digging it... real sense of atmosphere... plenty long to see how the game feels, no need to rush through it.

controls are fine - just get used to it.... it is not "sluggish", there is just weight to it, you can spin around youself like you are on ice...

of course, dts sound in the demo :lol

Ok, getting used to the controls again. Took a little bit to get it right but now im back son! IM BACK SON! I love doing the warehouse part over and over again, just to see the different outcomes. I keep "restarting from checkpoint" at the warehouse.

Cant wait for multiplayer! Oh god
Does it feel drastically different from the beta memor... I mean mr_nothin? I'm downloading the demo now (sorry Europe). Setting up a Euro account was easier than I thought.

So is it definately normal for the screen to flicker and jolt then?

I'm starting to think I need to change the settings on my TV...even in the option's menu...if I scroll over something (Axis, controls, etc) the whole screen flickers and moves.

Would I really be at a disadvantage if i didn't use hold aim in multiplayer? I want to leave my controls for SP and MP alone, the click on the analog seems fast enough. Just have to learn to un-tap it and keep moving.

Yes, as part of the whole "analog" look they are going for visually, the menus are meant to appear like some sort of interplanetary video feed (not unlike the intro sequence). I like it, but some people don't and maybe they should have an option for that? Who knows.

I don't want to speak for nib or TTP (etc) but ahhhh.....

Told ya so!!!!!

:D

Also, for those that don't want to create an EU account, and didn't get a code from Gamestop, it sounds like we'll have at least a couple of Demo Codes for Killzone 2 to give away on our 100th show on Saturday night. Also, we're giving away a copy of Crash Commando on the North American store

Enemy AI is awesome... runs for cover all the time, shoots over their shoulders (just like real life btw), also their movement is restricted as well, real sense of physics and weight when you see them jumping over the fence (they have to do it slowly they cant jump like in super mario game), and heck, stuff like shooting them into knees and them falling over their unusable legs is pretty darn good.

tried again. no luck.

re-downloaded. no luck.

called sony. no luck.

i've tried about 10 times now.

the sony rep told me that they're having issues with kz2 and nobody is able to play it :|

when i told him "yes, people are playing it. my friends are playing it and people on my PSN list are playing it"...his response was "oh".

some guy told me the same thing happened to him and he had to send it in for repair. i PRAY i don't have to go thru that again.

Yea, it's a lot 'heavier'. Pumped up the sensitivity a little bit (but not crazy high like these COD4 freaks). The 'hold to zoom is good'. Im not even sure if I like it better off or on.

I wasnt even suppose to be playing the demo but since everybody said it was short, I thought why the hell not. Glad I did. Im playing it over and over and over now. At 1st it was like "ehhhhh, its alright". But that's exactly how the beta started out for me too! Now that I'm back into KZ2-mode....HYPE HYPE HYPE!

I didn't have any problem with the controls at all. I've been having a blast
on the second part of the demo i went through afew times and killed all of the enemies without blowing stuff up so i could take my time and fool around for about 20-30 destroying things bit by bit lol

Feels much, much better with the sensitivity up and "zoom hold" on. Cut three minutes off my fastest time just because I was able to hit enemies easier.

Down to 6m 55s now... can't see me getting much faster simply because I'm just not that good at FPS on consoles. :lol

What happened? Did your PS3 fail? Are you in the US and d/loaded the Euro demo?

So short. :(

So awesome!
Damn, I am very impressed by the AI. The battles are very dynamic and the Helghast are smart, very fun fighting against them.

They're simulating an electronic display in a war environment. That is why you get the rolling bar, the jitters etc.

It is pretty obvious, almost exactly like the menus in BF2 on pc.

Does anyone know if you can adjust the dead zone in the retail version? I seem to suck less at aiming than most console FPS games, but the deadzone is killing me. I press subtly and get no movement, so I slam the sticks harder and suddenly move way too far.

That is perfectly normal - it's part of UI design. You're looking at a military tech screen, that's a bit low-tech in nature.

