Man, how do they even continue the story off of MK9? Everything was basically super fucked.
Well MK9 was the plot of MK1-3, so presumably the plot of MK4.

Yeah but didn't MK 1-3 also have most of the characters still alive at the end?
They may be dead, but they're still in play.
They're just working for Shinnok now instead of Raiden.
Humans and Outworld team up against the Netherrealm and their zombie army I guess.
The only person that's really dead dead is Liu Kang.

There's two characters I could imagine him being. Both of them being characters that were introduced in MK4, but then largely went to waste after that game: Fujin and Reiko.
For Fujin (Wind God guy) to be originally posed as Raiden's successor in the "original timeline", he really didn't do much, even after Raiden went crazy. Meanwhile, Reiko never developed much beyond being another "mysterious free agent" who played on both Shinnok and then Shao Kahn's teams. Oh, and he apparently likes to play pretend as Shao Kahn.
Perfect opportunity to revamp both characters, since they have a new timeline to play around in.

A new Mortal Kombat with digitized graphics and real people is never going to work. The fatalities would look too realistic, we're talking about a video game here, not an horror movie like Hostel, MK9 didn't look real and it got banned in Australia. Imagine if the fatalities look like real killings, the game will never see the light of day.
MK9 is unbanned in Australia now that we have a R18+ rating. It was cheap too, it was 'released' for like $29 brand new. I gotta applaud WB for that.
The game you posted is never coming out, it was supposed to be PC only, you'll never see games like this on consoles.
