This is pretty much the only reason to play it at this point. I tried playthrough it but stopped about 3/4 through last summer. The numerous visuals glitches, non-existant AI, slowdown, etc. just made is a truly unfun experience =/
 
I replayed Killzone 1 just recently. I was never all that impressed with it to begin with, but time hasn't been kind to it either. Stick with the cut scenes on YouTube to get up to speed - playing the game will frustrate you more than it entertains you, and that's not the right build up for Killzone 2.

TBH, the cut scenes in Killzone were one of its greatest features. The dialogue and voice acting felt very natural.
 
Currently who has the best videos up of this game? I am starting my "evangelical" mission for this game targeted towards my less informed friends!

Earlier, Gamersyde had excellent videos up, but they had to take them down. I have those videos downloaded, but I dont think I want to distribute them, in case Gamersyde gets in any more trouble... they are an awesome site, and I hope they get through this without any long term issues.

Right now I think Play3-live has some good videos up. Definitely check them out. Lemme find you a link...

You Tube has some banned videos in HD, if you type in Killzone 2 single player videos.
 
I booted up Killzone 1 a week ago and played with bots. Still had fun and it reminded me of the glory days of spending hours and hours online with friends. I bet I could still tell you the location of every weapon/pickup on every map.

Also, (I know I said this earlier, but I'm going to say it again) GG, please make an updated Beachhead for a MP DLC map. I would pay mad money for that. :p

Yeah, it's pretty odd too. Apparently the problem was showing too much of the levels (given to them) was the problem, not releasing early.

I doubt that is it, because the play3-live site has similar videos... they show the flamethrower, the boss, the desert level with new stuff and the train... etc etc. I dont know why Gamersyde was asked to take them down, and not that site?
 
The aiming in KZ1 is absolutely horrendous. I couldn't line up the reticule on someone's head to save my life. Couple that with the realistic spray of the bullets, and it's an exercise in frustration in multplayer.

I don't recall having many problems in the SP. It's a decent SP game, though I never completed it.

I only dl a few of gamersyde videos, but I think the reason GG asked them to take them down is because the videos really look like a literally watching someone play from beginning to end, and may reveal too much about the pacing of the game.

also, gamersyde videos often stopped to showcase the good and the bad, and I think that hurt the pacing of the game so someone may get a different impression about the game.

at least from play3 video, I think they edit the videos more to make the video a little separate experience from the actual game.

The real reason is probably because Blim accidentally released the videos too early (on this site, in this very thread).
 
Woah...This thread has a LOT of posts, kinda surprised a media thread could dwarf the R2 official thread in number of posts. Also a lot of KZ2 Avatars :D

With the February 27th announced release date for the US I guess we can assume the Amazon.co.uk date of February 26th (Thursday) is most likely correct for EU. That date has been up there for the last few weeks.
 
I'm still in the process to finish kz1 (hopefully I'm near the end by now) it's true that to me the most annoying part right now is the aiming, no problems with the framerate or graphics playing this on my ps3 :0

Yep. The re-emergence thread was over 100 pages. And the e3-2008 online was over 60 pages. (at the time there wasn't a lot of MP footage either)

That's amazing. And this thread is over 160 pages. Nuts.

- nowhere near as impressive as the CG-trailer
- Multiplayer is overly complicated
- Multiplayer is full of lag because of PSN and not the shitty connection I'm using
- Game is punishing (aka I suck and the dynamic AI isn't helping me with predicting who comes from what direction)
- Graphics are underwhelming, too much greytones (but the colorpalet of Gears of War still rocks w00t)
- it's not 1080p

Overall score: 6-

I'm not counting the fair reviews, of course.

This is one of those games where reviews are going to be serious business, isn't it? I can kind of already feel it now on a couple of levels(see1up's unjustified nitpicking combined with a sensitive and insanely hyped fanbase).

Either way, this won't end well. Wait, yes it will, because by the time this crap rolls around KZ2 will already be in my hands and i'll be too busy to give a damn.

It would be a blast seeing reviewers take points for the lag,while certain game highly loved by the media was a lag fest,not do to bad connection but to bad code,and its sequel also manage to have the same problems which is incredible.

Killzone 2 has been a pariah ever since the CG trailer. I think most people expected the game to be either vaporware or just outright suck and come anything close to the CG trailer. Of course, Guerilla has been hitting home runs ever since the E3 07 reveal. They're doing an outstanding job and they deserve every bit of praise, they've exceed even my wildest expectations.

I have no problem with negative reviews, comments or opinions on the game but the contradictions and double standards from some journos are just mind boggling.

Can't help but wonder huh ?