I haven't gone through the demo yet (it's installing), but that's why it being short isn't a big deal to me. If the enemies are as fun to fight as they seem to be, I'll play this demo over and over.

Downloading the demo now off the Euro store (thanks guys!) and getting about 1mb/sec.

Can't wait to see what this game's all about.

just played the demo for the 3rd time, holy fuck, the more you play it the better.

yes it is, you notice all post processing effects, you notice that you can pick up other weapons - like missile launcher, and then realize how fucking awesome weight feels in this game, this aint no QuakeIII.

Anyone else hate the cover system? :\ It felt like i was just crouching facing a wall w/ the gun in my face.
i actually thought it worked great. were you aware you can peak by pressing forward with left stick? or you could lean out from the sides. i thought it worked well.

I personally had no problems with the click iron sights. When you are in the iron sight view it is nice not having to worry about holding a button. If you play at longer range then you can expect to spend more time in that view, so the click will reduce cramping. At mid range it is convenient to pull up the iron sights and pop off a few shots for accuracy then drop the sights and shoot from the hip. The responsiveness of R3 is sufficient for this tactic.

The only real downside is that if you use the sticks with heavy hands then you might pull up the sights once in a while. It takes a bit to activate the R3 button though so it should be too much of an issue.

Just played the demo 3 times and it was amazing and different every time! :D

Controls were no problem, but man you can't turn at all while running, unlike in the MP Beta where you still had some agility. Dunno if I like it, kinda feels like RE5 in that respect but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Visuals... hot fucking damn they are good. Way better than just watching videos, obviously! Some of the best textures I've seen, tons of detail, love the grainy look to everything. Lighting was a little overdone in the warehouse but it's all good. The physics and animations were excellent, it just feels so good shooting a weapon, and even better killing a Helghast. It's sooo satisfying! The sound quality is unbelievable even on my poor sound setup.

The most impressive thing about the demo tho, was the A.I. and simply how challenging they are. They surprised me a few times in just those few encounters. They actually got the jump on me a few times. At the first encounter before the bridge, after it's blown up, the one Helghast that appears at ground level. I had a pretty epic one on one with him. I thought I'd see how good they were, so I took it slow and he reacted to everything I did. After I'd hit him with a few shots I started to reload, he then popped out at this point and shot me taking my health right down. I quickly latched back into cover, which he used as an opportunity to quickly run round the side to finish me off. I had to de-attach from cover and scurry backwards just managing to kill him before he took me out with a melee.

The second impressive encounter occurred in the warehouse, after I'd taken down all of the first wave. I thought I'd got them all but I didn't realise two more guys jump over the barrier and onto ground level. At that point I was walking in the other direction to pick up some ammo only to hear "I WILL CRUSH YOU VEKTAN!" "Huh" I say to myself as I turn around only to be surprised that the Helghast was already right in my face, he melee'd me, I tried to melee back but he backed up and I missed only for him to follow up with a few rounds to my face, ending a rather embarrassing encounter for me.

I can't wait to play on hard with their even faster reaction times, given half an opportunity even one lone enemy can be deadly. Loved the demo, far too short, at least give me one more encounter, but it was just a rush. I didn't even care Rico said "Letz gooo!" That's how good it was ;)

I just want to come in here to share some number I just thought of.

Since ~2 weeks ago, this thread has received about 10,000 posts.

Assuming an average of 15 seconds used per post, that equals:

450,000 seconds; or 7,500 minutes; or 125 hours; or 5.2 days.

Yow. Can't wait to play the demo tonight!

Yea, basically I download/install the demo. Go thru all the screens. Get to the "loading" screen of the level, and the PS3 shuts off.

I've tried the EU and the US (I'm in the US)
Shit man :( That's messed up. I'm kinda terrified right now. I'm also from the US and I have a 60g PS3. I'm downloading the Euro demo as we speak. I'll let you know if I have any problems on my end....
