Makes it sound like they only played one round in Salamun Market since that level doesn't have a whole lot of environmental interaction. It's a very well-designed level but the other two levels in the beta have much more deformation and physics-based interaction

Salamun Market is actually my favorite level. It's the largest of all the maps so everyones play style works in it. Plus you don't really have to worry about the rocket happy players in it. :P

One thing I loved about you're video's is the fact that iron sights are used correctly in this game. R2 was a major disappointment in terms of not actually looking down the barrel of the rifle. It really bothered me that they don't actually use the sights on the gun in R2. K2 gets it right, and I think I'll end up using iron sights more in certain situations because of it.

TTP, I'm not sure if you have had the chance to use the sniper rifle in K2, but if you have can you tell us what you think of it? I just hope it isn't like the Fareye in R2 where if you aim at someone and another person runs by it automatically shifts to the guy running by. Its just something I find really annoying.

Great video's by the way!

There is no such thing as aiming aid in KZ2 so no, sniping is not affected in any way by dudes crossing your line of fire.

I think there is an aim assist, it does that thing where the amount of assist is reduced by the amount of time you shoot in a set time, the reticle swells to show the accuracy lowering.

Accuracy lowering yes. But there is no aim assist that I can tell.

Oh I'm not knocking Salamun at all, but of the three levels in the beta it's clearly the one with the least amount of physics and stuff. Which, if that's the only level he played, would prompt him to write that kind of comment in his preview

Yeah, there's definitely more destruction in other levels. It's not a huge amount, but considering most multiplayer games have no destruction at all it's not something that really makes sense to complain about.

Anyone notice the guy in the background?
As the rocket is shot, the lighting shows a guy in the back on a ledge turning around. Awesome looking!

I noticed. I think I watched him a good 10 or 15 times haha.

Indeed. Makes as much sense as saying Killzone 2 doesn't spawn a hot woman in my room every time I play it. That's disappointing.

But then again it probably does that on some kind of subliminal level as I do get an erection.

Damn I should have gave the code away, I barely playing it because of Fallout 3 :(

Very vanilla preview from Gamespot.

O_O, that didn't really make sense because there are 3 gifs floating out there that define the term physics-based money shot.

Wtf more do they want?
Come on, how can you fault gamespot when it was sony's fault for not buying some ad space before this preview went up. Freaking sony.

there are certainly no physics-based money shots such as deformable scenery or movable objects.

Where is that sentence? I just read the article and there's no sight of that one. Maybe they've erased it:lol

It's in the paragraph under the second picture in the article. The 7th paragraph.
Killzone 2 has a distinctive look to it, but the multiplayer maps don't really give the engine much chance to show off. There are lens flare effects and the weapons have plenty of detail to them, but the environments are very static with no movable objects or vehicles. The sound is impressive though, with some really meaty weapon effects from the standard sidearms and automated turrets. And while we sometimes had trouble getting into multiplayer games, the lobby system was quick and painless, allowing us to get into the action immediately after connecting.
?

I love when people call bullshit on poor or made up reporting. Also note that this is from gamespot, so in all reality, I'm not surprised.

They had it (KZ2) last night and it looked pretty damn good, it really looks good. If it had CoD4 control sensitivity and tuning, it'd be the mother of all shooters. Oh my god.

Great praise, but he's really not gonna let his bullshit controls complaints drop even tho the controls are perfect now.

I don't know about that. I just happened to be walking around the Salamun Market map and saw a wooden pallet sitting there so I decided to shoot it, obliterating it to pieces. There's also little like, gas tanks and stuff that I shoot at and they explode. Seems like he's kind of reaching with the vehicles line (imo)....

Cerberus said:
You can't change the sensitivity in KZ2?
You can yeah.

I have some issues with putting commands on the R3/L3 buttons, but the controls are great, it plays as good, if not better than any console shooter I've played, and I've pretty much played them all this generation.

That idiot at gamespot obviously didn't even play the fucking game for more than a minute. Shit like that makes me furious.

Static and no "movable vehicles"? Did he even see the god damn air support? I realize it's not a vehicle you can use in terms of moving from point A to point B, but jesus, of all the things to complain about.

I hope he knows about the DLC they have planned. If he did, he would know that comment is bullshit.

What are his problems with the controls? It has sensitivity tuning both vertically and horizontally. I do not have a single issue with the controls.

Two words:

Yeah, I have problems with R3/L3 too. Some people in this thread have said you only need to push down once on L3 to sprint so I'm glad to hear that. Is R3 used for melee attack?

Yes. Yes it is. At least the configuration I use...

Have they fucking played any other shooter? Like Gears 2? Like COD4? Why the fuck are they even complaining about "moveable vehicles"? I'll fucking "moveable vehicles" their asses.

Yep. Other than the red x which makes it BETTER for shooting from the hip, which combines with the fucking CORRECT way of doing ironsight, both ironsight aiming and short-med hip shooting feels TOTALLY RIGHT and BETTER than any other shooter out there. They fucking NAILED the concept of tactical shooting while keeping the speed brisk and the players running, everything from walking to running to shooting feels JUST RIGHT.

The fact that I can vault over just about EVERY FUCKING THING that makes sense in the situation made me fucking awestruck by teh fucking awesome-wowsomeness of the freedom of movement. They fucking pulled off freedom of movement without having idiots jumping around.

I think you scored all of them too high. None are even a 9 IMO. To say KZ2 is better than those games isn't saying much too me because it should be.

??? His BioShock/CoD4 scores seem to be about in line with the industry average (outside of UT3, but again, he says he's a huge fan of the multiplayer).

If you consider CoD4/BioShock to be 'average games' there is something seriously wrong with you.

That's exactly how I feel.

I love the mobility of Halo 3, I dislike just HOW mobile they are...like they're on the freaking moon.

KZ2 has the right balance, you can jump all over obstacles you need to.

In resistance 2, you can't jump over ANYTHING.

SolidSnakex said:
Yep, i've got mine turned all the way up. I think you need it if you hope to survive.
I think this is what Garnett is talking about when he says that he would like it to control like COD 4. The default sensitivity is a bit tighter, especially if you're coming from COD 4...

Yep yep. The fact that just about every waist-high railing is vaultable (with the exception of a few where you're basically THREE STORIES up and it would be STUPID to vault over because you would and SHOULD die, and I can basically jump down a story, take a bit of damage to get the jump on someone below, makes the level SO MUCH MORE interactive than most shooters out there, there's not a single large area where I'm basically not allowed to cross through the middle because of an invisible wall, because there's no such thing in the beta. The best part of this is I don't have to fucking wait for a FUCKING ICON to show up to know I can vault over something, I just jump over whatever I think I should be able to jump over no prob, everything that would make sense to happen, HAPPENS. People keep saying why hating on R2, it's because the Killzone 2 beta literally pulled off EVERY FUCKING THING imaginable, it's so much more polished than most retail shooters out there.

Great to see all the KZ2 love. Since I got in the beta I've totally neglected SOCOM and R2. And it isnt that I dont enjoy SOCOM or R2 as they are both fun its just that KZ2 is just in another league. In fact I have SOCOM, R2, LBP, Gears 2 and Valkyria Chronicles and which game do you think is getting the majority of my time these days?

You guessed it. The 3 map KZ2 multiplayer beta.
