they go from the amazing MK9? A huge part of the appeal of that game was the nostalgia as they retold the first three I loved as kids, and seeing all your favourite characters back on a 2D plane where they belonged. How do you top it? Most of the characters they didn't include are absolute bollocks, anyway. How do you keep the gameplay fresh? Eh, I'm interested to see where they go with it anyway.

FINISH HIM!

First leak of sorts. Back during MK2011, it was also some of the voice actors that hinted at who were returning, because of their resumes.

Considering how the last game ended, and the choice it could be either one of the "bad guys" but not Shinnok, unless he does an accent..and I doubt they'd cast Sutherland to have a british-sort of accent like Shinnok.

His voice is closer to Raiden, but he's already cast (unless they go for an "all stars cast" and re-casted all roles).

Probably...Fujin. Since after the mess Raiden did and how it literally got everyone but Sonya and Johnny Cage killed; someone else would be appointed a new protector of Earth.

We'll see...
soon
. Maybe is just a guest-character. :p

Only if this dude is an unlockable character.

That...would be fucking awesome, actually. That entire scene in The Lost Boys was rad.

On a second note, this best be a full-on M rated MK, with no shenanigans. Much like the last game. MK 9 was fucking amazing in every way.

Nice to have some more recent solid evidence the game exists. Even smalls news like this gets me hyped for it.

Maybe KF is the new announcer ;p or he's replacing boon as scorpion. Next thing you know he'll be replacing charles marntiet as mario and troy baker as everyone.

One question though...as enticing as a next-gen MK sounds, should the series have been left alone for sometime after the last game? I mean, how can they improve over that? Was pretty much an MK fan's dream come true and they accomplished soooo much in that game that it's not even funny.

This is the first official news about MK10's development which makes me pretty excited. They will probably keep up with the tradition and reveal it at this year's E3, can't wait!

What if it isn't MK10 but a spin-off of some sort?

Although a shoalin monks style spin off would be cool, the competitive MK FGC has been longing for for an improved tournament viable MK. MKX first, then the spin off game afterwords would be ideal. Then again, WB won't be making decisions like that for a few thousand people.

Neat, but with the recent explosion of Irrational, I can't help but note how shit like this is endemic to the borked state of big-budget game development.

Who the heck thought it would be a good idea to shell out who knows how much money to have Keifer record a few lines for a fighting game?

I kinda agree with this. Like if the netcode and stuff is still a mess in the next game, I'm gonna flip my shit at them wasting money/resources for an over paid voice actor.
