You can already preorder this at Best Buy, btw. Saw it there earlier... you get some bonus theme for preorder. Heh.

IDK where I wanna pre order from, whoever gives me the best deal gets my money. I haven't preordered a game since Zelda TWW.

Is there are video somewhere that shows the nailgun pinning a helghast to the wall? The g4tv weapon video shows it for like a split second and but isn't very clear. If there were a closeup of it in some video, it would definitely be gif worthy :D

If they didnt ban GeOW2 then they wont ban this......... they fuckin better not, riots there will be.

EDIT

they could always say that GeoW is more like cartoon and you're chainsawing monster or alien while KZ 2 is too realistic and the victim is human. I'm pretty surprised some people here already comment the flamethrower is a little disturbing. I would have imagined the reaction to be 'Awesome!'

That was my reaction.

it's funny how sony gets ragged on SO much re E3 'trailers' on a debut of there new system .... but for pS2, and now again for PS3 (i forget ps1 launch details) they have been pretty fucking spot on.

makes me wonder why all the cynics come out again and again, and labour it so much ..when they should know better.... you'd think they'd learn ..

This annoys the hell out of me, PS2 met it's target renders in time and all the people that gave sony fire got away with it, now it's about to happen again and it seems those bastards will get away with murder again.

Bastards.

That was shown at Leipzig but I am feeling a little spoiled after watching everything else. I'm putting myself on a blackout.
I think I'll do the same. These videos are really good but I'm already sold on the game.

I think I'll probably do exactly the opposite. I know this game will move planets but I just want to be super hyped and that happens when I watch new gameplay vids - which are awwwwesome.

Oh lawl @ gif.

Old.

A lot, but the R&D will be useful for a lot of other Sony games. I think it's even useful for third parties to an extent (edge tools?). Think of it as ID making Rage to show off their new multiplatform tech. But instead sony is pumping money into KZ2 to get experience and tools to other sony developers. Am I right on this?

It should be very helpful. Apparently they are the only developers who arent having problems with the ps3.

I want to play it :(

We can only hope.. cause everyone else is lagging far behind GG and Naughty Dog

Incognito, Naughty Dog and Insomniac say hi.

The awesomeness of GG is that they see the SPUs as an advantage to excel while other studios see the SPUs as an obstacle.

Looks like 50 million or something ridiculous. This is by far the most impressive console tech ever.

Still, I doubt the budget for this game is more than $30M.

But even if the game costs $300M I don't really care, it's Sony's money. I just want the game to be awesome and I wish Sony continues to invest in their studios :D

Purty much, like all things in life the losers see obstacles while the winners see opportunities.

Obviously the condition of "win" here is graphical fidelity and so forth. Plenty of studios have their own fiscally responsible reasons to see CELL as an obstacle.

That's the beauty of Sony's game plan, and the potential problem with MSs.

MS is dropping a lot of key studios. Studios that could be sharing technology and building a base to work upon together.

Sony is like one freaking huge hive with talents and technology working freely with each other. When Bungie develops a tech for a 360 game now, they're not going to share that with anyone. When Naught Dog learns something, it goes into the Borg Collective, and GG, Incognito, all the Sony devs learn and share and use. Take the 10 dev teams or so from Sony all working together, and the results are going to be brilliant. The sum of this is totally going to kill the parts. No way GG could have done this without the collaborative help of say Insomniac and others. Because of this, we know that God of War will probably look even better, Team ICO game will top that, and it will keep on growing. Sony has invested heavily in this collaborative effort, and it should pay off big time.

MS has cut away studio after studio probably so they could afford a PC. I like the Sony approach better, but we'll see what pays off the most in the long run.

Where did you read that? I think it's too high

130 employees * 3 years = 360 man years. $50M would be about $138k per man year. It's too much for Holland. Salaries in Holland are lower than USA, the average is probably around 50k/year.

I agree. Tech wise sonys first party is a beast, always on the cutting edge. Tech is shared and they grow as a whole. Look at R2s credits, thanking other devs since they likely helped along the way.

Spot on when you said "Hive"

Whether the PS3 sells well this gen or not, everything leaving their game department is top notch.

MS are run by intelligent people. Sony's strategy works in the long-run, but you don't get to the long-run without doing aces in your short-runs as well. MS have deep pockets and can suffer billion dollar losses year after year with some but negligible pressure placed on their executives. Spending money to de-exclusify key titles (GTA, FF, DMC, etc) and garner exclusive content in others has done them A LOT of good.

Besides, they have strong first-party development teams; while not as remarkable as Sony are still very, very, very good.

Sony needs to have the balls to carry through CELL to the PS4 so the huge investments they made this generation, technologically and through their organizational structuring, will pay off. However, things aren't that simple with third parties whining about the CELL.. let's see how it plays out.

How fast do you get it?

I have Amazon Prime, so either I get it on release day (if they do it for ZK2) or the day after (2 day shipping).

The worst I remember from Amazon was Valkyria Chronicles, took them 5 days since they did not receive the game on the release date...

SP gameplay doesnt impress me after watching tons of videos, unlike what COD have done to me. Hopefully GG can do it well in retail version.

It is if Sony markets it.
Everything about the game says system seller.

Someone up high in Sony wants everything to fail.

Please have kickass direct ads. Please.

I don't care if it shatters your fancy expensive image Sony. You drop the stupid runabout ads and hype this shit to the fucking moon.

But seriously I hope he doesn't do the preview (or review) of KZ2, he is too biased against it already and even more important he is not used to the PS3 controller :lol :lol

Tech aside, what Sony is doing this gen (as they did the previous one) is building new IPs. Last gen we got Ratchet, God of War, Jak, Singstar, SOCOM, Siren just to name a few. This gen we got Killzone (actually good one), Resistance, MotorStorm, Warhawk (not really new but you got the point), Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet. Plus the "new gen" versions of those last gen IPs (Jak excluded). So next gen they will have like dozens of exclusive IPs to work with. As for Microsoft, they have got Halo and Gears. What else?
